Day 150- 200 Sishui County

Wu Junjie, Yan Xiaobai, Lin Weiwei, Yu Wenjing, and Xu Haoxuan were childhood friends of the original Chen Fan. Rexford messaged them as well as the others every few weeks to get a better handle on them. Only a few were worth actually hiring and getting close with.

Yu Wenjing's situation was already done in Rexford's book.

The back and forth over the months revealed a good bit of their personalities and how they could fit with his plans. With one or two just ok enough for only speaking on friendly terms in the long run.

Yu Wenjing and Wei Rao immediately started talking when they saw each other. It was good they were getting along since Rexford already washed his hands with the stupid girl.

"Glad you're back!" Lin Weiwei said excited. During the messages and a few talks, Rexford openly flirted with her. Her interest in Aviation and wanting to be a pilot would go well for the transportation business. And her family martial arts helping in drawing her in that route. Seeing the change in person and the confirmation of his new name to call him from Yu Wenjing was an odd feeling. "So, got my gift?"

"He doesn't but I do." Wei Lan pulled out the necklace with an emerald inside it. "Better I put it on to keep him from getting handsy with you." She put the necklace on the tomboyish teen who stared at it.

"So pretty." Lin Weiwei looked it over and felt the warmth inside. "Getting handsy?" She looked up and could feel the heated gaze from Rexford. "Oh.. so he was definitely serious about that."

The messages between the two really got dirty a few times. Thinking them all over, Lin Weiwei enjoyed it very much now. But she was not a loose girl. So he would have to be let down in that regard.

"Serious about what?" A doughboy asked. This was Yan Xiaobai. Amounts to nothing and has no ambition to go further. After graduating, he just takes over his father's estate. "You look different... It was not a joke." On the list of just being friends with.

Xu Haoxuan graduates from Qinhua University and becomes pretty good in foreign investment companies. Which was great for what Rexford needed. Besides Lin Weiwei, he was the most spoken to. On the business list.

"Father, this place smells odd." Chitang sniffed the air. The different Qi's getting to him.

"Father!?" The group was shocked all at once.

"Yeah, he is my son. Don't ask too many questions about it. Not up for discussion either." Rexford had a car purchased already waiting to be used in the area. "Let's go get something to eat."

Xu Haoxuan & Lin Weiwei rode with them. The others in a car prepared by the fatty.

Going over the business in the car, the two were more shocked by the intelligence of Rexford compared to that of Chen Fan. Being a part of something small that would grow into something big lit the fire in the two further. The ambitious were always like that. Just needed a little more reassurance to do so.

As they got out of the car, one of them had to ask.

"When I went to Jinling, some punk pointed at me, cursed me, and verbally abused me." He said depressed. "I didn't even stand up for myself. I didn't want to cause trouble for my father.

"Damn, you have no real backbone, and are pretty pathetic." Rexford said nonsympathetic. "You stay way in Shishui County, the odds of them reaching out here were slim. Your father should have understood something could of happened when sending you there."

"I had to think about my family first." A weak explanation.

"Then keep thinking about them and use that as an excuse." Rexford shrugged. Wu Junjie and Yu Wenjing were of the same mind, both of stupid nature and would make a good stupid people couple. But Wei Rao was definitely not going to give up on her, not letting a childhood friend take his girlfriend. "Should have taken him down a peg or ambushed him to get your revenge."

"That's not me." Wu Junjie leaned against a rail and looked down at the crowd. "Haoxuan only cares about his studies, he barely comes around to hang out. Xiaobai is only interested in playing around and is a bit of an idiot."

"Both of them seem to be doing better than you though. Each one of them with a little more personality than a drifter like yourself going through the motions." Rexford frowned. "Yu Wenjing is a bigger coward than yourself and more used to being used than anything. Her family will be the death of her."

Rexford did not like speaking with the young man at all. He seems so.. ugh. Heading inside, he was ready to eat some food. Divine Sense picking up nothing in the surroundings so far. Wu Junjie was a bit of a stalker if memory served correctly. Even after getting denied by the girl, he kept going for her.

No means no man!

"So maybe you can tell us why Yu Wenjing is so different after leaving to visit you?"

"Don't really know or care. Her business is her own." Rexford lit his black & mile blowing the smoke out the window. "If she didn't tell you, then she doesn't care enough to tell you. So much for friendship, heh!"

If someone wanted to traverse trouble alone despite you offering help, not much to be done about it. You could respect the wishes no matter the outcome, or you can force yourself into the situation and make it worse and ruin your friendship.

Rexford and his family were of the latter. Your choice is made, deal with the consequences yourself. Every time they did it that way, life was good. The other way, well resulted in the death of one of their own.

Thinking about "Leroy" killing her, it was for the best to remember that hard lesson.

"Is she in danger?" Wu Junjie frowned in disapproval.

"Most likely." Rexford took another drag. One of the small benefits of being a cultivator allowed his lungs to take a lot of damage. The Black Gold Vortex prevented him from getting any diseases with the ability to absorb the damaged cells after detecting them. If they ever got close to that anyway. "Hmm?"

A small message from the Chen Family. He responded back to keep them from bothering him too much. it was not like he was not going to pay them a visit.

"Hey guys," Yu Wenjing came back a little nervous. "I have to go. Sorry for leaving already." She frowned looking at Rexford who didn't care in the least. 'He really was serious then.' Wei Rao and the Wei Family were strong but not strong enough to deal with the Witch Lord way out here.

"You really should not have come back then." Wei Rao did not like this at all. Yu Wenjing had lied quite a lot or downplayed her situation when they talked and met up for work the few times. "Master Mingyun.."

A few looked at Rexford in curiosity. They knew the Wei family was a big deal but to see a member speak with Rexford so respectfully was enough to make them think on it deeper.

"I told you not to get involved with the corpse." Rexford took a drag before getting up. He paid the bill and was leaving. "She is determined to kill herself, what right do we have to get in the way of that?"

Heading outside, they were about to get in the car and drive off but a fool had to act.

"Master!" Wei Rao came running out with Yu Wenjing in tow. He would not be able to live with himself if he didn't try harder. "Please, help us!" Seeing him look at his phone did not bode well.

The contacts of the Yuan and Gong families Rexford came to speak with about business just sent a message to him. They had to push the meeting back until later. Which allowed more wiggle room for himself.

It was best to get some more information before going further with either family. A few Suv's with people inside were the least of Rexford's interest.

Grandmother Snake and a few clansmen were there to pick up Yu Wunjing. She evaded them for a while but the word got around that a powerful Cultivator was visiting Shishui County. They assumed it was the Witch Lord coming to collect finally due to fewer reports with him.

Rexford did not hide a few actions since it brought the enemy right to him and kept him from having to hunt so many down. The others had left leaving Yu Wenjing, Wei Rao, Wu Junjie, Chitang, Rexford, and Wei Lan.

Another group pulled up in some vehicles. Bai Wuji and his allies. The fun times were growing by the minute.

"Hmm?" Chitang looked at Grandmother Snake oddly. The cultivation of the old woman and her pet snake messed with his senses. "Father.. can I have her?"

It was said in such a way, that Rexford himself was confused. He was learning to be a kid in the weirdest way. Seeing things that interest him and wanting them. Asking for Grandmother Snake as if she was a toy of sorts.

"Hmm?" Rexford's eyes shined looking at the woman but couldn't tell instantly why she would be so important to him. "If she wants to come to serve.. I don't see why not. Go get her son."

What kind of father would he be if not an encouraging one? Chitang was a centuries-old snake turned human after all.

"Hey lady," Chitang walked over without a care in the world. A few of the clansmen tried to stop him but were smacked away by a tail made of qi. Bouncing off of vehicles and breaking parts of the restaurant on impact. "you are not fully human anymore."

Wu Junjie's eyes were as wide as dinner plates. Seeing the speed and strength involved was one thing but the fact a kid did so was shocking.

The snake on Grandmother Snake did not move. It was completely terrified of the boy. So was she for that matter. Chitang cut his wrist and offered it up to her. The rich qi calling to them both.

"Drink my blood." It was not a request but an order. Grandmother Snake did so. She did not want to die. "You to." He said to the snake. It followed the order and then curled on its owner going to sleep.

*Shine!* Grandmother Snake received some scales around her face before they withdrew back. Her age regressing a good 40 years or so. Wrapping the woman in animalistic bestial Qi, Rexford could see why Chitang wanted to take her away with them.

The snake with the woman was the same as himself. Constantly receiving the energy allowed to nourish it. It would take several years at this rate before it became a spirit beast, but faster than it took Chitang in the wild.

"She is your woman, defend her with your life." Rexford said with disdain. He didn't like to get involved with shitty matters. The Yu family itself was a shitty matter, but Chitang was a good boy. He deserves rewards. "She wanted this more than anything by coming back and not training to resist this outcome. What would you like to do about it Chitang?"

"This Yu She' will not fail you!" Grandmother Snake kneeled on the ground submitting herself. "Give us any task you see fit!"

"I, want those under me to be happy." Chitang looked at Yu She' affectionately as well as the now sleeping snake. "She treated her well, I don't care about Yu Wenjing however. Or her family, so just them."

They loaded in the car and left just like that. Bai Yuji talking with Wei Rao. Not wanting to make a move just yet in apprehending the girl. By the looks of it, Rexford was not going to get involved. Wu Junjie dealing with the restaurant manager who came out to see what the fuss was all about became busy.
