A Meal and a show-
.
"This menu is something else.." Lin Weiwei looked at the prices and hoped it was as the cost. "ugh.."
"Order what you want to really try. This will only make it easier for next time." Rexford said already having chosen his meal. After being here in the country so long and the few dishes he ate previously when traveling doing business, what he liked was already established. "No sense wasting money and food on something really bad though."
"Turn to the next page, the last item is supposed to be really good." Wei Ziqing spoke cheerfully. Rexford acted the same as normal and for that, she was grateful nothing more was needed. "My father sent me a message that it is the best."
Understanding the young heiress knew more about these types of foods than her she nodded. It was also refreshing to have more tomboy's in the group when going out.
"Ms. Wei's father defintely should know his stuff." Wu Junjie sucked up a little. "I also heard from my friends that this is the most popular restaurant in the countless towns in the area. All sorts of tycoons come here to eat."
"Haaa.." Rexford gave a yawn as he stretched a little. Not really tired but wanting some excitement of the carnal or bloody nature a little. "..I hope the food comes quickly though. Could use something to eat."
Looking over to Lin Weiwei who defintely understood his meaning made for good fun.
"You're a lecher and a glutton it turns out! Humph!" She looked deeper at the menu pulling it up to hide the small smile on her face. 'Such a scoundrel!' The attention, was pleasant all the same considering the various women near him.
"Rexford.. no need to be like that to a friend." Yan Xiaobei voiced. The other didn't pay him any attention as he looked behind stopping a waitress for a drink and looking at a woman at another table. "You know her?"
A woman of standard movie beauty was sitting at a table with designer glasses, clothing, and a coat any sane person would never waste money on. She had a peaceful demeanor but also radiated Fear and a small Maleveolent qi was wrapped around her wrist.
"Yes, the falling Celebrity Yun Qianqian. I know of her to be specific." Rexford gave the woman a little wave before turning back around. "By the looks of it though, she is most likely hiding from someone. Celebrities are always doing something like that for any oddball reason."
"If she is hiding, why would you wave at her?" Wei Rao spoke as neutrally as possible.
"Because the people who are most likely looking for her will definitely catch her. This gives her a small way out by mentioning something or making an excuse." Rexford gave a grin as the waitress came over with his drink. "Thank you so much."
The waitress had recognized him and the fact so many people that were her type were currently sitting at a table, it definitely made her shift a hell of a lot better. She did keep it professional helping to speed up the order.
"You are welcome. I have taken over for my coworker who is just a little busy, have the rest of you decided on your order?" The young woman's eyes lingered on Wei Ziqing who was just to noble in appearance.
As the final orders were given, a group of people entered the area. Looking every bit the part of hired goons. The obvious leader of the group spotted Yun Qianqian who didn't even bother to wear a better disguise to get away when heading out.
A good wig and a little masking paste go a long way!
Yun Qianqian was surprised to see Mingyun Rexford in the place. It was a good opportunity to network with him. Also, get her away from the people hassling her currently.
Wu Junjie looked across the table with the Wei Family members. Wei Rao's missing arm was the main thing he wanted to ask about. "Why does Yu Wenjin look so sad?"
"Because her boyfriend got his arm chopped off doing something stupid." Rexford had to keep himself from actually smiling. He really found it funny that it happened to him. 'My humor is darker than before. Might want to watch that in the future.'
"From what?!"
"From the arrangement of her family selling her to the young Ghost Lord." Rexford told them to stay out of it but they just had to do it. Hard lessons were learned since it was better for people who currently lived in the area to understand certain elements. "I hope you didn't expect me to lie for you?"
"At least expected you to have it in you not to bring it up in public!" Wei Rao barked loudly. Mostly from shame.
"Calm down Rao." Yu Wenjin grabbed his thigh. "That is just the way he is now. We did cause quite a ruckus and a lot of money."
Embarrassed even further Wei Rao stood up and walked up sulking. He was sticking up for himself and Yu Wenjin but she didn't see it like that. Heading out with him, Wei Lan gestured she would take care of it and not to worry.
"Haaa, that was bound to happen." Wei Ziqing looked at Rexford with a sideglance. The grin was just a little too smug. "You knew that was going to happen, why push it so soon?"
"To get it over with. Fear and Anger give way to Resentment after all. Wei Rao's mentality was never strong enough to deal with the type of doormat she happens to be. To negatives make a positive in old school math, in real life not so much." Rexford took another sip of his drink amused. "She is a shell of a person and he was not much in your family from what I gathered."
"You are not wrong." Wei Ziqing thought for a bit and bit her lip standing up. "I have something to take care of, I will see you later Master Mingyun. Certain events are keeping me here. A family business at that." Respectfully leaving, she was surprised when the server stopped her with a box of food.
"All the food was ordered to go with only the entrees for dining." The server assumed she knew that. Seeing the redhead take the food and leave she just chalked it up to a lapse in judgment. "Your meals to go. Anything else you need?"
"No, the waitress took care of everything beforehand." Rexford saw her coming over with a big bundle of tea from the restaurant. He purchased 7/10 of it for himself. "Thank you so much, hope your boss understands the good work you have done."
"Yes, he has." The waitress nodded fast like a little chick. To be noticed by such a group could either go really good for her or really bad. "Here is the order form you requested!" She passed over the listing of the distributor the restaurant used. Surprised when he took it down and passed her an envelope. "?"
"You are a local who knows the area, it is a job offer to get me certain drinks. Namely tea and a few exclusive herbs. Consider this an advanced payment if you accept." Rexford mostly wanted her for the speed at which she worked in getting him the tea. 'Can never beat a local when getting something. Especially if it helps out the restaurant they work at as well.'
Thinking about what she could possibly have to do in the area, only a small event came to mind. The Equestrian Club but hopefully Rexford finishes the business he has planned before anything can go wrong there.
Agreeing, the waitress left to go inform the manager. If stock can be sold in bulk before it goes bad then it will go well for business all around.
"Hmm?" Rexford could feel his understanding of his Aspects speeding up. 'Emotional stimuli is still the better option to get results, I wonder how much I would need to push to see the ultimate understanding?'
"Producer Mingyun," Yun Qianqian came over respectfully. Greeting Rexford as professionally as she could while looking distressed. "Running into you is a good chance. May I sit?"
A few in at the table were taken back considering etiquette in China this was generally frowned upon. Considering the situation it could be considered bad timing too.
"Oh, sure." Rexford gestured for her to sit down to his left. "Enjoying some vacation time I take it?"
"Yes, just a little." Qianqian looked at the men in suits who were only stumped a little and not really wanting to push the matter.
"Annoying poison you have there. A circulation of Counterfeit Buddhist Prayer beads have circulated in the last couple of years. Released a slight "type" of neurotoxin into the person making all sorts of strange stuff."
It was kind of true since the beads were distributed by the crazed cultivator group and her Agent who was also her friend purchased it and gave it to her. Saying they were prayer beads when they were not.
Malovelent Qi could be considered a type of neurotoxin of sorts.
Rexford grabbed her bracelet and crushed it while she was distracted. A miasma left it spooking a few people at the table.
"You are welcome by the way."
"I.. umm thank you!" Qianqian's mind was racing as a type of fog left her eyes. it was expensive but if it was so harmful, best not to have it on her person. "I will have to ask sister Qin about that. She will need to go and get her money back from those con artists!"
The fact she didn't say police made a few laugh internally. If a shady group was doing something, better to go in deep with a few that can handle themselves or let the authorities deal with it.
The group ate the entrees and talked amongst themselves happily. With a few leaving beside the original group that was invited to go to the sauna. As they left, the manager of the place made sure to introduce himself to Rexford and promised to take good care of the waitress.
The man was not stupid and understood he hired her and she would be a go-between them when making orders. Which was good since the tea he ordered was no longer in demand and would get them a decent profit.
"I have know idea why you are with the degenerate rich young and old men from Hetian River, but I have a role I think you would be perfect for if you are interested." Rexford gave a small pitch as they walked. "It is much safer being with only one degenerate rich young man yah know."
"You are quite the card." Qianqian chuckled a little not minding his frankness. "Rumors say your staff is treated really well. How that is really true considering the entertainment feel is so.."
"Trash, you can say it." It was still the early 2000's after all. Lots of bullshit in every industry with the Chinese one blatantly upturned due to cultivation psychos. 'I can use her and that friend of hers to take on the International Market better. Not much longer before I step onto other Continents.'
"That sounds wonderful. I have had trouble recently with my roles." Qianqian felt better the moment the bracelet was destroyed. Her personal drive to push her career increasing every moment.
"Eh.. but you are so good!" Lin Weiwei was surprised that this was true. "Oh!" She remembered Rexford mentioned it a little earlier in regards to her career having trouble. 'Did he know she was going to be here?'
As they walked, a group of men followed behind. One talking on the phone trying to get a hold of Qianqian's Agent to get her away from the group. Something about Rexford made the man really wary.
