Evangeline finished her breakfast of porridge and tinned apricots. She passed the bowl casually down to Echo who lapped up the remains before licking his black vulpine lips. Angie smiled at him, and he wagged his tail, looking back up at her. It was a custom among witches to keep familiars, most often cats, and that the familiar would serve the witch faithfully until death.
While Echo certainly served Evangeline, unlike most witches, however, she treated her fox familiar as an equal, a friend and companion. She passed the licked-clean bowl to Horris with a nod of thanks before she headed out of the tavern, Echo in toe. Together, they headed to the docks, she smiled and sighed happily as she inhaled the salty sea air. It was a beautiful sunny day, not very common for the isle of Mysthaven was often quite rainy.
