Chapter 6

(T/W: Homophobic slurs)

Jason heard his alarm ring and he reached over to turn it off. He hadn't been able to fall asleep so he was working out instead. But now he had to get dressed for school. Which he dreaded. He did not want to see that pretty brunette anymore. He knew if he saw him he would feel guilty. Jason sighed. His phone dinged and he picked it up. It was from Jamie who was trying to convince him not to go through with the orders given to him.

He had to though his boss was the one who raised him. His job was the thing that kept him alive how could he just disobey them. Jason was sent to get close to Karson and take him out. They knew he was the man for the job due to him having been diagnosed with Alexithymia since he was five years old. His boss thought he would have no problem killing Karson.

But they didn't know the struggle he was going through at the moment. He wanted to follow orders but he wanted to protect him at the same time. He sighed and left to get dressed.

Meanwhile, Karson was on his way to school. He was tired. Physically and mentally. He tried to get some sleep the day before but it didn't come easy for him. He pouted as he entered the school. He had no friends to talk to so he went straight to the fields. He walked around a bit before he decided to head inside. While he was walking to his class someone tripped him.

He looked up and made eye contact with Aiden, a scowl made its way onto his face. Which of course Aiden didn't like that. "You don't scare anyone fag" Aiden spat as he kicked his stomach. Karson groaned in pain as he did his best to shield himself. The wounds his father gave him hadn't healed yet and now Aiden was just adding to it. The bell rang before Aiden could do anything else. Karson sighed in relief. Everyone that stood around watching left, disappointed.

He stood up and took slow steps to his class. He took a seat with a blank look on his face. Karson was looking around when he noticed the dark-haired boy from yesterday. He sat up confused. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. He thought.

"Good morning class. I want to introduce you to our new student, Jason" Mrs. Jimenez greeted with a smile on her face. Karson heard the girls next to him whisper about how cute he was. This is gonna be a long day. He thought a sigh escaped his lips. He layed his head down on the desk already wanting the comfort of his bed.

His day went on slowly. He did his best to avoid Aiden which he surprisingly succeeds in. Karson walked to the bleachers a smile on his face at the thought. He walked to his sleeping spot which was just a hidden space under the bleachers. He lied down and stared at the sky.

Eventually, he fell asleep. He didn't notice how late it was until he heard a loud crash. Karson sat up quickly confused and worried. He saw Aiden standing over Jason. "Who the fuck do you think you are?!" Aiden yelled. Jason stared at him unfazed. Aiden of course didn't like that and was about to hit him again. Jason dodged and Aiden hit the bleachers. Karson flinched at the loud noise. Jason then threw a punch to his stomach.

Aiden fell over groaning. "Get the fuck away from me" Jason spat. Aidan's little followers pulled him away from Jason. "It's not worth it man," One said. "Yeah, I don't feel like getting beaten up" The other replied. Karson sat there in shock at what just happened.

Jason sighed as he sat down. Karson slowly poked his head out. "If you were here the whole time why didn't you do anything?" Jason said bluntly. He turned his head to face him. "Sorry I was too shocked to move" Karson apologized ashamed. Jason pats his head. Karson smiled up at him. His smile faded and turned into a worry. "Your hurt," Karson said as he reached up, placing his hand on his cheek. He did his best to crawl out from under the bleachers.

But he only hit his back on one of the seats."Ow balls" He cursed as he held his back. "You okay?" Jason asked. "Mhm," He hummed, smiling. "Ok time to treat the patient," Karson said happily as he pulled out his small cat pouch. "You sure love cats don't you," Jason said as he looked him up and down. "Yes, they're so cute and fluffy" He smiled. "Yeah, I guess you are" Jason mumbled staring at him fondly. "I'm sorry what was that?" He asked confused.

"I said your an idiot" Jason said as he patted his head. Karson pouted as he glared at him. "You don't look the slightest bit intimidating," Jason said as he flicked his forehead softly. "I can be intimidating" Karson huffed.

"Yeah, yeah whatever" Jason laughed. Karson suddenly pushed him down onto his back. He was hovering over him. "You'll regret saying that" He whispered a mischievous glint in his eyes. Jason coughed awkwardly. He didn't know how to react. He avoided eye contact as he pushed him away gently.

"You're not intimidating" Karson mocked him. "You weren't intimidating" Jason rolled his eyes, his ears turned red as he looked away. "Yeah, yeah you keep telling yourself that" Karson smiled as he cleaned his wound. Jason didn't flinch at all. He smiled and placed a strawberry band-aid on his cheek. "They're all cleaned up," Karson said, happy with his work.

The bell rang before Jason could say anything else. "Well, I have to head to class now. Here have this" Karson pulled out something from his pocket. He placed it in his hand before saying "Bye. I'll see you tomorrow". Jason watched him walk away before he looked down at his hand. A lemon-flavored candy was placed on his hand.

He tilted his head to the side confused. He didn't understand what he was feeling for the boy. But he did know one thing. He was gonna have a hard time killing him.
