Trauma

We stared awkwardly at each other for an awkward amount of time. I should feel embarrassed, but I honestly don't. She clearly isn't embarrassed either, it was just awkward. Maybe I should get out?

"Are you the one who saved me?"

"Yes. I heard you running from goblins, so I went and helped you."

"Thank you very much!"

In an instant, she bent forward at an almost perfect ninety degree angle. Man, that looks uncomfortable.

"Don't worry about it. Wait inside, I'll get dressed."

"Oh, okay."

Doing as I said, the girl walked back into my house, closing the door behind her. As soon as the door closed shut, I pulled myself out of the river and used my wind magic to dry myself off. I then used my magic abilities to clean my clothes and put them back on.

Once I was dressed, I went over to the door and went back inside. The girl was sitting in one of my chairs by the fireplace, waiting patiently for me. When I came inside, she turned her head to look at me.

"Welcome back."

"Thank you. Are you cold?"

"A little."

Hearing her reply, I lit a fire in the fireplace in front of her, having it poof into existence. Her head snapped in the direction of the sudden burst of flame as her eyes opened wider than the sky.

"You can use magic!?"

"Yeah, I sure can."

"Wow! This is my first time ever seeing magic! In the small village I grew up in, there weren't any magic users, so we always had to do things the hard way. When our village got attacked by a large group of raging animals, we were forced to leave in search of a new home. While we were looking, a large group of goblins kidnapped all of us..."

A dark look enveloped her eyes as her face turned downwards and her voice became lighter.

"At first, the goblins didn't do anything to us. They just locked us away in one of their huts with guards constantly watching us. They had stolen our weapons and used them against us as a deterrent. They fed us, but only enough to keep us alive. Soon, they began taking one person after another, slashing them to death and then eating them. When they pulled a girl out, instead of just killing her, they ripped her clothes off and did unspeakable things to her. They made us watch everything that happened. I saw when they cried, when they screamed and fought, and when they finally gave up. The looks in their eyes when they realized they couldn't do anything was horrifying..."

I've heard stories about goblins, but damn this is bad. Why haven't the kingdoms started an effort to exterminate them? It shouldn't be that hard. Despite playing with human girls, they can't actually reproduce with them. When a goblin is conceived, it only takes around six months to give birth, and there is only a twenty percent chance of a goblin being conceived in the first place, not that it matters since they screw like rabbits, going again and again.

If the kingdoms would put their differences aside and partake in a joint effort to exterminate the goblin race, many horrible incidents like this would never happen.

"Hey, you don't have to talk about this if you don't want to you know."

"I need to. I watched as one by one, everyone I had ever known was eaten alive, over and over. I watched as all the girls were raped and beaten, only to be eaten like everyone else. I counted the days one by one, trying to stay calm, but it was, so, hard."

Tears were forming at the edges of her purple eyes, quickly pooling up and beginning to slide down her face. Her voice went high and she kept trying to stifle her sobs as she continues talking.

"I-I just k-kept watching them, over and over. I w-was so s-s-scared, knowing I was g-going to d-die, and that I couldn't d-do anything. I don't even remember how I escaped, just that once I did. I didn't stop no matter how much it hurt."

She couldn't contain herself anymore and finally exploded, sobbing out all of her fears and anxieties from her time within the goblins camp. Her wails were loud and pained, her voice went raw and began to croak.

"W-why... M-m-me? W-what... D-did I-I... D-do?"

It was heartbreaking to watch, seeing her cry out all of her frustrations. No person should have to go through what she just did, especially a little girl such as herself.

She cried for almost an hour while I did everything in my power to soothe her. I pulled her to the floor along with myself and laid her head on my lap, pet her hair, rubbed her back, and made a calming shushing sound, but she didn't stop until she almost lost her voice, leaving only a small cracking voice behind.

Once she had cried out all the tears she had, she calmed down, laying her head down while letting me pet her.

"Can we do anything about the goblins?"

She spoke in a soft, quiet, cracked voice, asking a simple question.

"I already dealt with them. You have no need to worry about them any longer."

With that, the girl finally fell asleep, her head on my lap. Despite hardly even knowing me, she placed her full trust in me, her savior. I don't even know her name.

Oh well, I can learn it another time. For now, I should lay her back down in my bed.

As I laid her down, her blonde hair ended up strewn across the bed beneath her. We might not know each other, but we resemble each other a surprising amount. She almost seems like a little sister.

I watched through the window as the sun slowly began to set over the horrizon, making for a beautiful view.

"Sweet dreams."

I then left the room.
