I dash across the street full speed ahead. I manoeuver through cars and pedestrians. Parkouring like a seasoned gymnast or parkour artist as if second nature. Normally, I'd have been befuddled by my abilities once more, but right now, I am single-minded. I hope Aunt Kelly is not in any danger. I make a sharp right turn and a large seven-seater vehicle stares at me. I acrobatically execute a front flip over it and land gracefully on my feet and keep running as it honks loudly behind me.
Carol and Max chase after me and almost catch up to me
"Sam! wait!" Max calls out as she reaches out for me. I turn and run sideways by the walls of the nearest building and grab onto a ledge before hoisting myself up and traversing across the rooftops, Carol follows after me but Max takes a detour. I am surprised she can run that fast, what is she?
Carol catches up to me and before I change direction she looks me in the eye. "I am not here to stop you, let me help," she says sternly. We reach the busy business part of Dublin quicker than any vehicle, the diner is close by, right there. I focus my vision and see Kelly serving some customers before heading upstairs into the house, our place is by the side of the building atop the diner. I corkscrew drive through an open window into my room swiftly and crash into my closet, Carol dives through but lands with a rollover and stands on her feet, she's on another level.
We hear a loud thud in kelly's room, I jolt up and burst through my bedroom, my eyes frantically searching for anything alarming.
"Where have you been!" Kelly yells. "You've been gone all night and all morning!" she continues. I look to my right and see her standing in the hallway, her hands on her hips and her eyes sizing me up. She looks like she wants to reach for her shoe or a belt or something to hit with me as she used to do when I was younger. "Aunty?" I murmur. "You didn't call, you didn't pick up any of mine and you sure as hell did not answer any of my messages. You know, I try not to be an overbearing Aunt, I try to give you some freedom and this is the thanks I get? Angelo Sam Santiago! you little insolent bastard, your father was just as irresponsible!" she erupts at me and I realise that all the women in my life use my full name when they are mad, good lord.
"I am sorry, I just-"
"You disrespected me and disobeyed my rules is all," she cuts me off.
"I didn't think-"
"Yes, you didn't," she cuts me off again, "Don't interrupt me! You snuck out, stayed overnight, came back around noon, I know you're young and in love but seeing Carol is not an excuse, you're both children, older and more autonomous but children nonetheless until you move out of this house," she lectures and I listen to every word.
"Now come here," she holds her arms out and takes me into a deep hug. "I was so worried, please tell me before you pull a stunt like that. I know you are your parent's child and you remind me of them so much, every day, but please, be more responsible, my little Sammy." Carol fails to hold in her laughter at that last remark and lets out a small one. "You too, Carol."
Carol and I sit in my room while Kelly works downstairs and Max finally arrives after a few minutes. She walks in and sees us giving her a disapproving glare and she grins unrighteously. "Well, you didn't think I'd just walk in with you after she called me in the middle of the night with a death sentence for you right? Baka," she mocks.
"How did you know Unknown would not be here?" Carol asks her as she takes a sit.
"If he had figured out, he would have immediately gone to fetch kelly especially since he knew you are weaker and at the time, alone. He would not wait for you to get back up."
"She's a sharp one," Abhartach points out.
"I need to learn how to use more of Abhartach's power and also how to use that Excalibur."
"I could give you some tips," Carol smiles.
"There's something I need to tell you, when I was passed out, Abhartach showed me the last great battle, why this all is happening and why we are linked," I say. "Really?! My Danann didn't participate in all that so she practically isn't of much help unless it involves magic or runes or something of the sort," Carol responded.
"What did you see?" Max asked.
"The Danann arrived in Ireland centuries ago but the Fomorians were here before anyone else even set foot here. They won the battle of tuired but some of them left their souls in attachment spells sort of like how Abhartach and Cernunnos are attached to us but instead of sharing a host, their version overwrites the being of the host and the Fomorian is reborn. The Danann were originally Nemedians who migrated through to another dimension or realm where they met the goddess Danu.
"Danu shared her energy with them for generations and by the time they returned to Ireland, they were something more than human. Bres is half Danann and he knows all this, he found a way to their dimension last time, maybe temporarily or once-off somehow, all I know is, he cannot return, he wants to go back and bring back all The Fomorians, there should be enough magic to do that there, at least I think."
"Interesting," Max says attentively.
"If Bres comes back in full power and brings back Balor and Elatha, I do not think we could take them as we are now, we need to find him and kill him."
