Chapter 12

Abi

Angels have always been a thorn on the demon realm's side since the beginning of time; with their patronizing attitudes and pretentious lifestyles of good and purity. They think of themselves highly because of the position they were placed in. Demons have a scorching hatred for those creatures, they had slaughtered thousands of our kind knowing that we were weaker than them; all in the name of good. I can't help but snort. And now I have to win the trust of one. An angel of royal blood. A creature I despise most and one that could obliterate me in a second if he wanted to. I, a demon of darkness and sin, have to win over a creature of light and "purity". What was Father thinking? My heart throbs painfully at the thought as I stare at the angel in front of me. Does he long for my death so? Does his hatred of my existence run so deep that he would give me such an impossible task? No...he does care. This must be just another test. A test to improve my abilities. It is a chance to make him proud, I choose to believe. I must earn the title of The demon King's daughter. Yes. I will do it. I will complete this task, win over this angel's trust and take the information I gather...No. I will not just do that. I will bring him this angel and he will be even more pleased. He will welcome me with a warm embrace and acknowledge me as his daughter. Yes...The angel not reporting this incident only makes things easier; no other angel will ruin my plans. I stare at the expanse of his broad, strong back as he stomps away. Can I do it? An angel of royal blood who has sworn to protect his kingdom and human. An angel so uptight and clearly hates my guts? I stare on; his outfit is so bland and boring, predictably in all white. For a human-obsessed creature, he has absolutely no knowledge of human-clothing trends, what human still wears a cloak? He sticks out like a sore thumb; looking like some catholic priest. However, he is quite handsome, he'll draw attention from many shallow humans. Bile rises in my throat at the thought of those measly things. I have an unspoken disgust for those measly things with their annoying weaknesses. How can Father compare me to them I do not know? The thought rouses rage within me.

Shaking off the enraged thoughts of ways to hurt humans I pull on my casual smile and saunter towards the angel. I noticed the strong reaction he had to my provocative transformation; his had reddened to a point I thought his head might explode. I giggle at the image and he snaps his fierce eyes to me, so fierce I nearly stumble. I keep my casual smirk, "Do not be so angry, you'll scare the humans away." I tease, "And that's my job." I chuckle. His eye twitches and scowl deepens. Shit.

"I do not jest with demons." He snarls,

"Not even for a moment's pleasure?" I tease.

"You disgust me."

I giggle at the insult, "Yes, yes dear friend—"

"I am not your friend."Take me to the witch."" He cuts curtly. I roll my eyes and sigh. He obviously dreads my company. Satan, save me.

If this male angel is like males then all my seductive tricks should still have some kind of effect on him. Having had many lovers myself I could say I am skilled in the arts of seduction...well not lovers, more like toys for my pleasure. I've used all kinds of creatures; from centaurs to nagas to goblins—the most gifted males, in my opinion, my mouth waters at the thought of those big, large—

"Where must we go demon?" The angel commands impatiently, interrupting my thoughts.

"Just follow me." I shrug as we approach the festivity, walking past a few drunkards. I can sense his discomfort, this must be his first time being around so many humans. I wonder if their guardians can sense their awkward prince prancing around drunk humans. They cannot sense me however, I've removed all my demonic fog; I'm basically invisible to them. Angels have much stricter restrictions when it comes to being around humans, so the sight of their prince here will most definitely cause an uproar. My curiosity peaks.

"Can the other angels see you?"

"No." He answers

"How?"

"It is an ability royals possess."

"What is the abilit—"

"Focus on the task, demon." He glares at me, my heart constricts at the fierceness of his eyes. Soon the emotion is devoured by irritation.

"I am Abilanus. Refer to me like that." I raise my chin to him. He smirks then chuckles, I clench my jaw.

"Do not forget who I am...I can kill you in an instant."

"If you wanted me dead you would have killed me that other day, yet you showed mercy," I smirk, confident with my statement. I had thought about that, it both irked and delighted me that he had not killed me. It was a bittersweet feeling, bringing forth sour memories of the duels I would have with my half-sister; how she would bring me to the brink of death just to walk away. My chest tightens at the memory, I shrug it off.

"Do not think I am weak for showing you the mercy you do not deserve. My human is first priority and—" There is a sudden loud chanting off in the distance. I clap my hands dismissively.

"All, right! Let us go find our witch." I saunter towards the crowd. Some provocative dancing should be a good way to tempt him. I glance behind me, expecting to find a scowling male instead I am met with an interesting expression. His face has gone a ghastly pale, his fierce eyes widened with horror as he stared at the shore. My heart jumps, what could he be so afraid of. I track his gaze only to clutch my stomach and lean back, roaring with laughter. In the distance are a bunch of nude humans frolicking in the ocean. That was what shocked him? How can someone be so adorably hilarious!

"Are they insane..." He mumbles, blinking as if trying to get the scene to disappear. I chuckle, patting his shoulder.

"Have you never seen this? Humans do it all the time!" I cannot believe I was so scared of this angel. The fearful Prince of angels is scared of nude humans. It is so silly.

"Stop laughing." He growls, a furious blush staining his features. As hilarious as it is I obey, my lips forming a tight line.

"A guardian angel who has never seen the nudity of humans? How ironic. I thought you creatures would be the most knowledgable when it came to strange human customs." I tease, caressing his jaw slightly. He tenses and snaps away from my touch as if it burned him.

"Do not act so casual with me, disgusting fiend." He spits, clenching his jaw. Dear satan, all these names. I roll my eyes, gesture a seductive finger for him to follow me.

"Come, innocent one."

"Do not insult me." He scowls.

"Insult? Is that not what you angels represent? Purity? Or are you just as sinful as me?" I murmur, leaning towards him enticingly, throwing on an inviting smirk. He recoils, blushing and placing his hands in front of him as if shielding himself.

"Dammit Demon! Take me to the witch." He snarls.

"Say my name first." I taunt. I can feel the rapid rising of his chest, the heat emitting from him, the tremoring of his hands as he lightly pushes me away. He gulps, hesitant. He is so easy to read, this will be so easy.

His voice was masculine yet soft, breathy as he whispered, "Abilanus..." Never had I ever heard my name called so softly. My heart sang and my throat constricted. I clench my jaw, turn and walk towards the dance floor. This will not be easy.
