Taesung's POV:
"Umm, Good morning." Her raspy morning voice was so amusing.
"Why don't you fresh up? The breakfast will be ready within few minutes."
She walked to me like a penguin and examined, "What are you making?"
"Pancakes." I smiled at her.
She was rubbing her eyes and said, "I love pancakes." She yawned.
I chuckled and said, "Hurry up, Noona."
"Hmm." She walked out of the kitchen and I concentrated on cooking.
I decorated the dining table with pancakes, fruits and warm milk. After freshening up, she came to the kitchen and the decoration immediately made her smile. She loved it when I cooked for her. I pulled a chair for her. She smiled and said, "Thank you."
After taking her seat, she grabbed her plate and took bite of pancake, "Umm, it's wonderful." Noona was moaning while eating pancakes.
"You are really a little chef, aren't you? Your wife will be so lucky." Her mouth was filled with pancake and her voice was muffled.
I chuckled and murmured, "Cute!"
"Huhh? Did you say something?" Noona's both brows were raised as she asked me.
I smiled at her and waved my hand, "Nothing. And I don't know if I will ever have a wife."
She frowned, "Why not?"
I chuckled, "Why would a girl intertwine herself with a broken person? I don't have money, I dropped out from school, I don't have family. I don't have anything."
She scoffed, "No, you are wrong. Any girl would be lucky to be your wife. You are caring, good-looking. You know how to fight and protect. Most importantly, you know how to cook."
I laughed and said, "Is that how you measure the good qualities of a man?"
She clicked her tongue and said, "No. That's not all still these are some required qualities. But, what I prefer most is loyalty."
"If I believe what you said then would you marry a guy like me?" I didn't know why I asked that question.
"Of course. You are a good person. If we were same aged or if I didn't consider you as my younger brother and you would propose me, I would have said yes." She was munching on food and keeping her gaze on her plate.
I smiled at her.
"Besides, the men who cook, are the hottest men on the earth. You should be confident." She said in high pitch as if she was excited.
I couldn't control anymore, so I laughed. Noona also smiled at me.
"You know Taesung, I was expecting eggshells in the cake. But I should have known better. Your dishes are fucking amazing." She was eating like a hungry baby and when our eyes met, she blushed and looked down.
"I am glad that you are enjoying the food." I smiled at her. "Umm, Noona? I was wondering something."
"What is it?"
"What happened that night after I left?" I carefully asked her.
She stopped chewing and looked at me in the eyes, "I thought you will never ask." She leaned back on the chair.
I cleared my voice, "I am extremely sorry. I wasn't thinking properly when I left you."
"Why did you leave?" She asked me seriously.
I licked my bottom lip, "I was scared."
"Scared? Of what?"
I glanced at her, "I was scared that you would hate me. That, you will think I am a bad person."
She laughed, "Why would I?"
I was puzzled, "You wouldn't?"
"Of course, not." She confidently told me.
"What did you do? I was expecting police would come to investigate, but they never came."
She chewed on her bottom lip, " I took the knife with me."
I was surprised, "What?"
"After you left, I checked their pulse to see if they were alive. The one you had beaten brutally," She looked up at me, her eyes looked cautious, "I used his cellphone to call emergency number. I tricked them.
I was frowning, "How did you trick them?"
"I changed my voice." She was pinching her nails.
"And?"
"Later I buried the knife. Police didn't come to investigate because those bastards were wanted. Besides, police didn't find any evidence against the criminal." She mumbled when she uttered the word 'criminal'.
'Oh my dear Noona, you didn't need to mumble. I am a criminal, indeed.'
"I checked around but didn't see any CC camera."
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose, "Noona, do you realize what have you done? Police could arrest you."
She frowned, "I am not a kid Taesung. I knew damn well what could have happened and that's what I wanted to happen."
I was bewildered, "What do you mean?"
She took a deep breath, "I wanted to drive them to me. I didn't want them to arrest you and I would have found a way to solve the problem."
"How would you do that?" My voice was raising.
"I would tell them that I did everything to save myself. It was an act of self-defense." She was getting irritated.
"Without thinking about your safety? Noona, I don't understand. How can you be so stupid?" My voice was getting profound.
That was it. She looked at me sternly, "So, What was I supposed to do after you ran off like a cowered and left the mess for me to clean! What did you expect me to do?" She gritted her teeth while uttering these.
I flinched. She was right though. I definitely left like a cowered. All I cared about was how Noona thought of me.
She sensed my silence, "Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you."
I shook my head, "No, I am sorry. I should have known. Still, it doesn't make sense. Why did you risk your safety? Police could arrest you." I was sure, the bewilderment was clear on my face.
Consequently, Noona gave me a consoling smile, "You see, just the way your biggest priority is me, my biggest priority is you. I already lost Nabil, I don't want to lose you too." She held my left hand and gently squeezed.
I felt like I could lay my heart down to her feet. Nobody ever cared like this for me. For once, I considered myself as the luckiest person.
I got up from the chair and knelt down to her and took her both hands as I looked at her in the eyes, "I am sorry for yelling at you. It's just, I am over protective of you. I don't want to imagine what could have happened to you."
She smiled at me and messed my hair. Afterwards, she cupped my left cheek with her right palm, "I know. I feel the same for you."
