Selfish

This was an exercise where we wrote a poem about a life experience. I chose a really painful breakup. I got really emotional while writing this as the experience really hurt. I based some of the lines off of the song SELFISH by The Kid Laroi. I highly recommend listening to it. Enjoy!

I hope you know what you did to me,
Now my heart is oh so cold.
But I am grateful for what you did for me,
Now I don't need to be told.

People can be quite dangerous,
It really puts pain in my eyes.
Honestly I am grateful for us,
Otherwise I'd do naught but cry.

I think I get it now,
Thought we'd last and turn into ashes.
But sometimes I still wonder how,
All we had were crashes.

Behind my back you slithered,
It really makes me wonder.
Our love withered,
And my next one will be torn asunder.

You hurt and betrayed,
I thought you loved me but you ain't.
Why couldn't you have stayed,
Now my heart, forever stained.
