Through The Alleys

Arrows rained across the streets, striking into Vanessa and Hakken's shields. Thanks to the darkness and their cloaks, none of the centaurs were able to hit their legs.

"Into the alley!" shouted Hakken.

A centaur black their path. Each time it fired at them, Vanessa blocked with her shield. As they got near, it mounted the bow to its back and swung its axe.

Vanessa ducked, striking in with her gladius, "Get down"!

Her blade pierced the centaur's sternum, allowing her to drive it across his liver and push its body into a wall. Hakken held her shield against the arrows coming from the rear.

Soldiers and centaurs were coming their way, angered that they managed to breakthrough. Two centaurs sprinted through their respective alleys to cut off their targets.

Before running past the slain centaur with her comrade, Hakken grabbed its heavy bow and arrows. Given that she barely passed the heavy bow course, she hoped to have the strength needed to use it.
