Cameras were flashing, well-dressed patrons were chatting loudly, and specially selected jazz music was pumping through the speakers when Carter arrived.
Abigail was surrounded by reporters and cameramen elbowing each other to get to the VIPs. Carter stood silently leaning against a dimly lit pillar with his large bouquet of colourful flowers. He was nervous about the media that was there. They reminded him of the time when his family was stalked by paparazzi outside their Manhattan home. It happened when his father allegedly had an affair with a starlet.
Abigail caught sight of Carter between photos, and her eyes widened. “Thank you all. Could I kindly take a short break?” With a gorgeous smile, she sashayed over to where he was standing.
"You came!” Abigail exclaimed.
“Yeah, I was down for my work so I thought I would drop by.” Carter said with a wide grin, “Surprise.”
Abigail laughed, “Well. I’m so glad you came. Are these for me?”
