Bias and Potential

"Think carefully father. How likely was it in your time at Hogwarts to find a pureblood student look down on a muggleborn, and call them Mudblood? How often did you in your capacity try to stop such a scenario? Did you step in to rescue the muggleborn or join in on the cheer, out if fear of being singled out from the other Slytherin students? Did you openly oppose those who cursed and bullied muggleborn students or were you always a part of the crowd?"

Seeing my father willing to answer, and my mother ready to join in to support him, I silenced them with a hand.

"And before you respond, think very carefully on my next sentence. How many others were there like you? How many purebloods actually opposed those bullies? And now think about this. What actions were taken against the offenders, were they suspended, punished severely, or merely points deducted and a small amount of detention imposed in them? And did that change them or make them repent their mistakes?"

Seeing them close their mouths, I continued. "It is said, fools are those who commit to the same actions expecting different results. If repeat offences were punished with same admonishments and yet failed to affect them were the use of said demeaning words interdicted within the castle premises? Now extend the same situation in school to a larger scale, where there is no escaping the bullies who now have control over your livelihood, and decision making bodies in the government. Where the majority of the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary powers rests with those bullies."

Seeing their questions answered, I turned to my father, "And now you tell me father, how competent do you think the Ministry will be in this geo-political climate? I can bet my inheritance that the lowest levels of the Ministry Departments will already be filled with corrupted crooks who are bribed to act at the terrorists' discretion. And the firsts of the many departments to be turned will be the Department of Transportation, Department of Misuse of Underage Magic, Department of Misuse of Muggle Artefacts, Department of Registration, and Department of International Cooperation. And Obliviators of course. Ah and Committee for Disposal of Magical Creatures, too. The last one is especially important, almost as much as the Department of Transportations."

By the end of my rant, I had floored my family. I had a smug face that said "Praise ME!" with all its unholy glory.

But it was my turn to take a spit take, when my father followed up with a question. "Shouldn't the Department of Mysteries and Department of Magical Law Enforcement, along with the Department of Criminal Apprehensions, where Hitwizards are assigned, be on top priority?"

I looked at my father as if he was joking. "You are joking, right?" When I saw my father was not, I turned to the next intelligent person on the roster.

But grandpa was asking the same question silently. I Had to ask, "You seriously don't see the problem with that grandpa?"

Grandpa shook his head. "No Aqi, I am afraid I don't. That seems to be the logical choice."
