Accident

'It seems pretty solid' Kevin let his hand glide over the surface of the plane before moving towards the staircase that elongated from the center of it.

After waiting for the others to board the airplane, Kevin also moved with the military lady behind him.

Upon reaching the end of the stairs, Kevin finally managed to see the inside of the plane.

It was completely covered in brown paint, with dark shadows spreading out in every corner, making it a little creepy.

"Go," the woman behind said.

Kevin didn't even turn around and marched inside.

The seats were arranged in numerous rows of three on each side near the window. Each row in front was already occupied by teenagers who whispered softly as they looked at Kevin.

The only empty row was in the back, where the golden-haired woman could be seen occupying one of the seats.

The whispers of the teens didn't bother Kevin in the least as he moved to the back and sat down next to the golden-haired woman, who immediately moved away, leaving an empty space between them.

"Alright kids, we'll be leaving as soon as possible. If you have any questions, you can ask me or read the instructions in front of your seat," the woman said loudly, but the whispering around didn't die down, as for most of them it wasn't the first time flying on the plane.

The only one in doubt was Kevin. Even though he had read through the instructions, there remained one thing that still bothered him...

"Where are the parachutes?" Kevin asked loudly, catching everyone's attention.

"Oh...boy, you remember something like parachutes?" the woman snorted loudly before continuing, "This plane is made from the skins of a hundred different beasts and other precious materials. Even if attacked, not even a bruise would appear on the plane. There is no need for parachutes. Besides, if someone strong enough to destroy this plane showed up, parachutes wouldn't help "

"But what if it were possible?" Kevin didn't give up, thinking it was unreasonable.

"Shut up," a voice suddenly called from one of the front rows.

A black-haired boy with average features could be seen looking at Kevin in disgust, while the military woman didn't bother anymore and moved away.

'Such arrogance' Kevin's eyes flickered with killing intent as he tried to calm down right after attempting to no attract much attention.

However, it wasn't left unnoticed.

"Don't mind him, Markus has been arrogant ever since he received his new God power" the woman next to Kevin said.

'Markus? Isn't that the driver's son?' Kevin thought before replying, "What's his god power?"

"He has the ability to fly," the woman answered before adding, "Although he isn't the strongest, his god power has made him quite popular, that's why he became like this."

'Flying? Not bad,' Kevin thought.

"You don't seem to like him much," Kevin looked at the woman with interest. If she could talk this way about others means that her power shouldn't be lacking either.

However, Kevin didn't get any response.

"Since none of you have any more questions, then buckle up and get ready!" a loud voice rang through the area, disrupting everyone's conversations.

Though Kevin deemed it unnecessary, he buckled his seatbelt anyway, as did everyone else.

Loud engine noises immediately filled everyone's ears as Kevin felt a slight glimmer of light on his eye. He looked up at the window that was right next to the golden-haired woman's seat.

The familiar sight of the blue ocean, that revealed itself behind the huge gate, filled Kevin's eyes.

Every student, even Markus, had a bright smile on their face after seeing such a sight.

However, the sudden turbulence which forced each teen back to their seat dissipated the smiles on their faces.

The plane's speed promptly increased until Kevin couldn't move from the spot because of the sudden gravity.

'It's definitely faster than when I was in the army,' Kevin cursed as he adjusted his figure to the unbecoming force. However, to his surprise, the gravity disappeared as he felt an unpleasant vibration in his ears.

'We're flying already? But isn't this going too fast?" thought Kevin before looking through the window where an even more incredible scene opened up to him.

While most of the view still covered the ocean, part of Japan could already be seen from above. However, the sight didn't imprint itself on Kevin's mind as much though, instead, he was more interested in the girl who was still hidden beneath the robe.

The whole time, she didn't even flinch. Be it the incredible view or the force that pushed Kevin back into his seat.

'Either way, it's none of my business,' Kevin turned his gaze forward again, 'But the technology jump is truly massive. I don't even know how it's possible to rise into the air in a matter of seconds'

Kevin decided to read more about mankind's new inventions after the calamity struck when he has enough time. After all, almost every forum was filled with conversations about god powers and cultivation, only a few were interested in technology. It was common to not know such things.

"The flight will be quite long, so you should rest one last time before heading to the military," another announcement echoed through the plane as confusion spread across everyone's faces.

'What does she mean by "last time"?' That was the thoughts of everyone except Kevin, who already knew the true hell of the army from the internet.

Not only did they have to go through the carnage, but they also had to train every day and study at the military facility without any breaks.

'Since I have so much free time, I should take a nap,' Kevin thought before closing his eyes. Even though some of the teens obviously didn't like him, Kevin knew they weren't that messed up to do anything while he was sleeping.

Besides, the girl next to him didn't seem to like anyone from her class either.

After some time, Kevin was already in a deep sleep, reliving the same dream of Sophia's death.

A few hours later.

Rays of moonlight fell on the brown plane, which moved at a stable yet tremendous speed. All the students were asleep, some snorting loudly.

In the back of the plane, right next to Kevin, two ladies were whispering to each other, trying to be as quiet as possible.

"I'm sorry Laura, all the transporters were busy today and you had to relocate by the usual way," the lady in the military uniform said.

"Don't worry about it, at least no one recognized me. Who would have known that my classmates would be in this batch too," the golden-haired woman replied.

"Well, that's probably because of all the people rushing from Hiroshima town, causing other towns to crowd too much. But I didn't expect so many people to come here"

"Speaking of Hiroshima City," Laura glanced at the sleeping Kevin, "is he one of the survivors?"

"I'm afraid I don't have any information on this matter, but judging by the fact that he came here alone, it could be the truth" the woman replied. "What's the matter, are you interested in him?"

Laura unconsciously hid her face in embarrassment as she murmured, "Of course not, it's just that he seems more mature than others."

"Forget it, Laura, I'm going back to the front," the woman exhaled deeply before turning back around, leaving the slightly flustered Laura behind.

'She seems to be some kind of bigshot' Kevin smiled inwardly as his lack of sufficient sleep finally paid off. In fact, Kevin had been awake for two hours and the conversation piqued his interest.

'I don't know how, but this information will probably come in handy someday. I wonder though, why does she have to hide her face? Is she shy? Doe---'

*BOOM*

Suddenly, a loud bang sounded from the front of the plane, sending a huge echo into Kevin's ears, who immediately opened his eyes.

At first glance, everything seemed fine, but the huge shadow that covered every corner of the plane indicated that something is not so simple.

With sweat breaking out on Kevin's forehead, he looked to the left, where Laura was peering through the window, terrified.

-"What the hell is going on?"

-"Turn on the lights!"

-"It's too dark."

Various murmurs reached Kevin's ears, but his gaze didn't arch out the window.

"What is....this?" Laura placed her hand on the mouth.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of different birds could be seen incoming towards the airplane at full speed while some of them shot a strange liquid from their mouths.

Although the liquid seemed harmless, the moment it collided with the surface of the plane, a loud bang would follow.

Kevin could feel the speed of the plane slowing with each passing second, forcing a few wrinkles on Kevin's face.

"Where is that military woman?" Kevin muttered unconsciously while Laura, sitting there in shock, twitched her lips.

"GALE" Laura shouted loudly as she pushed Kevin aside and ran towards the front of the plane until reaching the doors to the pilot's room.

Seeing the running girl, all the teens left their stupor as they started to panic.

-"Come on, we have to do something."

-"MOVE"

-"RUN"

It was a trap.

With each passing second, the ordeal of the beasts grew closer and coupled with countless explosions that shook the entire plane, it was chaos.

The military woman did not answer, and the doors to the pilot's compartment did not bulge in the slightest, despite the force Laura used. Everyone was going insane.

The only person who still had a sane mind was Kevin.

'How can I be so unlucky?" cursed Kevin in his head.

"It seems like there's no other way" Kevin fixed his gaze on Markus, who was shaking uncontrollably while looking around as if asking for help.

Kevin's eyes flickered with killing intent.

"If I want to stay alive, sacrifices will be necessary"
