Chapter 17

The sun had finally set. We were near the gates but far enough to where it wouldn't be suspicious. Well, as non suspicious as we could be.

"Alright Niko, you should probably make us small now. When we get in, we will need to keep going until we're far from the gates. Then, we can drink the potions and turn back to normal. Everyone understand?"

We nodded.

I imagined us all tiny and the world grew larger around us.

"Ow! That gave me a headache!" Leah said

Everyone held their heads and winced from the pain.

"Niko, do you not feel it?" Xavier asked

It does hurt but I'm not sure how to express it. I just nod yes. Good enough.

"Anyways, we should head out now" Ezra said and started walking to the gate

Xavier ran ahead, wanting to lead us. "We are not following your directions!"

"I'm sure I can lead this group just fine. I can even see the gate right there" Ezra pointed at the gate in front of us

"Knowing your bad sense of direction, we'd be heading right back to the castle."

Ezra huffed but followed Xavier.

We trudged along the now tall grass but made it to the gate in only four hours. Yeah...we didn't think about the time it would take us getting here when we're smaller.

"We're finally here but how do we get in?" Leo asked

"Since the gate was rushed, instead using bricks, they used boulders from the lake nearby. Which mean that there are small holes in the wall that that only we could get through" Ezra explained

"Including insects, small animals, and fairies" Xavier butted in

"Well none of those are going to help us, are they? And don't get me started on the fairies" Ezra said with a disgusted look

Leo leaned towards me and whispered "Since fairies are hard to keep out of places, the guards are more lenient towards them. And because of that, they think they are a more superior species. And since Ezra is half werewolf, they are even worse towards him."

I wonder why they would be mean towards Ezra just because he's a werewolf...WAIT! Ezra is a werewolf? Granted, he's only half. But still!

I looked at the dark haired man with light blue eyes. He keeps his hair in a ponytail at the top of his head which shows off his shaved hair on the sides. He was currently arguing with Xavier on something. He didn't look like what a werewolf would look like. Again, I have never seen a werewolf so I wouldn't know...I don't think.

I looked over at the others. I wonder what they are. Come to think about it, what am I?

"Alright! Let's get moving!" Leo interrupted Ezra and Xavier's fight to the death.

We found a hole that was big enough for the five of us to get through and we made it into Razael.

On the other side of the gate are houses. They are stacked up on top of each other. There is barely any room to move.

It's not just about not having enough food, but there's also not enough space for so many people.

"We should find a place to hide. Leah, any recommendations?" Ezra asked

"Oh yeah. Just up ahead there should be a nice roomy motel."

"Really?" Xavier asked

"No. This place has changed since I was last here. It wasn't as crowded. But there should be a patch of woods nearby for the hunters."

"Alright, we should drink the invisibility potion now then turn back to normal. We can hide in the woods until the king arrives"

We drink the potion and I turn us back to normal. No one was around so we weren't spotted. We made our way across town towards the woods that Leah mentioned.
