Why is Iggy popular in the campus?
Iggy is the son of one of the Deans in this university. The College of Engineering, to be exact. His family also owns one of the biggest construction company in the Philippines.
Anzures. His surname is so popular their family’s business is all over the news when it comes to construction industry. I realized that I’m too focused on myself and my hobby. I should have realized it the sooner I heard his name.
He already visited our house too many times and I didn’t even noticed it. That’s the reason why Miguel knows me.
Ah, yes. He doesn’t like being called Iggy, too, when he already considers you as his friend. Only his father (an annoying and caring father as what he describes) and some workers in the campus are the ones who call him by that nickname.
“See you later around then?” Miguel said as he proceeded to his next class. I am alone again in this room full of unknown people.
I sighed. During the previous class, I learned that he is friendly. And my first impression of him being creepy is gone.
Well, first impressions should not last. I’m glad that we became comfortable with each other after that embarrassing incident.
I sat on the last row of the room and quietly waited for the next professor. This is my last class for today and I can’t wait for this to end.
First day of class and I’m already too tired for this shit.
I fished out my earphones and plugged it on my phone. Listening to music while waiting for our prof doesn’t sound bad at all.
Thirty minutes have passed and my classmates decided to leave the room. I was about to stand up when someone tapped my shoulder.
“Hi!” she greeted.
“H-hello.”
She lends her hand. “I’m Princess.”
I accepted it.“ Sabinna.”
“I saw a pin on your bag. You’re a Point9 fan?”
Oh!
“Y-yes.” I smiled. “Are you a fan too?”
“Yes! It’s rare to find a Point9 fan in this campus.” She held my hand again and swing it excessively. “I’m glad I met you!”
I smiled, still getting shy with the attention she’s giving me. “Me too.”
She noticed my slight discomfort and let go of my hand. She’s still smiling widely. “Sorry, I just got too excited.”
“It’s fine. I’m just too shy for my own good.”
“You’re pretty! I like you!” she praised and I blushed. “Let’s be friends!”
I nodded, still blushing. “Okay. You’re pretty, too.”
And that’s true. Her wavy, brown hair accentuate her hazel eyes and long eyelashes. Her smile was so wide, bright and infectious I could not help but to smile back at her.
“I know right?” she giggled. “Do you still have classes?”
I shook my head. “This is my last class for today.”
“That’s great! Let’s go?”
“Uh, go where?”
She shrugged. “Maybe to the mall? If it’s okay. I just want to leave this hell for now. My first day of school didn’t go well as planned,” and she laughed.
I remembered what happened earlier between me and Miguel, and my pissed off brother who almost punched him. First day of class is really memorable huh.
“Yeah, me too.”
We went to the mall and shop. Not me, though. Apparently, Princess likes to shop whenever she’s stressed out. Kind of worried of her because that “stress reliever” is not healthy.
Well, who am I to complain? Although she’s friendly, we just met earlier. She’s still basically a stranger to me.
But I’m glad that I met someone who shares the same interests as mine. We talk about our favorite band: Point9. The band is still not widely-known as they just debuted two years ago. That’s why it’s really nice to meet Princess.
I just hope she doesn’t mind if I don’t talk too much.
“You’re really shy, aren’t ya?”
I nodded before eating a spoonful of ice cream. I am not hungry but she insisted to treat me for some ice cream, saying that I must be tired from our impromptu shopping. In the end, I agreed.
“Don’t you have friends to hang out with?”
I shook my head. “Some of my friends are already out of the country. Some of them… well… I guess people change.”
She nodded. “That’s sad.”
“But I do have some online friends.”
“Online friends?”
“Yeah. I met them on Tumblr. They’re also fans of Point9. I met them twice already. We’ve been friends for a year.”
“Wow! That’s nice!”
I smiled. “Glad I met them. And you, too.”
She grinned. “Me too!”
We talked some more about our favorite band. She told me that she already met them in person once. Meanwhile, I told them about my little misfortune.
“My brother is just too nosy. He’s the one who told our parents that I booked a flight going to New York without them knowing. He also told them I bought unnecessary stuff and wasted my money.”
She guffawed. “But you don’t have to be too secretive about it! If I were your mom, I would also be mad at you.”
I pouted. “They just could not understand.”
“Then let them understand. Be a healthy fangirl, Sabinna. They’ll soon realize that they give you inspiration and not some unhealthy obsession. And they’re also worried. You should not stay in your room all day. Go out your house, breathe some fresh air, exercise!”
“I don’t exercise.”
“You should. It’s a good hobby.”
I raised my eyebrow. “Healthier than shopping, I guess.”
She sheepishly smiled. “Touche.”
I sighed. “But honestly, you’re right. I should show them that being a fangirl is not a bad thing.”
She smiled. “We should do this often. It’s nice to hangout with you.”
Her phone suddenly rang. She rolled her eyes the moment she answered the phone.
“I brought my car, dumbass. I’m at the mall with my classmate.”
I continued eating my mint chocolate ice cream. I shivered. It’s getting colder. I guess I should really exercise and gain some weight.
“No, I’m not.” She rolled her eyes again. “You’re here too?”
She looks really pissed.
“Fine.. We’re at BaskinRobbins.” She ended the call and faced me. “You know, you’re right. Brothers are really annoying.”
Oh. Her brother.
I grinned. “Told you so.”
She looked at me while eating. I felt my cheeks blushed. She really likes to look at people, she told me that.
“I just realized that you look familiar.”
“Hmm? Do I look like Summer?”
Summer is the drummer of Point9. She grimaced.
“Sab, you’re pretty but Summer is miles-away prettier than you.”
I laughed. “Ouch.”
“But yeah, you look familiar.” She shrugged. “Anyway—”
“There you are!”
We looked at the person who called Princess.
My mouth gaped when I saw Miguel. He looked surprised, too.
“I told you I’m not with a guy, fucker.”
He frowned, withdrawing his stare at me. “Hey, language.” He looked back at me and smiled widely.
That hypnotizing smile…
Hey, what am I thinking?
Wait! They’re siblings?
“Sabinna, he’s my brother Miguel.”
“I know. She’s my classmate, too.” He wiggled his brows. “She’s also Terrence’s younger sister.”
Princess looked surprised and faced me. “That explains why you looked familiar! You look like Kuya Terrence! Wow! Small world!”
Both of them are looking at me. My introvert self is caving in. “Uh, yes.”
Miguel took a chair and sat beside Princess. Now that they’re sitting beside each other, I saw the huge similarities. Their eyes are both hazel, and they both have wavy hair.
They almost look like a twin!
“So, why are you both here?” He asked and took Princess’ ice cream and ate it. He saw some shopping bags beside his sister. “You went shopping with Sabinna?”
She nodded. Miguel smiled apologetically. “I hope you didn’t get too tired.”
I shook my head. “No. I had fun.”
He smiled at me. And I swear to God I felt my heart skip a beat.
What the fuck?
Princess snatched back her cup of ice cream. Miguel just sheepishly smiled. “We also talked about random stuff.”
He looked at me. “Oh, so you must know now about Point9?”
Princess nodded. “Kuya, as a matter of fact, she’s a fan.” Princess said.
Miguel’s brows raised, almost looking surprised. I bit my lip. He’s staring too much.
And what he said next surprised me.
“That’s nice. I’m a fan, too.”
