Kyle's Powers

"Okay!" I said through the bangs and screeches, "Please come quick, Tyler"

I hung up my phone and covered my ears from exploding due to the loud explosions and shouts coming from behind me. I pulled my knees into my chest while sitting on the low grass, the twine cage protecting me from whatever was happening behind me.

It's been a while since I found out that my ex-classmate has some sort of powers and the fight started. I didn't dare to move from my place judging by the sounds of inhuman hissing and howling, like what the hell was happening in there.

War?!

I would have been worried to death about Kyle if he had gone with bare hands but finding out that he has some kind of wood magic, I didn't know what to feel anymore. That was uncalled for.

A particular large bang on the tree vibrating on my back made me yelp.

"WE ARE NOT HERE TO DWELL WITH YOU, KYLE MILLER!" there was a loud distorted female voice booming causing even the leaves to shiver in its sheath.

"GIVE US THE GIRL AND WE LEAVE YOU ALONE" another voice equally distorted as the first one but deeper.

"HAND HER OVER!"

Three voices from three different women chased us.

"NEVER!" that was undoubtedly Kyle but with an odd power in it.

And here we go again swishes of fireballs and loud bangs.

At this point, I'm so done with it and I can't believe I rolled my eyes at the situation.

I heard the sound of a very familiar jeep pulling over amidst the pandemonium causing me to abruptly get up from my spot and grab the twisted twines in front of me but they were firm as iron bars. I tried to pry them apart but no result.

"WE WILL BE BACK!" a loud boom and three cracks then it was silence.

Then there were footsteps nearing me. Finally, Kyle came into my sight with Tyler, Shelby, and Chase following him each with their power ranger swords.

With a flick of Kyle's wrist, the twines loosened themselves and fell to the ground. He pulled me towards him by my arm causing me to stumble a little on the twines at my feet.

"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly inspecting me.

"Shouldn't she be asking you that?" Chase asked raising an eyebrow.

Kyle had bruises on his jaw and neck with burns on his hands along with bleeding lips. Those were what I could only make out then what about internal damages? I couldn't believe he just fought to save me from those…women creatures. He hurt himself for me moreover he protected me. He cared.

I didn't know what to say.

"It's nothing," Kyle mumbled but wincing when he lifted his hands a little.

My eyes immediately catching a dark bloodstain on his elbow.

"C'mon, let's go home" Tyler announced.

"I guess you need answers?" Ms.Morgan asked with a sigh.

I nodded crossing my arms.

We were in the base. Everyone either sitting or standing with their eyes on me and Ms.Morgan. Kyle stood right beside me leaning against the wall with a blank look on his face. She already guessed what happened when we walked in with grim expressions.

"Kyle," Ms.Morgan called and the guy immediately lifted his head, dark bangs covering his eyes, "Did she see your powers?"

"Yes, Ms.Morgan" he gave me a single glance then went back to bowing his head down.

"There's no point in hiding anymore, then" she sighed massaging her forehead, "Though Keeper wanted to tell you himself, it can't be helped" she looked at me, "Go on. Ask what you want to know"

I took a deep breath trying to choose a question from my exploding head with overflowing questions. I'd to take it slow. One at a time.

"Who am I?" I asked.

She looked a little taken aback by my direct question.

"You are a half-blood" she broke the ice.

I wasn't surprised, somehow.

"What about Kyle?" I asked but this time Kyle answered.

"I'm too," my eyes took his small smile, "Son of Demeter, Goddess of Harvest"

"So, the Greek Mythology? The gods and goddesses stuff is real?"

"Yes, every God's real however the Greek Gods and Goddesses are more powerful because they rule the west where the power vests now," she explained.

"You mean that the stuff is written by Rick Riordan is true?" I widened my eyes, "Kyle has told me about the women which attacked us were Hade's servants. Does this mean Percy Jackson is real too?" I was damn curious.

"Yeah…he's and everything in those books. All the fictional worlds are real, Alisa" Shelby explained, "There are different dimensions in this world with different veils and entrances. Not every fiction is fiction"

"I don't understand" I shook my head squinting my eyes.

"Look, I'm guessing you've read Harry Potter books right?" I nodded my head to the question thrown by Rilley, "It's written by JK. Rowling right?" I nodded again," This world is not her creation, it already exists. She wrote the book according to her experiences in this wizarding world, all the characters and places are real. Those books themselves are only that our timezones are different"

"But how did she get in there? Through the barrier in Kings Cross Railway Station?" I asked.

"No, she's a witch," I gasped at the information from Tyler, "She's a half-blood witch, her father a normal human while her mother a witch. The story of Harry Potter and his legacy was overly famous back then and she was very intrigued by it. Once when she was with her great grandmother she stole a time turner and got in it. You know how it works, right? She traveled to the past and future of Harry Potter, noting everything, and finally, when she went back home she wrote it into papers later publishing it into a book due to financial problems. She's indeed a legend for writing those into words and describing every single thing very detailed however when her grandmom got to know about this she took the time turner away from her."

"Then wouldn't the wizards and witches know about these books already? I mean this series record-breaking best seller all over the world. Wouldn't they have come across at least once?" I asked.

"They have," Ms. Morgan answered simply, "They know about this but they can't do anything. Some things I've been altered by Ms.Rowling while writing the books one of them being the characteristics of time turners. Time turner can be used to travel back and forth in time but we can only see what's happening, we necessarily can't alter what is already decided. In other words, we can't change fate, nor destiny. So, even if someone decides to tell the one and only Harry Potter that he's gonna be killed by uh he-who-must-not-be-named, nothing will change, he will be killed by this evil wizard"

So, the fate and destiny thing exists.

Which is not good.

Like who wants their life to be already planned out?

"Just like the wizarding world, the other fictional words are also real like Shelby has already said. "Middle-Earth from The Lord of the Rings, Narnia from The Chronicles of Narnia, Westeros from A Game of Thrones, The Land of Oz from The Wizard of oz and many many more with different portals to enter these lands" Chase explained further, "Just because they're labeled as fiction doesn't mean they are. The people we call the creators of these worlds went there and they're sharing their experiences with us"

"Wow…that's a lot to take in" I breathed in awe.

"We know, that's why we didn't fill you up sooner" Ms. Morgan reasoned.

"But why in the world were these Hade's servants following me?" I asked perplexed at the livid thought. What does the God of Underworld have to do with me?

"Well, the thing's that…we don't know" she rubbed her arms nervously, "It's quite normal that monsters get drown to half blood easily but it's like attacks follow you everywhere. Maybe it's because of your slightly different scent. We don't know why unless they say something. We just know that you're special"

"Who's the God or Goddess that's associated with me?" I asked narrowing my eyebrows.

"I don't know," she sighed again, "I can only predict something when you're determined"

Perfect. I'm not even determined

But I was curious as to which godling was gonna be my mom or dad.

"That's it for today," Ms.Morgan clapped, the sound echoing throughout the silent base, "We will talk about this tomorrow. It's very late," she turned to the idle Kyle, "You should get your wounds and burns patched up before it gets infected. Good night, everyone"

Everyone dispersed whispering good nights.

I turned to Kyle who was already looking at me.

"C'mon" I mumbled walking past him.

"I can do this by myself, Alisa," Kyle told me but winced when I pressed the antiseptic coated cotton to his bloody wound on his veiny hand.

"No, you can't" I mumbled concentrating to not hurt him much.

Right after we reached our shared room, I picked up the first aid kit from the bathroom shelf and brought it to Kyle. He was confused when I asked him to sit down on his bed and stood still eying me for a solid minute. I dragged him to do so followed by me rolling my eyes and started tending to his burns and bruises which were already painted dark red. And now, he's protesting that he can do this all by himself and that I should get some rest with all that's happened today. I hated all of this. I hated that he was being nice to me completely not his past cold selfish self. There was this doubt in my mind that he may be pretending to be nice but that genuine glint in his eyes made me think about my thought twice. So, ignored his protest entirely just making sure that I pay back my debt for protecting me.

He got hurt because of me.

This was the only thing repeated in my mind not how close we were or how Kyle was examining my every move with an unexplainable expression just like how he did back on the island. Whenever he winced, he fisted the bedsheet and clenched his teeth but never retreated his hand from mine.

However, when I pulled up the sleeve on his right hand, a kind of tattoo was imprinted right below his elbow; a flower or plant, I assume. I frowned while I traced my finger on the curls and leaves, taking in the symbol.

"Uh Alisa," Kyle squirmed uncomfortably, "It tickles"

"Oh, sorry," I retreated hastily but the frown remained, "What's that?"

"This?" he looked down at his arm, "It's the symbol of Demeter acknowledging that I'm her property"

"I haven't heard something like that before. Do Gods do that?"

"Many things have changed after the war, Alisa," he said sighing, "Rules have been rewritten and revised. A whole revolution took place because of Percy Jackson. Half-Bloods can now go to school and study, the dyslexia is not in our way anymore. And some other stuff too but the thing's we've rights now. We're not treated like outcasts anymore. We're free except for the fact that monsters still attack us when they get a chance, though it leased past these years"

"That's great," I nodded, "Percy Jackson is indeed a hero"

Kyle chuckled, "You're a die-hard fan, aren't you?"

"I am," I smiled shrugging.

"You should smile more"

"What?" I lifted my head my hands stilling on the bandage over his hand.

"Nothing" he shook his head looking away.

I continued patching him up and finally patted the final cut, with a content nod.

"There you go," I looked for any other spot I might have missed but saw none.

I hummed satisfied before packing everything back into the box.

A hand abruptly caught mine.

"Alisa…" I heard Kyle sigh, "You know we're gonna go to school the day after tomorrow. Like I've told before we would have to work together but the bond between us doesn't have a name. I seriously want us to be friends. I've never had friends before but I want to try it. You told me you'd think about this when everything between us clears. Now that it did, will you…um think about it?" he looked somewhat desperate.

I thought for a moment.

He has practically saved my life today. Is it okay to give him another chance?

"I'll think about it," I nodded.

"Really?" his eyes widened, "I thought you were gonna tell me off again. I'm glad, thank you" he smiled wide which took me by surprise again.

Why the hell was he so happy?

"Oh, and I guess I won't need these anymore" he carefully took the lens out of his eyes.

My eyes widened when I saw that his orbs're green, like fresh evergreen with a hint of sparkles in the corners. He looked mesmerizing with green eyes like he wasn't without them.

"How-"

"The color of your eyes changes when you're determined," Kyle explained placing the black lenses on his mirror table, "New installation to the half-blood characteristics, I guess"

"Wow" I gaped at him.

He strode towards me with a smirk playing on his lips and leaned down to my level.

"Take a picture" he whispered while I stared into his sparkling green eyes, "It'll last longer"

I huffed out air scoffing, "Your charms don't work on me, plantsman"

"Plantsman?" he chuckled lowly, retracing, "I like that name"

I shook my head rolling my eyes turning away, "Get your butt on your bed, dude"

Kyle just stood there with a sly smirk before finally moving to sleep.

'What's with the new attitude?' I thought while getting under my covers after changing into nightclothes.

Whatever!

He's changing his behaviour like he's changing clothes.

So confusing!
