Grandmaster Windstrum

The training ground was silent, no one dare say a word. My sword is just an inch away at the side of Grant's neck.

I did such finesse and unnecessary action to accomplish two things. One: for them to realise I'm not as weak as it seems. And two: to declare enmity between me and the Student Council Board.

Declaring enmity is necessary because of what just happened with Ben. They tried to take Ben, who is already in my team because they didn't know another association like theirs exists. It is a pretty smart move on my part, isn't it?

Grant Grail just stood still, didn't bother to look back and kept a stern expression on his face.

Then suddenly, he smiled softly.

"I see." Says Grant Grail turning around to take his leave.

He quietly walked away. Keeping his calm and elegant composure, then his subordinates followed suit.

I'm not surprised as to why none of them tried to attack me or subdue me when I attempted to attack Grant because they are his subordinates, so I'm guessing either they think I am not strong enough or they feel Grant would have retaliated the second I brought Excalibur out but he didn't, so they wouldn't. Either way, it still worked out in my favour.

The students and wizards were still frozen. Not knowing how to access or parse what just happened.

"Not everything is based on your mana-class or magic-type." I just said it to make all of those who laughed at me look stupid and to give a word of advice to the scholar mages so they will want to join my rebellious faction, although I don't need weak people.

"Let's go, Ben. We have to register ourselves into our mage-class officially."

All the students gave way for me and didn't dare look me in the eye. I'm happy none of them wanted to fight since half my MP has been depleted just by using Blink.

We registered our names and were issued our class' schedule handout.

My scribe-mage classes are Draw Technique I, Handwriting I and II, Mana Fusion I, Symbol Training I, Mana Implementation I, Alchemy I, and Magic Usage Technique I – an enforcer-mage class.

Every first-year warrior mage must attend one scholar-mage class and a scholar-mage one warrior-mage class.

There are general classes every student for that year must attend, they are World History I, Basic Magic I, Beastry I, Language I and Mathematics I. That makes it 12 subjects essential for a first-year student.

I didn't bother to look at Ben's enforcer-mage classes, and it's not because I'm jealous or anything.

We met up with Elise outside the training ground and she told us she declined all the wizards' offer since she said she has that librarian, Vivian.

The first class in our class' schedule handout were the same, Basic Magic I.

We just followed every other student since the first class is the same for practically everybody.

After a few minutes, we arrived at the classroom, if you can even call it that. It is large enough to accommodate over 1000 students. There is a podium in the middle with seats elevating around it.

We entered and found seats in the front row of the class, and soon enough the class became filled.

A tall old man wearing the same type of clothing that the statue in front of the school wore entered the class. His bald head is being covered by a purple conical hat that bends slightly at the tip. He has wrinkles all over his face and has a long beard that stops at his waist, that is if I could even see where his waist is from that bogus attire.

"Mhrrmm! Greetings! My students. And welcome to General Magic High! I am the Director of this institution – Grandmaster Windstrum."

I quickly inspected him using Omega Eye.

[Name : Grimm Windstrum]

[Job : Director of General Magic High]

What the?!!! Why can it not get the data?

"I can see some of you students of this year are quite promising." Says the old man, looking at the area I am sitting before turning around to continue his speech.

Did he know I tried to inspect him?

So frightening. There hasn't been anyone who can negate the Omega Eye like this.

"I wanted to teach you, students, your first class to access you all. After today your real teacher will take over."

"So let's get to it!" The old man looked happy.

***

The first thirty minutes were just him explaining everything about magic. Mana-cores, magic-types, mana-definition, mana-connectors, and power signatures; everything Elise already taught me.

I sat quietly and listened to the first quarter of teachings but sank into my thoughts after that. I still feel something gnawing at my chest like I am forgetting something or someone or maybe something I am supposed to do, I just can't put my finger on it.

I returned from my thoughts because of the not-so-silent whispers from the boys behind me.

"I'm telling you, Grandmaster Windstrum is the strongest Sorcerer in Wricontien currently."

"But if he is, why isn't he classified as one of the Minor Kings?"

"It is because he doesn't want followers, plus, he has already gained a title."

"Followers? But wasn't he the mentor of the current Chess King?"

As I heard 'Chess King', I listen to their conversation with keen interest.

"Yes he was, but the Chess King mainly rolls with the Overlord. Also, he isn't the Chess King yet, he is the Black Candidate and is just given the position since no White Candidate has shown up yet for the official duel."

After that, I rendered their conversation useless. After all, I have already gotten enough information.

So Grandmaster Windstrum taught Constantine. I can use this to gather information on Constantine. I started thinking about my plans for revenge once again.

"You! Yes, you! Come out and demonstrate what I was just explaining." Grandmaster Windstrum pointed at me. I'm surprised but I have found an opportunity to use it to my advantage by gaining favour in the eyes of Windstrum.

I stood up and walked to the podium Windstrum stood.

I tried to remember what he said he was just explaining but all to no avail. I wasn't listening and now total disgrace is the price to pay.

But I am not that dumb. I know he was talking about the necessary things to know about magic so I just have to perform something all the mages should know how to do despite magic-type.

I breathe in calmly and at the same time I breathe out I released mana from my body, spreading my aura.

"Very Good!" Windstrum said, impressed.

"What is your name?"

"Danton Stonehead."

"Very well, Danton Stonehead! You may go back to your seat."

I sighed as I walk back to my seat. He also doesn't know Dad.

"That is the end of the study class today. Now we shall enter the real phase," Says Windstrum with a devilish grin on his face, "Battle Royale." He added.

Old skunks. They never get tired of the crap they always plan to do.

"This is how this is going to play out. I will choose ten students who will be the leaders and they will choose ten students who will be their followers. And yes, not everybody will participate in this event." Windstrum stated the rules of the team-versus-team duel.

"The individuals these blue orbs lands on will be the team leaders."

Windstrum opened his hand and a big blue orb formed, which then split up and formed ten smaller orbs.

The smaller orbs moved up into the air and dispersed with speed.

The orbs went around the classroom and after two minutes one orb stopped on the head of a student right across from me.

Soon enough eight orbs stopped on the head of students and two remaining ones are still hovering around.

I started feeling bored with everything, because I know I will be chosen and I don't believe there is anyone in this class that can defeat me, apart from Ben that is.

Smirking gently as the two remaining orbs head my way.

The orbs were hovering over Ben and Elise's head then stopped.

I wasn't picked.
