The Dungeon

My arms and legs are chained to the walls in the dungeon. The chains are shiny and clean, which means that this particular cell that I'm in was prepared for me so that I wouldn't be able to escape.

If I wanted to use the restroom, I had to go over to a bucket that I could hardly reach.

The floor was dirty and wet, giving off a horrible smell. I guess some couldn't reach the bucket.

So, what should I do? Should I just escape? They plan to just execute me at midnight, and I'm certain that anyone who would save me didn't actually whitness what happened, meaning that no on will probably have me released. Maybe I have to break out after all.

As I was thinking quietly to myself, the moans of other unfortunate Elves could be heard down the many different halls from the many different cells in the dungeon.

"I didn't mean to bump her..."

One male Elf with a dry voice spoke, or more accurately, whispered to himself from his cell.

"She said I could bring her anything..."

This time, the dry voice of a female Elf whispered quietly to herself.

"What is a lace..?"

A child!? Why have they chained a child up in the dungeon?

"Why Princess Amelia?"

All of them said the last part almost in unison with each other. It seems they were all sent here by the princess, probably from different days according to how dry their voices are. How could that Elf be so heartless?

Does the King really know nothing about any of this? How can he be ruler but not be aware of what is happening here? Someone who doesn't even know of the affairs in his castle doesn't deserve to rule.

As I stood chained to the wall for a few hours longer, I finally decided what I would do. No one has saved me yet, so no one will help me. Therefore, I either escape and risk being a felon, or let myself be executed tonight? Wait, can I even die? Well, I guess I could considering that the creator warned be to be careful around the demon race. Whatever, that doesn't matter right now. What does matter is leaving and trying to inform the King.

I've only been in this castle for one day, so I don't know the entire layout, but I do know where the Kings's private chambers are. If I get there, all I have to do is wait for him to go there and then I can safely explain the situation. If I happen to hear him at all before I arrive there, however, I will just run straight for him instead.

All right, let's do this.

Wasting no time, I yanked the chains from the walls, causing bits of debris to tumble down from where the chains had been built in. Once they were out of the wall, I simply yanked them off of me by tearing the metal while I pulled. The metal cuffs around my wrists and ankles easily snapped with just the slightest amount of effort on my part. Now then, to the private chambers.

Free from my chains, I easily escaped the confines of my cell and made my way out by following the path by which I was brought in. It took mere seconds, as I was running down the halls so as to quickly reach my destination. The dungeons walls had torched to light the way, and as I ran past, the flames were blown in the direction I ran because of my sheer speed within the rather narrow halls.

As soon as I made it to the staircase that led up and out of the dungeons, I quickly arrived to the top. Now then, to the private chambers.

From there, I ran down the many larger, wider, and cleaner halls until I arrived at the private chambers. This took much longer, as there were guards everywhere that I had to be sure to avoid, but after two hours of slowly and quietly scurrying through the castle, I managed to arrive at my destination.

Perfect, now all I have to do is wait in here and-

My hand had only just been placed on the door handle when it twisted from the other side. Well, I hope it's the King opening the door, as I don't have enough time to run and hide if it isn't.

The man who opened the door wasn't the King. It was the butler. Wait, the butler? Why would the butler be in the King's quarters?

He seemed just as shocked to see me as I was to see him, as he immediately fell backwards at the surprise of me being right in front of him.

"Ahh!"

With that single cry of surprise, he fell to the ground, landing on his butt. It wasn't a soft landing either. That will probably hurt later.

"How did you get here? I thought you had been locked in the dungeon?"

"How did I get here? What are you doing here?"

"He came here to inform me of what happened in the dining hall."

The King spoke up from his seat at the long table in his chamber. He sat at the head, just as he had when me and Elizabeth were here.

Wait, so does that mean the butler saw everything? Well why didn't he speak up? Wait, dumb question. He would have been taken as an accomplice by those guards for going against Amelia's word.

"Does that mean you know?"

"About how my daughter accusing you of attempting an assassination on her? Yes, I do know. Did you try and kill her?"

"No, I can assure you I didn't."

"That's a shame."

I'm sorry, what?

"No matter. Despite what my hypocritical spoiled daughter says, I know you didn't do it. Don't worry. I will have this cleared up. Considering what's happened though, I should give you the map and send you on your way."

Finally! Now I can deal with the curse and go home! I'll get back to my peaceful life after so long! I wonder how Riley has been doing without me? Not only him, but what about Amelia? Not the princess, but the girl I found running from the monsters? I hope Kelly hasn't been too hard on her.

"That's great! I can finally continue on my mission to save the world."

Wait, I can't go just yet. I still need to tell him about everyone else in the dungeons that were wrongfully arrested.

"Before you do hand me the map, I should tell you about what I saw while I was in the dungeon."
