Chapter 8

December 23rd‚ 1995

Anna’s Apartment

7:00pm

*Doorbell sound*

“Come in‚ the door is open” a female voice yelled from inside. “Have a seat and feel at home. I’m in the shower. I’ll be with you in a minute” the voice added.

The young man let himself in and settled on the couch. Few minutes later‚ Anna walked into the living room. She was putting on a pair of black jeans‚ a dark green turtle neck and a pair of brown boots‚ and had her hair held up like a ponytail.

The young man quickly stood up from his seat as soon as she walked in.

“Anna…” he called which sounded like a whisper.

Anna didn’t understand why her heart skipped a beat as soon as she sighted James.

“J…James?”

She was surprised and excited to see him again.

“I hope you aren’t offended by visit? I honestly would have called‚ but I forgot to ask for your number the last time met”. “Are you going somewhere? I can drop you off if you don’t mind”

He’s so considerate‚ charming and sweet… Just like a gentleman.

Collecting herself quickly‚ “I just wanted to go for a stroll” she replied

“So you’re free then?” he asked and Anna nodded

“Would you like to have dinner with me?” He asked smiling

And yes was her answer.

At first‚ he thought she was going to refuse. I mean who invites one out for dinner at the last minute. What if she had somewhere to be at that moment? His coming to her place would just be a waste of time.

He took her to a restaurant inside of town‚ where most rich people dinned or anyone who could afford the food there dinned as well.

Dinner was later served.

It looked and smelt great. There were several dishes and their food was exquisite.

Anna felt a bit embarrassed because of what she wore. Who goes to a classy restaurant dressed in a pair of jeans and boots?

Anna didn’t eat much because she was not comfortable with the tons of eyes fixed on her.

Suddenly‚ James stood up from his seat and walked over to Anna. He held his hand out for her to grasp.

“Anna please Walk with me” he said

They both left the restaurant and strolled down to the town’s most beautiful floral garden‚ which wasn’t so far from the restaurant. Most photo shots‚ where taken in this garden. It was big and beautiful. It had all sorts of flowers; Roses‚ Irises‚ Foxgloves‚ daises and Sun flowers. All curved and portrayed beautiful shapes all around the place. What made the whole sight more beautiful‚ were the beautiful twinkling Christmas lights‚ which helped in lifting the Christmas spirit.

They strode round the garden for about 30minutes before heading back to the restaurant’s parking lot‚ where his car was parked‚ and returned home after a long night.

“What about the man you told me about over the phone earlier. You said he was a friend right?”

“Yes he is. And he would be coming to our place by 4pm today.” Josh replied

“I think it was a great idea contacting him first” Angelina’s mother said.

“I agree” Josh said.
