Chapter 3

When she finally entered her classroom she could hear her classmates gossiping about her. She didn’t mind it at first but when she saw what was written in the board her face fell.

The word SLUT, AMBITIOUS and her full name were all written in capital letters. They wrote it so everyone could clearly see it! Whoever did this must have wanted to embarrass Melissa so much to put up this show. What else is the reason?

She couldn’t utter a single word when everyone was mockingly staring at her. She felt embarrassed and speechless. Even though she was stunned, she gathered all her strength to erase those filthy words on the board. They just laughed at her. They really wanted to do this from the very beginning but the school forbid them. They already miss such shows. It has also been a long time since there has been such a show in this school thanks to Eric!

She’s sure that one of her classmates did it but she has no evidence to prove who’s the author of this game?

Melissa didn’t react she forced herself of thinking of any happy thoughts she could get. When she’s stress, she used mediation to ease her agony trying to calm herself as possible.

She sighs and went straight to her seat then she decided to write something while waiting for her teacher. She just needs to wait more than twenty minutes in order for the class to start she thought she can still withstand the pressure.

Melissa has not even started writing when someone took her notebook. She blinks her eyes few times to make sure that she’s not mistaken of the person who’s standing beside her. She even rolled her eyes to see who had taken her notebook. And it’s no other than Matthew and his friends grinning ear to ear looking at her helplessly! What else does Matthew need why he’s doing this thing again?! Not just once but twice already!

First, when Matthew and his friends scare the hell out of her when they blocked her in front of the school gate as if she had done something gravely. Secondly, now that she’s just quiet in the corner Matthew and his friends interrupts her all of a sudden? She didn’t do anything to him why all of a sudden Matthew treated her this way? What it will be to him why he interrupted her like this? She didn’t cross her limits didn’t she?

Melissa remains silent. She knows that the rules here are meaningless when it comes to Matthew Valmonte and she knows that it’s impossible to fight them. She will only waste her energy but in the end it would be their advantage!

Not everyone was bullied in this school; only the person Matthew hates! Unfortunately, she’s the new target!

Melissa couldn’t understand why the sudden changes of his treatment towards her. Before, he’s just quiet in the corner. He usually sleeps if he didn’t want to hear the lesson from the teacher and most of the time leaves the classes if he finds the lessons boring. The teacher couldn’t scold nor fail him because of his family influence. They just let him do what he wants to do and manage his grades effortlessly.

She forgot that Matthew and his friends were her classmates in some of her subjects! Just great, so great!

"My…my… You’re writing again?" Matthew said maliciously while his friends laughed crazily.

She’s quite and waited her teacher patiently. She only needs 15 minutes to wait and the class will start in no time. She thought that maybe he won't hurt her in front of others if she’ll ignore him right? Because right now that is the best solution she could ever think of to save herself from trouble.

Truth is; she’s afraid, but she’ll never give them the pleasure to laugh at her and shamed her in front of everyone. Fortunately, she knows how to hide her true emotions and pretended that she didn’t see them.

“She just ignores you Matthew, maybe because you are not as handsome as your older brother?” One of Matthew's friends said sarcastically.

She was nervous about Matthew’s friend implications especially when she saw the anger written visibly on his face.

He was disgusted by the thought of comparing him to his elder brother. Because of that, he instantly dropped her notebook and said that he wouldn’t stop making trouble for Melissa not unless she leaves in this school.

She forced herself to resist her fear and looked at him in disbelief. She couldn’t possibly do that because It's only been a year and she is about to graduate. She didn’t want to waste all her hard work just because she’s afraid of Matthew. God knows how much she sacrificed just for her to graduate yet here comes Matthew trying to destroy her dream just because of his childish reasons.

Matthew stomps his feet and forcedly drag the chairs beside her. They did not sit side by side but at this moment Matthew sat next to her.

Fortunately their subject teacher arrive and finally she was able to breathe easily. She lost even a little bit of tension she was feeling and forced to concentrate in class discussions. She thought she could concentrate but Matthew was observing every move she makes. He just looked at her earnestly as if disrupting her every move. She could feel his cold stare. Melissa pretended not to notice but she’s more than aware of what was happening behind her back. His intense gazes are melting her inside. She couldn’t concentrate in her lesson because she’s conscious of his gaze.

When the class was over she quickly picked up all her belongings and went straight to the next class which was a good thing because they are not classmates in that subject. She breathed a sigh of relief because of that.

"Aren't you going to chase him Matthew?" His friend teases him. The woman almost tumbles as she hurriedly came out the classroom and goes straight without looking back. Melissa was afraid that they might follow her so she walks fast as possible. It’s better to avoid Matthew now before she loses her temper later.

"For what? I hate people like her. I thought she was modest but I was wrong she was hiding her itch inside and waiting to devour someone using her innocent face. ” Matthew said in dismay.

He’s irritated to think that there is really a woman who would do everything just to get what she wants even to the point pretending someone she is not and Melissa is no exemptions of that.

When he found out what had happened yesterday he tried to find out who was involved in that commotion. He was very disappointed with what he found out. He admired Melissa so much because he thinks she’s different from everyone else. He watches her from a far when she is not looking, especially when Melissa writes her diary. Hmmp! The diary that almost Eric was the subject of her imagination!

He even bribed Betty to get that diary. He’s curious too as to why this diary led to the revelation that she had a great admiration for his shameless brother!

He gritted his teeth when he repeatedly read the contents of her diary.

Dear diary I saw my prince charming again, Eric. He’s really handsome. (Sigh) If only he knew how I feel about him it would be awesome but that is impossible to happen…

Dear diary, do you know that most of my characters I wrote are all about him? I take all the characteristics of the male protagonist because he’s perfect in my eyes.

The more Matthew thinks about it, the more dismayed he was. He was even more irritated because he was watching the woman from a distance every time she writes in her diary and takes note with a day dreaming face. He hates the fact that Eric was the reason for her sweet smile! Tsk! He raised his eyebrow and continues reading Melissa’s diary.

Dear diary, I saw Eric with another woman, they look in love. My heart hurts a lot. Even if I want to confess my feelings, I can’t…

Matthew was fuming; for Melissa eye’s, Eric was the only perfect for her…

He can no longer continue reading this shit! He threw the diary somewhere but later took it anyway.

The woman can't stay here long. He was very sensitive about the thought that there is no truly sensible women today even a modest person like Melissa should not be trusted. He thought that Melissa wasn’t that kind of person who was dazzled by wealth and power but he’s wrong.

He was traumatized by such people…

It started by his own mother; Matthew’s mother was a social climber and did everything she could just to elevate her life. She knows at the very beginning that his father was a womanizer but she still goes with him because she’s madly in love with his status and that ruined her life so much. She gave everything but his shameless father just trampled her mother just like a trash! Matthew watched his mother destroy her own life and he couldn’t do anything about it…

Meanwhile, Matthew’s phone is ringing big time and he knows especially who's calling. It was his big brother Eric! How he hates him! Eric was his half-brother in father's side. Matthew was just a bastard child who happened to be born out of just a one night stand.

Matthew’s mother had a weak heart for illness, she developed it because she couldn't move on about what happened to her. She couldn't believe that in his father's eye she was just a toy and that ends her life. From that day, his life changed.

He was abandoned, later adopted by the house of Valmonte and inherited their family surname. He hates it very much! But what can he do? He needs to seize the opportunity while it last…!

"Where are you?!" Matthew’s brother screamed in the phone. He didn't want to listen to whatever he would say so he turned off his phone without hearing Eric’s sermon. He’s tired of listening his sermon in almost every day of his life. He knows already what he would say, just another normal day to him and his brother , nothings new...

Eric and Matthew have one year in gap. He’s 19, while Eric just turned 20 last month. Eric was matured enough to handle families’ wealth and him he’s just his shadow not to mention his trash! To hell with him!

Every time, they had family get together Eric stands to be the best. He’s intelligent, kind and etc. That's their descriptions about him. While Matthew is far too opposite from Eric, he’s just a trash like his useless mother. He hated that fact but he couldn't get away with it. Every time he remembers it, he became furious wanting to destroy them.

And for him to take his revenge, he always does crazy actions that bring shame to their family!

My, my, he hates to be part of their family. Such luxurious life, yet his mother suffered a lot by bringing him into this world! And all she did was blindly in love to his father so much that she would do everything for him!
