How to not raise a child

Azula came into the bounty office. "Good morning, who's baby is that ice queen?" The man at the counter asked with a sarcastic grin. The one-year-old and mother both glared at the man. "Fine, wondering where you went, never thought the dragon of destruction would have a hatchling, where's the father?"

Azula answered simply. "I killed him." Informant gulped

"Fine, wanna know what my job is little one?" The girl curious nodded. "My job is to steal information on wanted criminals and pass it further to bounty hunters, most of which are mostly non-benders armed with tranquilizers. Unlike your dragon of a mother." The girl stared and signed with her hand. "What is she doing there?"

Azula decided to explain. "Easier method of communication." The informant look at the girl.

He chuckled. "Does she change her own diapers?"

Azula simply answered. "Yes." The informant looked shocked and passed a file of information to her. "A killer, former member of the Terra Triad, they get less creative by the day. The last known location was a mile away from here." Azula picked zaya up and left the office.

They rode toward the location of the target, Zaya stood outside a bar and Azula threw the target out of the bar with a fire blast. The man grabbed Zaya and held a knife to her throat. "STAY BACK! OR THIS KID GETS IT!" Azula just smirking at him. "WHAT?!" He demanded in a frenzy of rage and fear.

Azula walked out of the bar and the criminal walked backward signaling Azula that this man had a conscience. "If you had to take a hostage, why take an orphan?" Zaya didn't show much emotion, she only knew a stranger took her and that he had a thing that hurts when you touch it the wrong way. "No one is screaming "let her go", or anyone pleading with you to free her, She's an orphan." The grown man gulped and Zaya was frustrated that this stranger was holding a sharp thing to her throat and that mother wasn't intervening. "I believe she is more dangerous than you." Azula made a few hand signs, Zaya knew what it meant as she breathed out fire causing the man to throw her away and Azula fired a lightning bolt at the man, causing him to fall unconscious.

Zaya walked over and kicked the man. Azula picked the girl up and the man was pulled onto a second ostrich horse. "Surrender the child and prisoner." Azula looked at the two village guards, she simply smirked then multiple lighting flew through the air. They all were easily defeated without a real fight.

Zaya yawned at the guard and snuggled into her mother's chest closing her eyes. "There, there, you did good my little salamander." The infant sighed joyfully as they rode off.

6 years old

Zaya yawn walked out of the bed and calmed her hair. The worst safe house was in the Si Won desert was the worst one. "So hot," Zaya said before drinking water from a wooden cup. Azula picked her daughter up was figuratively melting. "Nooo Training." Azula smiled and just plopped the girl on the hot sand without shoes. "Aaah! Hot hot hot! My feet are burning!" She said until she got used to the hot sand.

Azula just smiled at her jumping around like a frog. "Basic katas and then advanced katas, I will be back in an hour." Zaya did the katas that were drilled into her since she was four and had mastered it to compilation. This was the cycle: Train, eat, drink, rest and Train. Better than the week she spent at that earth bending School, those poor Kids, Zaya had fun beating them up though.

Azula came back with a ball, an actual toy! Zaya acting like a hyperactive puppy jumping toward it until Azula let it fall and kicked it. "That's how you play it, try kicking it as high as possible." Zaya Smiled as she was actually having fun for once. Azula had a different motive as this was a way of training Zaya's kicks since she was lacking in that category. Azula watched the child laughing as she kept kicking higher and higher for weeks every time she got the chance trying to break her old record.

"Mom, I'm bored." She told her mother and Azula to take the ball before setting it on fire. "Nooo" Zaya stomped. "I hate you!" Zaya said before Azula signed her to do more Katas and Zaya did as told because she saw those on the bad end of her mother's wrath and they usually ended up scarred for life.

Azula watched seeing that her form became less lousy and more focused, yet it was more violent causing concern for her. At sundown, Azula rode off and Zaya released a burst of fire at the sand, watched the molten glass almost instantly hardened. she just stared at the artwork she created. "So pretty." And then it shattered. "Everything is mama's fault." She said than doing it again to see the class form before it instantly shattered into tiny and then she made the mistake of stepping on the ones that shattered.

When Azula returned to find a crying six with class stuck in her foot. Azula pulled the piece out which was painful for both parent and mother. "Zaya, what did you learn?"

She thought about. "Never bend fire at sand and never step on the sparkly stuff." Azula sighed pulling the last piece out. "I'm sorry mommy, but you burned my toy." Azula sighed and relented, giving Zaya a gift. "What is this?" She opened the packed gift to see a sheathed dagger. "Wow" She unsheathed and read. "ent- eternal, luke Luck! Is this for me?" Azula nodded smiling at her daughter's joyful grin, Azula was surprised to get hugged.

Children are odd beasts one moment they're happy and another they are bored, the next they say 'I hate you!' before going back on their normal self.

No wonder her mother hated her, Zaya on the other hand didn't hold a grudge for long.

Ten years old

Zaya launched lighting Azula who redirected to the ground easily. "I hate lighting redirection, it feels like stealing. It's unfair for the one attacking."

Azula just stared at her daughter, questioning how she was still so innocent. "It was derived from water bending Zaya, their forms use their enemies against. Smart that won't help when the current travels from the water to your head." Zaya nodded and then her mother fired at her which was blocked with a firewall. Zaya took a page out of earth bending via pushing the created fire toward her mother who destroyed it with a large fireball.

Zaya created jets of fire from her feet flying out of the way, when she saw the lighting headed toward she dodged by simply falling. "Mom why can't we be normal?" Azula pulled her daughter up.

"Because we're above all," Zaya was about to argue but Azula continued. "and we're unique." She had agreed with that. "No matter what we will be there." Zaya smiled and got thrown on an ostrich horse. "Now, who wants to beat up a bunch of earth bender?" She had a grin.

Present

All those flew through her mind and now she was in the ballroom again locking eye with the Fire lord.
