Chapter 9

Its been really busy at the office since Christmas is just a few weeks away, many companies want to publicize their brands before the rush hour time. My work has become much more harder as the head of content planning turned in his resignation letter a week ago, and since the holidays are already here it will be much harder to find a replacement now. You can guess what happened, exactly, I'm doing his work too.

Mom has insisted to come over for Christmas just so I won't stress to go all the way to see her. I decided to invite Cass and Michael too, to spend the Christmas together.

Introducing Chris to mom and Cass would kind of draw the doubt away from him that I'm not trying.

Chris and I are not exactly official yet but we're working towards that gradually. I know its not fair on his own part that I'm finding it so difficult to open up to him, I really feel bad but I'm trying my best to keep him happy at least and I make sure I let him know what a great guy he is every single day. He's kind of rubbing off on me a little bit I must admit.

The office has been really busy today majorly because we have to wrap up everything before we get to December. I've been walking around the building inspecing and make corrections here and there. When I finally got to my office, it was lunch time and I had a ton of work on my desk awaiting me. Without thinking, I dived into the paper work.

I had no idea how long I was into my work till a call from my phone brought me back. I picked the call and waiting for the person on the other line to say something so I can recognize who it is, because I forgot to check the caller's ID.

"You forgot to check who was calling again right?" My lazy eyes shot open as a smile spread uncontrollably on my lips. I giggled a bit before answering.

"Hey you"

"Hi, how's work going?"

"Tiring and frustrating"

"Sorry about that, have you had lunch yet?"

"Uh..no not yet, why?"

"Good, cuz I'm outside your office with lunch. I figured since you couldn't get anything to eat this morning, knowing you, you wouldn't have gotten lunch either because you're so busy. I decided to get us something so we'd have lunch together"

"That sounds like me, thank you"

A few minutes later, he walked into my office with two paper bags of food in his both hands.

I walked up to him with a smile on my face and hugged him. He held on to my waist with the bags still in his hands after the hug and kissed me on my both cheeks.

"Hi" he managed to say through his smile and I smiled in response.

"You bought us lunch?" I said trying to look through the bag to see whats inside.

"I made it actually, I had a little time after my meeting and I remembered you didn't have anything this morning" I immediately hugged him and smiled.

"Thats really thoughtful of you, thank you"

"You're welcome, now come on, have a taste and tell me what you think" he said directing me to my chair before serving me the food.

"Dig in" he sat down opposite me looking at me expectantly.

"This shit isn't nice one bit Chris" I said with a disgusted face. I watched as his expression changed from happy to worried, then to apologetic.

"I..I... I'm really sorry" he said trying to take the food away. His face changed from being mortified to nervous. I couldn't hold it anymore and just burst into an uncontrollable laughter. He paused before looking up at me, I bet he was thinking I was crazy but I didn't care, I laughed harder.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it I was just playing with you"

"Are you for real?"

"I didn't mean it seriously"

"Jeez Tina, you hurt my man ego" he sat down trying to look hurt. I started laughing again and he joined me.

"Alright lets eat this delicious food before it gets cold shall we?" I served his own food and we both ate. After eating, we talked a bit, mostly about how work was going.

He got a call from the office about a problem arising and he had to leave. I stood up and came closer to him and place my hands around his neck.

"Thanks for the lunch" I said with a smile on my face.

"I'm sorry I have to leave like this"

"Its totally fine,please go"

"You sure? I mean I can stay if you want" he said holding onto my waist tighter while flashing me his white teeth. I giggled and put a hand on his chest.

"I'll be fine Chris, please go, they really need you thats why they called right?" He nodded before tucking a few strands of my hair behind my ears as he leaned in and kissed me.

"I'll call you later OK?" He said and giving me the last kiss on my forehead, he rushed out. I stood rooted at the same spot smiling at his retreating figure before getting back to complete my work for the day with a smile on my face.
