Chapter 31 a Emi's Investigation

Their walk upstairs was quiet and awkward. The entire time, Iggy didn’t even notice Derson by his side at all. He was lost in his memories. Shaken. Afraid. Especially alone. So much so, that Derson was worried, too. Yet, within the confines of the empty elevator, he dared to ask, “who is Aster and Lot?”

Iggy’s reaction: silence.

They came to the bedroom and Iggy went straight to the bed where Emi lied asleep. In any normal evening, Iggy and Derson would’ve retired before Emi would return, and she noticed the difference this time when she found herself lying in bed alone. When he crawled in beside her, she awoke just a moment before he embraced her. Her black eyes gazed upon him easily. She laid her hand onto his cheek and he pulled her closer, hiding his face against her soft chest. “You’ve missed me,” she stroked his head. She naturally gravitated toward his affection whenever he thought to give it. “I can feel you shaking. What happened?”
