Chapter 48: Give Me Another Chance

Fahami's POV:

"I-i am so sorry for hurting you. I am so sorry." I was sobbing loudly. He just stared at me for a long time.

I wiped my tears, "I should call the doctor." Just when I was about to get up, he didn't let go of my hand. He held on it tightly.

"Taesung, the doctor needs to check on you, you have been unconscious for three days." I said desperately.

He let go of my hand and looked around, then he tried to sit up, and before I could hinder him, he already got hurt and winced in pain.

"Are you a fool or what? You had an accident, and you are trying to get up." I glared at him.

He was taking deep breaths. His Adams apple bobbing up and down, "Why are you here?"

Did I hear it right, or was I deaf? Did he just ask me why I was here? He kissed me that night, then he stormed out of the house, then he went missing for weeks, then he had an accident, and now he was asking me 'why are you here?'."

I felt anguish. I felt extremely rejected. He didn't want me here. Why? Was I too late? I felt so unwanted.

I could feel the storm building up inside me. I cleared my throat, "You don't, y-you don't want me to hear?" I couldn't look into his eyes to see his rejection.

He exhaled a shaky breath and said, "Why would you be here when the person you considered as brother wants to be your lover?"

There was pain, there was hurt, there was complaining in his tone.

Did I hurt him that much? I guess I did.

I looked up and found him looking at the ceiling, trying to not look at me.

"Taesung, look at me. Please." I was pleading.

He looked at me, but the pain was visible in his eyes.

I gulped and said, "Look, there's a lot to talk about. We need to talk and settle down this whole misunderstanding."

His right eye twitched when I mentioned 'misunderstanding'. Then he looked away and said, "There's nothing to talk about, nothing to fix."

No, there was. Lots of things needed fixing. He couldn't give up on us now, when I was trying to work on it.

I sighed and said, "Taesung, I understand you are angry, but I need to explain. Give me a chance."

He looked at me, lips slightly stretched on upward, but it wasn't a true smile. "You don't need to explain anything, Noona. It's not your fault that I fell in love with you and started expecting lots of things from you." He laughed slightly as if he was mocking himself, "In fact, I should have understood, I should have expected that kind of reaction from you. It's just," He paused, eyes dilating like he was thinking about something, "I just got carried away when you kissed me back. I was drunk, probably that's why I couldn't take your rejection and left." He exhaled a shaky breath.

"If that's true, then why didn't you come back home? Didn't you know how much worried I was?" Accusations were clear in my voice.

He looked at me so vulnerably that I felt, I should throw myself on him and hug him tightly.

His tears rolled down his temple, "Because I was ashamed of myself. You gave me shelter, love and took me under your wings when I became a selfish and started wanting more from you. After that night, that kiss, I wouldn't be able to think of you differently, no matter how many times you would have rejected me. And knowing that you don't feel the same for me, I wouldn't be able to live in that same house with you. That's why I never returned."

I wanted to shake him, punch him, scold him, hug him and adore him. That stupid, stupid, stupid boy! How could he think I would be able to live without him?

I closed my eyes and took a long breath, "Taesung, I want to solve this, not run from this. I want us to be together, to work together on this relationship." I said firmly. "And I..." I bit my lips because of nervousness, my palms were sweating, "I want to try to be in a relationship with you."

When I looked up at Taesung, I found him looking at me bitterly as if I had said something poisonous. "Noona, just to keep me with you, you don't need to play along with me. You don't need pretending to love me. I don't want to be in a false relationship with you where you wouldn't feel comfortable."

Did he really think that? Did he think I was willing to be in a relationship with him just to keep him with me?

I looked at him with equal force, "Taesung, if you think that I want to do this just for you, then you are very, very wrong. You have no idea how I have spent the last few weeks without you. You don't know how I felt when I heard about your accident. And you don't have any damn idea about how I felt when I saw you lying down on this bed, fighting for your life and remaining unconscious for three damn days. Do you?"

He didn't say anything.

"Tell me one thing, did you start feeling for me like this from the day one? Did you know you loved me in this way from the beginning? No, right? It took time. Then give me some time to feel the same thing for you."

He looked sad, but there's an underlying emotion in his eyes, it seemed to be 'hope'.

"Look, I know I had a boyfriend, but I told you, he was nothing more than a distraction. I never felt anything romantically for him. I haven't loved any man, and that's why it was hard for me to understand. But if love means having someone as a partner who is supportive, who cares about you, who fights to protect you, who loves you and most importantly, who makes you happy then I was a stupid to not recognize it earlier. I was a stupid who didn't know what actually the true love means. I was a stupid who failed to recognize her true love, who was blinded with her own thoughts. I always thought I found another brother because you reminded me of Nabil, but in reality you never took his place, nor you could stop me from missing him. You just made me happy enough to not feel the pain. You just filled up the hollowness in my heart." I exhaled deeply.

Right that moment, God! I wished so much to capture this moment because the way he was looking at me now, made my heart melt.

"So, I am asking you to give me a chance, I am asking you to work on this relationship, together, with me. Will you?" I was crying.

He licked his lips and gave me a little smile, "Yes."
