Chapter 8

After everyone had calmed down, we went back to the original room we came from.

What was the point of all that?

I stood next to Ezra and Xavier who sat down at a table furthest from the others.

"You can sit, you know" Xavier told me as he indicated towards the seat in front of them.

I waved my hands to decline. In my robotic self, I never once sat down. I never needed to since robots don't get sore feet. You could say that old habits are hard to die.

One of the other guys who had been staring at our table, stood and walked over to us.

He wrapped his arms around me and asked Xavier "So where is she from?"

You could ask me yourself, you know?

"She's from a small farm. Her family promised us that she would be a good asset to the royal family guards." Xavier explained

Oh, good lie. Well I guess it's not really a lie since Julia's father did call them over for that very reason.

"She looks so different from anyone I've ever seen. Where's she from?" The man asked

Xavier was about to tell another lie but the man continued.

"I have never seen someone with pure white hair like this. Especially this long. Is that gold mixed in it? And don't get me started on her eyes."

My hair was snow white with some gold strands here and there. My eyes had once been a light blue but after Julia died, they gradually started turning into a light green. Just like my robotic eyes. Not sure if that's related.

"And-" the guy tried to continue but Ezra pushed him off of me.

"Sorry, but she must be exhausted from the journey here and all these questions are not helping" he said as he sat back down

The guy grumbled and went back to his table. Nothing exciting happened after that...except the creepy stares I kept getting and the fact that I felt an eerie feeling from close by. So I looked down and found that it was Ezra who was staring.

He noticed that I noticed that he noticed me. Honestly, it's just one big ol' joke.

Ezra looked around and whispered "Why are your eyes open?"

My eyes? I tilted my head.

"You had them closed back at the farm but now they are opened. I thought you were blind or something."

Oh, right.

*Julia couldn't handle the intense colors and lights that appeared when she opened her eyes. So she kept them closed. But this is perfectly normal from back when I had a robotic body.*

They were silent for a solid second before Xavier turned towards Ezra "It still surprises me when she talks."

Alright. Someone hold me back.

I went back to my doing nothing for the rest of the time. I looked around us and saw that no one was doing anything, no training or exercise. So I asked Ezra *So this is what you guys do?*

"We have squads that protect the king and a separate one that protects the castle. We all rotate. Right now we're on break and the next rotation we will be guarding the castle. You can tour around it then, if you'd like."

I understood so I nodded.

As we waited for the next rotation, I got to know everyone's preferences. Whether it was a favorite food or a comfortable sitting position, I figured it all out. A.I. Robots are to know what our masters liked most and should be prepared for anything. We also know medical skills from the basics to brain surgery so our roles in society were extremely important. So it was only natural for me to know everyone's single movement.

"Hey!" Someone yelled

I looked over at the guy. He had black hair that reached his mid-back and black eyes.

"How come she's standing? Shouldn't she be able to sit? And why is she so expressionless? It's creepy. Like those robots from the other side."

Hehe...whatever happens next is not going to be my fault. No witnesses.

Ezra yanked on my arm as I started my way over to the guy.

"She's just like this. She used to be a waitress back in her hometown" he said

The other guy didn't want to keep quiet but before he could utter another word, a bell rang. Everyone stood, put on their armor, and gathered weapons from the far side of the room.

Oh, so that's what those were for. I guess it's time for work.
