Chapter 8

Prince Conrad's POV

Twenty-four hours had passed, but Princess Liviana is still unconscious. She was breathing heavily yesterday. But when I hold her hands, her breathing became normal. Does this mean I affect her? I did not let go even for one second. My wolf inside me feels happy and contented. Her hands are soft and warm; I like how her hands fit on mine.

"Brother, get some sleep." I looked at Connor who just woke up. He slept on the couch though I wished he did not use the couch since it's Princess Liviana's. Her scent will linger on him. I sighed.

"I'm alright." I focused my attention again on her. "I should make it up to her." I said.

"You look like a corpse." I heard Colten said as he entered my room.

"There's no corpse as handsome as me." I joked, but Colten just shook his head in disappointment, and Connor just chuckled. How rude can they be?

I was about to yell at them when I was interrupted by a knock. One of our servers entered the room. "Crown Prince, your highness, someone is looking for the Crown Princess." He stated.

"Who?" I asked.

"He's Crown Prince Elias of their kingdom, your highness." He answered. I nodded and told him to let Prince Elias entered the room.

"Greetings to Crown Prince Conrad, to Prince Connor, and you Prince Colten." He said. Connor and Colten greeted him as well. "I'm Princess Liviana's older brother." He told us. It is the first time I heard that my wife has an older brother. Well, I never asked anyway. I don't know so much about her. I just know her name, and that's all. I did not even know how old she is or when her birthday is. I'm such a useless jerk.

Connor and Colten explained what happened to the Princess as I stayed quiet. I have this feeling that I don't want him around my wife. "I understand. I'm sure she will be fine. She will wake up soon." Prince Elias said as he looks at her sister. "Can I go near her?" He asked, looking at me.

"No." I firmly said.

"Brother!" Connor yelled. "What's wrong with you? He's Lili's brother."

"He's just kidding, your highness." Colten said. "He's just exhausted." Connor grabbed my arm, and he forced me to leave the room.

He released my arm once we're out of my room. I growl at him for what he did, and he snarls back. "Stop it!" Colten yelled.

"What were you thinking?! He's your wife's brother!" Connor yelled.

"I know!" I yelled back. "I just don't like him being with her, alright!?"

"What?! Are you jealous? They're related, they're family, for Pete's sake!" Connor explained the transparent things. I know all those things, but I still don't like him near her.

"My wolf…" I decided to tell them what I've been through the whole time. They stepped closer to me. "My wolf is claiming her as my mate." I told them as I brushed my fingers on my hair, feeling frustrated. "Although my mind is telling me otherwise, I know it's Thalia. I don't know what to believe anymore."

"Is that the reason why you're avoiding her?" Connor asked confusion and disbelief are visible on his face. I nodded as a response. "You're torturing yourself, brother."

"I know. The pull was magnetic and stronger than anything I could have felt. Every time I see her, I cannot do anything but restrain my wolf. I wanted to hug, kiss her, and do so many things with her. But all I did was run away from her." I dropped to the ground as I reminisce how hard it is to stop myself from doing those things.

"Aren't we supposed to trust our wolf inside us?" Colten spoke. "Is this what Lili's talking about back then?" He asked Connor.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Lili asked us what if our soul mate doesn't want us." Connor said. "What will happen if our mate rejected us?"

"Are you rejecting her, Conrad?" Colten asked innocently.

"No, I cannot do that!" I answered him. I know now that I cannot leave her. Seeing her sick made my heart ache, what more if she leaves me?

"You have to choose, brother. Is it your mate or your fling?" Connor asked with a weight on his tone. "Moon Goddess never told us that we cannot have humans as our mate." He added.

"It's amazing how Moon Goddess lead Lili to us. She became your wife and our Crown Princess!" Colten yelled as he realized those things.

Connor chuckled. "Isn't it wonderful?" He patted Colten on his head.

"Lili's awake!" Prince Elias announced as he appeared before us. We hurriedly returned to my room and saw Lili smiling. She still looks pale and weak, but at least now she's awake. I stopped because of my sudden realization. I don't know what to say, we don't talk with each other for a month. I'm so foolish.

"Lili!" Connor and Colten yelled in unison, and they hugged her. My wolf told me to go and hug her as well, but I cannot move. He was happy that his mate is alright. "We're so worried!" Colten expressed his feelings.

"We thought you'll sleep forever!" Connor joked, and she laughed weakly.

"I apologize. I didn't know what happened to me." She answered. "I'm glad Prince Elias is here too." I felt a pang in my chest. She did not even look for me, and she did not even bother to look at me. I decided to leave my room and walked away. I didn't know that she can hurt us hard by just avoiding our existence.

Princess Liviana's POV

The whole room quiets down when 'your highness' leaves his room without saying a word. When I woke up, I was so happy to see my brother beside me. He told me everything that Connor told him. He also notified me that 'your highness' stayed with me the whole time I was unconscious. I instantly smiled at that thought. He still cares for me even a little.

"Are you staying for the night?" I asked my brother. I have many things to tell him since we just reunited after a month and a week.

"He will." Connor interrupted my brother. "I will ask to prepare a room for him." He said, smiling. He and Colten leave us afterward.

"Thank you for visiting me, brother." I told him.

"I apologize for not attending your wedding, my Lili." He held my hand and squeezed it. Prince Elias accepted me as his sister, he taught me how to read and write. He taught me about archery, and swordsmanship. He knew everything about me. He's my brother and my best friend.

"Seeing you healthy is all that I want. Attending my wedding is not important." I said.

"I apologize for what they did to you. I think they planned to dispatch me that time, so I cannot oppose them." He explained.

"It's alright. I think this marriage was meant to happen." I told him.

"Are you doing fine here? Are they treating you well? How's your husband?" He questioned me worriedly.

I chuckled. He's always worried about me. He did not change a bit. "I'm doing fine. The King and the Queen are kind to me. Connor and Colten treated me like their real sister. However, my relationship with my husband is what I expected so far."

"What are you expecting?" He asked.

"Nothing." I laughed.

"What?" He asked, confused.

"I am not expecting anything from this marriage, brother. I am just here to be the Crown Princess and nothing more." I explained with laughter.

"Seriously, are you nuts?" He said furiously.

I shook my head while smiling. "After the wedding, I realized that this kind of setup is what I want. I'm alright with it."

He sighed as he shook his head. "I don't get you. Whenever you want to go home, don't hesitate. You're still our Princess." He smiled afterward.

"Thank you, brother." I said, smiling.
