"So this is the place" Clara proclaimed in fright while taking a look at the others, whose expressions weren't the best either. Kevin himself stood there on the spot dumbfounded.
Immense evilness that spread from the underground, brought uneasiness and peculiar heaviness to his heart. With a look of contemplation, he glanced towards Okura, who was calmly stroking his beard in deep thoughts.
'Maybe I should abandon this mission' Kevin thought, seeing how everyone in the whole group wasn't making a move ahead.
"Come on guys, don't be nervous, we are the strongest people in this city. We need to believe in ourselves more," Adam snapped everyone out of their thoughts with a few words to boost morale, "Besides, if something happens, Una will just heal you"
'Una...' Kevin thought as his eyes wandered to the small person dressed in a white robe that completely covered the body wholly.
Kevin had seen this person before, it was the powerful healer back in the Gods Arena. He never expected this person to be someone from the top three most trusted people in the guild as big as Rain Hawks.
However, what Kevin wondered was why this person was working in the Gods Arena? For someone who has such a status in one of the top guilds in the city, money isn't something to waver on.
"Come on, snowflakes, get on with it," Okura grumbled loudly, "If we just stare at it, we won't see what's happening inside."
This time, everyone nodded in delight. The perception of having someone as strong as a general on their back makes you feel safe.
Kevin swallowed an accumulated cold gush of saliva as he resolved his own thoughts before finally deciding to go against his instincts.
After all, Okura is here. What could possibly happen?
With that thought, Kevin stepped forward, boosting the morale of the others even more as they moved forward as well.
"So how do we get underground?" Oliver asked in confusion, looking around, "I don't see an entrance,"
"That's easy," a smile rippled across Okura's expression, "We just have to breakthrough."
Okura gripped the handle of the blade as it was instantly enveloped by a strange white aura. The air around the sword flowed as if getting bathed in crystal water until the entire aura suddenly sharpened.
The intensity around it grew with each passing second, while the aura began to fade away, getting sucked into a sword.
Eventually, the aura dissipated, leaving only a dim, transparent shell on the sharp blade.
"That's an incredible control," Bud exclaimed, mouth agape, "Worthy of a general."
Kevin still didn't understand what all this aura was about, only that it could be used after reaching a superhuman level, which was still a long way off for Kevin, so he decided not to bother with it for now.
Okura grabbed the handle of the sword using even more force as he swung forward. The whole action was too fast for Kevin's eyes to even follow, and he didn't even notice how a deep hole appeared in the ground.
Everyone looked at the general with impressed eyes, however, a second later their expressions darkened. An incredible amount of chaotic aura seeped out of the hole, completely engulfing the group.
'I'm scared?' Kevin asked himself, glancing towards his uncontrollably shaking body. It was the first time something like this had happened, it's as if Kevin's body didn't listen to his mind at all.
"Not bad," Okura mumbled as a white aura enveloped his body wholly, "It seems that it's actually not that simple. Adam, call the military. We need reinforcements, at least two thousand superhumans."
'Two thousand superhumans?" wondered Kevin wondered while taking a step back.
If there is something so scary that it would take two thousand superhumans to deal with it, Kevin would run away immediately without thinking.
He would never risk his own life for a few soul crystals, he is a madman, but not to such an extent.
"Kevin, summon your beast," Okura said while glancing towards the pit below him. The depth and utter obscurity made it impossible to even be able to see the bottom.
The more everyone stared into the darkness, the more their hearts gloomed with unease.
"Kevin," Okura called out again, "When your part of the job is done, go home immediately."
'Is he worried about me? Well, whatever, that's what I was planning to do in the first place,' Kevin thought, looking at the serious expression on Okura's face, "General, what do you think is down there?"
However, contrary to Kevin's expectation, Okura said nothing more on the matter and simply glanced towards Adam, who was already talking on the phone.
"Kid, the sooner you do your part of the job, the better."
Even though Kevin knew something was fishy here, he didn't dare refuse the order.
A slight dark aura enveloped Kevin's hand as he called out, "Come forth, Servants"
Immediately, three figures rose from beneath the earth, attracting everyone's attention, especially the white robbed person and Bud's, as they saw Kevin's god power for the first time.
Okura eyed the trio, stopping his gaze on the tallest one, Wolf.
He reached his hand forward and pointed it at the beast, who felt a strange sensation go through his body. Wolf didn't like the feeling that much, but Kevin, who was on the side, commanded him to stay still.
After a few seconds, Wolf felt his body rise from the ground as if he could...fly? Kevin himself stared at the floating wolf's body puzzled.
Okura's power isn't just intensifying the gravity, it can also be used in reverse, by escalating it. This ability, when used properly, is a great leap in strength, especially for someone whose cultivation is at a tremendous level, like Okura's.
"Let him go down here" Okura affirmed while taking out his katana, "Everyone, get ready"
Glen, Clara, and Oliver stepped forward while pressing the button on their wrists, as three pieces of equipment instantly enveloped their bodies.
Glen with gold, Clara with red, and Oliver with bright blue.
The quality of their equipment was on par with Kevin's, which had been left to him by his powerful father, indicating that their strength should be about the same.
Kevin didn't gush any nonsense and ordered the wolf to jump.
A sinister smile curled on his servant's face as he leaped without any formality. He had always lived on the ground, envying the flying birds in the air, who lived their days carefree and comfortable.
And now he is given the chance to fly.
The jump performed by the Wolf was directed straight into the abyss as he immediately began his journey towards the darkness, leaving the group above in anticipation.
Wolf descended at a steady pace, but the abyss seemed never-ending. After a few moments of advancing, Wolf regained his usual stoic expression sensing something evil beneath him.
Although flying was nice, he couldn't embarrass himself so much as to die again because of carelessness.
"Is it still alive?" Bud, who was dressed in dark clothes that matched Kevin's, spoke up after losing the servant from the sight.
"It's still alive," Kevin answered while concentrating on the pit himself.
Though it was impossible to see what was happening down there, Kevin could feel his servant's emotions through hard concentration.
Which, at the moment, were only filled with immense fear and anxiety.
*BOOM*
Suddenly a loud bang echoed through the area as everyone disarmed their weapons in response, while Kevin felt the mana in his storage slowly diminish.
*BOOM*
Another explosion rumbled out of the hole, forcing everyone to become even more vigilant.
"It's dead," Kevin muttered, making everyone finally realize what was going on. A creature, or maybe even a few creatures above the fourth level of human were surely somewhere down in the abyss.
Such news had been expected, but the fact that there was an underground base for who knows how long with beasts in it still gave the group a slight headache.
However, that only made their expressions more determined as they vowed to take care of these invaders.
While Kevin, who was crouching on the floor, gazed intently into the abyss, not bothered by the constant blasts.
"What the hell is that?" Kevin slightly murmured, staring into the pit in horror. Numerous amount of red eyes appeared in the darkness gawking at the shaken Kevin back.
"Run," Kevin shuddered, seeing how the eyes were getting closer with each passing moment, "RUN".
However, the moment everyone's eyes turned towards the beasts, the ground beneath them suddenly sank in. No one could react in time as they were already falling underground.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?" roared Glen as his body increased in size, forcing the gear to become more elastic.
"It seems that the ground was on the brink of falling from the start," Okura calmly replied while spreading his hand forward. Immediately, everyone stopped as if stuck in mid-air, letting the group take a deep breath of relevance.
"From above," Okura once again mumbled as everyone glanced up. However, the sight over there was predatory. Hundreds of small bats were charging at full speed towards the flying group.
Kevin and everyone else prepared to fight back, which was actually disadvantageous for them since none of them had any real experience of fighting in the air.
"I'm sorry in advance," Okura said with a smile after seeing how the bats were getting closer and closer. However, just as both sides were about to collide, the gravity provided by the general disappeared.
No one could react in time as they began to fall into the abyss until completely vanishing from sight altogether.
