Producing a ring from the Black Gold Vortex, he put it on her finger. The gem was pretty strong and could cut through steel. Then placed a few protection formations on it.
"Married!" Wang Xiaoyun was shocked and found herself at a loss to say anything.
"How did you do that?!" The father looking at the fact a ring was produced out of nothing.
An Youya could feel the protection on the wedding band. It was quite powerful and gave her slight goosebumps when touching it. The gem felt warm and was striking to the eye. It was also a storage ring after the formations settled down.
"This is not how things are done!" Chen Yuxing barked.
"Heh!" Rexford sneered at the man. His amusement bordered on contempt. "Not how someone like you does things you mean. No, you rather run away like a child and try to do something from nothing stubbornly without help. Unable to even comprehend how bad you made it for others. Pathetic excuse of a man. A real man knows when to ask for help. Mental Health is a thing people like you lack greatly."
"Son.." It was the first time he was talked back to so harshly by anyone really.
"Favorite son of the Chen Family of Jinlin City, fell in love with one of the daughters of the Wang Family. Had a falling out with the Wang Family that has not been fixed over all these years because of pride and stupidity." Standing his ground, he almost wanted to break the man's arm. "Weathered a marriage that you gained nothing from with the Wang Family putting pressure on you from every turn must have gotten to you."
"I still stand strong!" Chen Yuxing barked back. But he was only fooling himself.
"Really?" Rexford was amused. "You weren't around much as Youya did most of the raising, since Wang Xiaoyun had so many troubles to deal with. Definitely not good father material or even good husband material with how you left her to the wolves of the family basically. Did you ever think about how they felt as you just worked in such positions that you knew would amount to nothing?"
"He is doing fine as a politician!" Wang Xiaoyun knew better of course. The position held in the small area was equivalent to that in the bigger cities but the power wielded was vastly different. 'I know of the power he has more than others, not even equivalent to a low-rank officer in the military.'
"He is not better than a bottom feeder position for so many years with nothing to show for it really." He gave the woman a slight glare. "All because he couldn't apologize and was to stubborn to ask for help. You haven't figured out the alienation from the Chen Family forced her to go to the Zhong Hai area to start a business did you?"
The man looked to his wife hoping the question wasn't true. He himself did not have an answer. More that he didn't want to think his family drove her away like that.
Rexford finally let his hand go as he got what he wanted. Removing the Gold Qi faster thanks to the physical contact made moving against this man a lot easier. He just couldn't respect someone like this.
"Pathetic excuse for a husband and father." The disdain and contempt were real. Everything about Chen Yuxing irked him. Standards meant shit when the people you claim to love were suffering. "Hiding away from your family responsibilities must be all you are good at. Keep it up until the day you die, which will be soon at this rate."
Wang Xiaouyun had heard enough and was visibly shaken. She stepped over looking at her son with rage plastered on her face.
*Smack!* A resounding hit across the face caused Rexford's head to turn the other way. Suppressing the reflex to backhand her took a bit of effort.
Of course, he allowed this smack to happen. He could have obviously stopped it or got out of the way but this was easier to allow to happen. That and even though restrain the hit against his body caused pain for Wang Xioayun.
"There it is, a fire for a man who has damn near abandoned you. Must be so good to be such a devoted decoration piece of a wife." His eyes glowed golden staring at her. "You know he is incapable of really conveying his feelings, damn near a statue. If you don't tell him how you feel after all these years, it is worse than nothing really if you die."
"Rexford.. I " An Youya grabbed his arm shaking her head. "..think that is enough." She caught the black swirl around his eyes a little. 'Sini Dova said if I see that, that means he is trying to remove someone from his life completely without killing them. She just didn't say what it was though.'
"Very well." He gave a shrug looking at the other two. "You should come up with whatever story you think will work." Pulling out an acceptance letter to a college in the states. "If anyone asks, you can just say your son Chen Fan moved away after getting a scholarship and makes no plans on returning."
Wang Xiaoyun, unfortunately, had too much Gold Qi inside her to remove in one go. It was so plentiful it was nauseating how deep the influence the woman had on him. Considering she was assassinated in the original timeline, one would think it would be easier to take away.
"Do you really mean to break all familial ties with us?" The letter shook in her hand with a few teardrops hitting the top.
"It is for the best." Rexford gave a look towards Chen Yuxing. "The work you are doing can not be worth her happiness right? If you really love your wife as you claim, why don't you make a sacrifice for once instead of her doing so?"
"You don't know what you are talking about son." Wang Xioauyun encouraged her husband everything is ok with the family situation. "We are doing fine, you work so hard at your job and the progress is fine for the Real Estate Business."
Chen Yuxing just nodded as he looked at Rexford. Unable to understand what changed about his son but also not really knowing much about him to match it against. When he was young, the boy was a troublemaker so it was not that far-fetched he was so aggressive to him currently.
Chitang observed everything and had a lot of questions for later. Having caught his father's disposition change very minutely when signing the marriage certificate. A bit of sadness exuded from his backside.
"I suggest you distance yourself from the Chen Family completely and the Wang Family." Rexford said. An Youya knew this was coming but didn't think he would say it so bluntly. "Not only do the Chen Family look down on you after all you have done, but the Wang Family also have not forgotten the fact you married him against their wishes."
Chen Yuxing was not surprised about the Wang Family still not liking him. But the Chen Family was not the best but they were not as bad as Rexford made them out to be. He was just too far away from Family events to knowthe truth.
The beauty of one not close to the family after all these years was showing in the naive view he had. Youya bit her tongue and did not speak on how terrible the family really was. Especially the second older brother and most of the pampered members of the 3rd generation.
"Chen Fan.." Wang Xiaoyun bit back her tears trying to speak. ".." Words failed her, unfortunately.
"Chen Fan, you are young. You do not know any better." Chen Yuxing said with steel in his voice.
"Call me that again and I will leave." Rexford gave the man a hard stare not backing down. "If you can't respect my decision to change my name to this, do not expect me to respect you at all. In anyway. I didn't have to warn you or help you at all."
"You are still my son. We named you Chen Fan, so that is who you are." Chen Yuxing's stubborn side was back and going to cost him more than he knew.
"Youya, call me when you need help. If it is acceptable I will intervene accordingly." Rexford gave her a kiss on the cheek then called Chitang over. If the Chen Family goes down and Youya doesn't bail them out, it would be a lot easier to take hold of them. "Let's go, son. Say goodbye to the fool."
"Byebye fool!" Chitang smiled following along. It was not until they were at the entrance anything was said really. "Was that ok to leave like that?" He sounded even a little sad.
"Yes. He wishes to go down with the Chen Family, so I will not get in the way of his choice."
"Rexford!" Tang was right in front of him with Jiang Churan. "Were are you going?"
"Back to my house in the city." Rexford got in the car with Chitang waiting outside the car. "You want to stay for a while I won't stop you. Make sure you listen to Tang and Churan."
"Ok." Chitang nodded.
"Wait.." Churan grabbed the door and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. "We will take care of the stuff you don't want to deal with. I.." Turning to look at her mother who smiled she said something that shocked them all. "I won't lose to my mom, either!"
"Pftt!" Tang almost fainted on the spot. "We are not doing anything like that silly girl!" With crimson cheeks, she was about to chastise the girl but she thought of her dreams lately. "Rexford has been as close to being a gentleman as someone like him can be."

Rexford's Villa-
.
At home, he worked away on his cultivation and the finer points of the Space Movement Technique. The Aspect of Space opening up to him more and more in the different ways it could be used. The amount of Math involved was annoying.
He needed to know the full coordinates to anchor a proper spot with his Divine Sense. Then he needed to open a bit of Space without damaging the Dimension in any way. Which was the easy part but not that difficult to gauge the Qi usage.
'If I can just get down how much it will take for myself to move to the Space then it will be easy. 'Storing in the Internal Space then pulling out after will help a lot.'
The Mini watched as he moved about and developed the technique further. It wouldn't be good to use in battle due to the Qi control needed. Defintely good for transportation and business work.
'Are you really going to go and colonize a planet?' The Mini thought to him.
'Hell yeah!' Rexford like the idea of colonizing planets. 'Think of all the material to get thrown into the Black Gold Vortex to make Rich Qi! Also free real estate then I can set up additional Killing Array's to protect the Earth to! Early warning Systems on Venus!'
'Makes sense considering the traveling cultivators and the Ancient Mayan Civilization that think they can do whatever the hell they want to Earth and its people.' The Mini floated around as he thought over the timetable. 'Plus Space would be better for breakthroughs when the disciples need to do so. The Tribulations will grow stronger in time.'
Stopping his training, Rexford pulled out a laptop. The shipment of oxygen, nitrogen tanks, and the completed Bio Domes were waiting for pick up. Purchasing the structures from various businesses went a long way.
"I need to understand Nature and Gravity more. Creating a man-made Atmosphere is difficult." Rexford made a few more purchases before changing gears. "The Warm Qi gained by being closer to the Sun will speed up my Cultivation a hell of a lot more."
Happy at the thought of a faster growth, he dived deeper into his Cultivation. Communicating with his contacts about different methods and insights they have gained in cultivation recently.
