The place once again became a battlefield. Although Thanos' Black Order attacked the Avengers fiercely, they didn't do much damage compared to what Dark Crystal had done just moments ago. Therefore, the Avengers weren't afraid to fight back this time!
The Black Order had received significant downfall as their members were killed left and right! Supergiant was killed in a fight against Dark Crystal, Proxima Midnight was killed by Hela, Ebony Maw was killed by Dio, and lastly, Dark Crystal that was supposed to replace Supergiant was missing in action!
The original members left were only Corvus Glaive and Black Dwarf, while Hela served as a temporary member of the Black Order. It was common knowledge that someone as prideful as Hela couldn't bear becoming anyone's underling, so it was safe to assume that she wouldn't stay on the Black Order any longer than necessary. She knew that she wouldn't be able to defeat Thanos in her condition in the past, so she chose to abide by Thanos' rule until she found an escape route she could take.
She, too, knew that Corvus Glaive was waiting for the moment that she would lose her value to kill her as she was the one who killed Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive's partner. Even though Hela could turn her back towards Corvus at this moment, it didn't mean that Corvus had let it go.
Hela's eyes flickered on the battlefield as she stood still in the middle of the battlefield with her death sword. She would only kill those who attacked her first as she thought this battle wasn't her fight. She didn't take any part of this battle seriously as she didn't want to be here from the beginning.
Even so, she still cherished death as her own epitaph showed her true nature. She was the Goddess of Death, so death was her calling! She slaughtered those who dared to come near, and like a storm, she piled the body of the ones she killed under her feet!
Loki showed a complicated gaze as he noticed Hela among the Black Order. He couldn't say that he didn't have any lingering feelings towards Asgard. He was saved by Asgard. Odin took him from the Frost Giant and raised him as Asgardians, so he felt the same kind of sadness as Thor did to know that Asgard had been destroyed!
That was all because of this mad woman! Hela was the one who destroyed Asgard. Even though she didn't do it herself, she was the main reason for it to happen! Loki looked at Hela with a frown on his face before he transformed into an ordinary Wakandan Soldier and quietly approached Hela from the other side. He knew that he wouldn't be able to attack Hela head-on. Even if Hela had already lost her power source, he still didn't want to take that big of a risk.
Still, Loki was in a nervous wreck as he approached Hela from the side. He kept telling himself to try and hide away if he failed. This demonstrated just how cowardly Loki really was as he couldn't even brace himself to stab Hela in the back! But thanks to the chaos on the battlefield, Loki successfully snuck past everyone and stood behind Hela.
He knew that he couldn't attack Hela just like that, so he devised a plan! He immediately fought a Chitauri soldier who rushed near him and made it as if the Chitauri soldier successfully incapacitated him right behind Hela! Loki's acting skill was truly remarkable as everyone wouldn't know that it was a staged theatrical illusion.
Now, Loki wasn't any further than two meters from Hela! Loki knew that he was under an immediate danger of perishing if Hela just decided to turn around and end the insignificant life of a common foot soldier!
However, it never happened as Hela didn't even acknowledge the dying soldier behind her. Loki also knew that it was his only opportunity! He continued to act as if he was dying in his Wakandan soldier's illusion and rolled on the ground before launching his attack as he stabbed Hela in the back!
He believed that his attack would connect as Hela completely let her guard down, and without Asgard as her power source, she would definitely die this time!
But before his knife could penetrate Hela's flesh, she twisted her head and avoided Loki's attack! Loki immediately turned around as he was about to escape, but Hela immediately caught his wrist and turned towards her with a big smile on her face.
"Oh, good brother! Are you here to greet your sister?" Hela said as she squished Loki's wrist painfully, forcing Loki to kneel down in front of her. Loki's illusion immediately vanished, showing his original appearance instead of the Wakandan soldier.
"Is this a gift for me? You don't have to bother too much about giving me any gift. Your sister is very generous, you see. I wouldn't kill my own brother with my own hands." Hela said as she snatched the dagger from Loki's hand before throwing it on the ground.
She immediately threw Loki to the ground as she was bored already. But Loki didn't dare to act out in front of Hela, so he stepped away slowly.
"I am happy that you like my gift, sister!" Loki said as he took a glance at the dagger that Hela had thrown to the ground. "But I have to correct you about something! I am different than Thor! He is your real brother, while I am just an adopted son of Odin! So, strictly speaking, we aren't connected to each other!" Loki said coldly.
"So, did you want me to kill you right here?" Hela said as her smile disappeared, replaced by a cruel, murderous look on her face. Seeing Hela's sudden change in demeanour, Loki immediately calmed himself down.
"If you really want to kill me, I would have been dead earlier! But you didn't do that. Instead, you just let me go! Now, I understand that you wouldn't harm me as you need me for something. Am I correct?" Loki said confidently.
"You are one arrogant bastard! It's just too boring to kill you outright. How dare you make a bet on your own life after hearing a few words that come out of my mouth! You aren't as sly as everyone said you to be, Loki!" Hela said with a cold look on her face.
"You know, you just further emphasize that my hunch is correct!" Loki said as he laughed after hearing Hela's word. "As I said, you wouldn't kill me because you need me!" Loki said confidently.
