Chapter 10

"Abi. . ." Asmodeus called out quietly, trying to keep up with her powerful and determined strides. Abi ignored him.

"Abi! Listen to me." Asmodeus called out once more and this time took a hold of her arm, stopping her powerful walk.

Abi gave him an annoyed frown, "What?" she spit out.

"You can't do this. Angels won't even spend five seconds with us. This is suicide!" Asmodeus said, desperately trying to convince Abi how dangerous it would be for her to even get close to something as powerful as Uriel. Asmodeus witnessed first-hand just how mighty Uriel was. Heck, he almost paralyzed Asmodeus with just one kick!

Abi snatched her arm away and gave Asmodeus a determined glare, "No, 'suicide' would be me disobeying His Majesty's order." She pointed out.

"The King is your father, Abi. He won't kill you, you're his daughter." Asmodeus groaned and rolled his bloody eyes.

Abi scoffed, "That's what you think." She hovered above the floor and spun around, gliding down the long hallway towards her bedroom. Asmodeus followed closely behind her, raking a hand through the mop of blonde hair to display his frustration. Abi was so stubborn.

"Abi, please. Don't do this, you're going to get killed." He begged desperately. He went and stood in front of Abi, blocking her from entering her bedroom. Abi stared into the intensity of his eyes. Worry and desperation swam in them as he stared back at her. Asmodeus had a deep care for her. They'de been close friends since childhood.

Abi couldn't deny that this mission was dangerous. It was fatal. Uriel could take her life and erase her existence from the universe. But her longing to please her father was more powerful than the fear of death. She was ready to die for her people.

She was ready to die for her father.

"Look, Deus. . ." She came closer to him and put her palms on his cheeks, "I know you worry for me but, I need to do this. My father's admiration for me, his pride for me matters more than anything in the world-"

"But what will it matter when you're dead." Asmodeus cut her off, his patience wearing thin and his desperation increasing by the second. Abi clenched her jaw, her patience beginning to deteriorate as well.

"Look, Deus! I'm doing this whether you like it or not. You're not going to change my mind so stop pestering me!" Abi raised her voice and frowned angrily. She hovered past Asmodeus and opened the doors to her room, about to slam the door in his face.

"How could an angel ever trust you of all people!?" Asmodeus yelled. The words poured out before he could stop them, and he felt immediate regret befall on him as he watched the sadness creep into her rosy eyes. The atmosphere tensed.

"T-That's not what I mean-" he began to explain but Abi cut him off.

"I don't care. Just get out of here. Stay away from me." She grit out furiously, her words like venom.

Asmodeus tried once more, "Abi, I'm-"

"No! As your princess, I order you to leave the castle right now!" And on that last high and furious note, she slammed the door on him. Asmodeus stood there for a few seconds, cursing himself internally. He felt like such a moron.

Abi's heart raced at the speed of a hummingbird's wings, it reverberated her entire body and made her palms sweaty. She was high up in the night sky, her enormous ragged wings were illuminated by the moonlight and stars as the flapped gently to keep her in position.

Her eyes looked down at the large white mansion where the boy lived. The boy in which she cursed. She hadn't thought through her actions quite well. First off, she wasn't sure of where she would find him. She figured he would be in the angelic realm but she'd be shot down before she even entered their planet's atmosphere. Then she figured he'd be with his human. So there she was, watching the mansion nervously.

Her second and most worrying problem was trying to get close to him without him jumping her ass like a spider. Demons and Angels were complete opposites, they despised each other more than any creature alive. And although Asmodeus's words hurt her a little, they were in no way lies.

Abi took a long, unsatisfactory breath and the determination entered her once again. She had to do this. For her father and for herself. She descended silently towards the front of the mansion. It was past midnight, around one in the morning so the interior lights were out, excluding the lights of the father's study. Abi flew to the back of the mansion, towards the room that faced the forest behind.

Then she felt it. She gasped at the powerful presence. She snapped her eyes all around her, but no creature was near her. The presence was most powerful in the room. The room of the boy. Abi's heart exhilarated even more.

He was there. Uriel was in the room.

Abi's breathing became shallow. All she could hear was the beating of her black heart as she neared the windows. She became permeable and penetrated through the closed window glass, her heart racing, her breath quickening, and her palms sweaty.

She was ready to defend herself but to her disbelief, there was no one there. The boy was sleeping, his cheeks still stained with tears from the nightmares he was experiencing. The room was silent, only filled with small wines coming from the boy.

But no Uriel. . . where was he? Abi thought nervously as she silently hovered over the floors and entered the room even more. He had to be here somewhere. She felt a strong presence across the room. Something had to be there. But where-

Suddenly, something charged towards her at the speed of light. It was so fast that she couldn't even react to it. A large hand placed itself firmly around her neck and gripped tight, so tight she could no longer breathe. She was shoved towards the nearest wall and slammed her against it.

Abi panicked as she tried getting the stranger's hand off her neck, tears crept at the corners of her eyes. No air entered her and her heart quickened intensely.

But nothing was more frightening than the intensity of the aquamarine eyes that bore into hers. Angry and raging as the angel's fist closed tighter around her neck.

If he doesn't let go soon, she was going to die.
