CHAPTER #16:Nanny

The Baudelaires left before us and so did the Blanchards.

We were the only ones left. Eirlyn was downhearted for our departure but I reassured her to send her a letter for our safe arrival.

The clouds swayed slowly by the light eastern breeze passing by. The sun momentarily came out to bestow some of its gracious light upon the freezing world.

Had we stayed another day there, it was almost impossible to reach home by next week.

"Ah~Home sweet home." I got out of the carriage and stretched my arms.

"That's not ladylike sugar cube." The countess said as she got out of the carriage with the help of the coachman.

"Eh, ~?But Lucien is doing the same thing, mother." I argued pointing at him who was doing the same thing right now.

"Please watch your step madame." The coachman cautioned for the slippery spot on the ground.

"Thank you, John." Inina thanked him and offered him a gold coin from her pocket.

John bowed humbly in gratitude and got on the driver's seat and rode off the carriage to its place.

"Come on now let's go inside and warm yourselves up." She urged us to quickly go inside.

"Welcome back Madame, young lord, and young miss." The head maid welcomed us with a warm smile.

I ran towards my room and found my nanny walking out of her room into the corridor.

"Nanny~!" I ran and clung to her.

"Young Miss!?" She looked down both startled and joyous of my return.

She hugged me as usual with genuine kindness and honesty.

This is why I loved her as my own family. Although she was of a lower class society she still was able to raise her status to a middle-high class through her hard work. I heard that her grandchild was about to be born. So she would only remain here for another year. Even when there were servants fired or hired or left for personal reasons I never bothered. However, It made me a bit sad that she would resign and leave the mansion so soon. Since nanny would remain special to me who was Lucien's nanny before I was born.

"How happy am I to see the young miss return safely."

"I am glad to see you again too." I passed a big innocent smile.

To her, I was an open book. She could read me as if she read the thoughts of her own child.

So there was no need to act up in front of her. Whether I acted like a spoilt child or a grownup. She would only accept me for who I am.

"Let's go to my room. I have lots to tell you about Eirlyn's birthday party."

"Oh, my ~the young miss is in good mood today. Let me get some snacks and desserts while over. The confectioner baked your favorites knowing you would return today." she smiled and left for the kitchen.

I went into my room and dressed up into a more comfortable indoor wear.

The dress gifted by the viscountess was graceful yet elegant. It was a perfect choice since I mostly preferred formal and elegant colors like royal blue, black, white, wine purple, or deep red. Gold and silver were no exception. I hated bright or pastel colors. Since even in my last life I could not bear the look of such free colors in my wardrobe.

Mostly because that pink bi*** Han Lisa used colors like those to prove her innocent figure in front of that bastard Jonathan.

"Ugh~And here I was in a great mood." I frowned and sat up on the couch.

"Did I make you wait, my dear~?"

I heard the nanny's kind voice on the door. She was carrying a tray so I rushed to open the door. But the door opened before me.

"Shall I join Nanny and my baby sister?"

"Brother Lucien?" I was surprised by his sudden visit to my room.

"What brings you here?"

"Well, the nanny was coming to you so I decided to tag along." He smiled.

"We're you ditching your spearmanship lessons again?" I narrowed my eyes with suspicions.

"How rude of you Luna. The spears and archery are the only lessons I never ditched apart from horse riding." He protested.

"Hmm ~?"

"I am being serious." He slowly came forward and started tickling me.

"Haha!Alright! Alright.Ahahaha...I believe you so let go of me." I tried to break free from his grip. This idiot knows where I am ticklish the most.

"It's so heartwarming to see the two of you get along so well with each other." Our nanny smiled tearfully.

"I pray that no one will be able to ever break the loving bond between you two."

"Nanny why are you like this." Lucien patted her shoulder. He was now taller than her and our mother.

It wouldn't be long when he will be equally standing with father or maybe even taller.

"Then let's have tea on the terrace, "I suggested.

" But it's cold outside," Lucien said.

"There should be no problems since it's not snowing. Besides having tea in the winter outside is refreshing."

"Oh my. Then my lady and the young lord should dress warmly." The old lady went for my wardrobe to bring out my winter shawl.

"I am alright nanny. I already broke a sweat during the training. Take care of Luna instead." he reassured.

"I think nanny will feel colder than us," I asked her to take my shawl instead and wore a cloak that was on my bed.

"Goodness what will I ever do with such precious and loving children?" she sighed.

"What about mother?" I asked Lucien.

"She is busy with a pile of workload since father has been away."

"I pity her."

"So do I. I wish to grow up quickly and take over her workplace. At least she will be able to relax and spend more time with you." He looked at me passing a faint painful smile.

-"What's that all about?"I wondered why my heart ached as well.

"It's not like mother will leave us and go away somewhere far from us."

"Young masters. Tea is ready. Please come and drink while it's still hot."

"You are needlessly worried. Let's go before everything gets cold." I grabbed his hand and led him to the terrace.

- "Let's have fun while we can. My dear big brother."
