The Hermes boots (II)

---Chapter 52: The Hermes boots (II)---

...

The moment I heard the screams of rage from the guards of the museum, I knew I had to hurry up if I didn't want to become a prisoner or worse...

"Damn, let's hope this works properly...!"

I placed my left hand right above the boots, and soon they started being moved directly into my inventory, leaving nothing but an empty cage at the end of the process.

"There he is, shoot him!"

Crap!

*Ftch!*

Before I could even react properly an arrow pierced through my shoulder, making me flinch in pain, and deactivating my invisibility effect.

[You have received 46 damage]

Soon, another arrow flew directly to my head, however, this time I managed to dodge it properly just before it could pierce through it.

I'm pretty sure that arrow was aimed to kill me...

"Hand over those boots, filthy thief"

...

This fucker tried to kill me first and now he is trying to negotiate...?

"Why don't you go fuck yourself first...?" I lifted my middle finger and then blocked their path by placing many stone blocks in front of me.

This would give me a few minutes to prepare my escape properly, after all now they had to go around the museum once again just to reach this room after having their paths into it blocked.

"Sigh... alright, let's hope reality isn't too bad..."

I looked for the Hermes boots on my inventory and rapidly pressed the button that said [Equip].

As the boots started materializing on my feet, an unexpected sense of heaviness struck my body... no, it struck my soul. However, although It could be said to bother me a little, the weight I was feeling wasn't that much, and it didn't really affect my body at all.

It was more of an ethereal type of weight...

*Tzzzzzz!*

The boots soon appeared and adjusted perfectly into my feet, before letting out a strange yellowish electricity cross through my body, reinvigorating and giving me an unexpected feeling of energetics.

If I needed to describe it, then it could surely be...

"I need to run"

The boots, soon stopped releasing that electricity through my body and started letting out steam from the wings on each of their sides, although very faintly.

"There he is!"

The guards, that finally managed to reach this room, saw me standing there mesmerized by the feeling these boots were giving me.

"Look at that, He is wearing the boots of Hermes?!"

"What?!"

"N-no, that can't be possible! How is he not getting destroyed by their power?!"

"No way, is he the chosen one?!"

"Hey fuckers!" I yelled out loud before drinking a Swiftness potion and an Ironskin potion right in front of them.

"Be sure to remember these words..." I concentrated deeply in my mind and soon the whole world around me started slowing down, after that I took a pre-running stance.

"Gotta go fast"

*Boom!!*

As I kicked the ground, my body was launched at a high speed in their direction, however, I still seemed to be in control of my own speed.

The leader of the guards, that seemed to be lost on his thoughts until now, snapped back to reality and soon started yelling orders to his men.

"Don't let him go!! If he escapes then the elf kingdom will never see those boots again!!"

""Yes sir!"" The guards shouted after being awakened by their leader, and soon they started shooting arrows directly at my legs.

However, the arrows were now too slow for me, as I could dodge them with ease thanks to my new speed.

*Ftch!*

*Fiuuuu!*

*Ftch*

After dodging them, the arrows pierced the walls behind me like it was made of butter. Showing once more the incredible ability that Elves had when using bows.

Unfortunately for them, I was too fast, even for their improved senses. And before they could even notice, I was already in front of the one that pierced my shoulder with one of his arrows.

*Bam!!*

Tightening the strength of my punch, I landed a heavy hit right into his head, knocking him out momentarily and leaving me an open path for me to escape.

"Eleon! You filthy thief, how dare you hit him?!" One of the elves next to me got angry after seeing his partner fall to the ground unconscious, and tried to take out his sword to stab me while I was unprepared.

*Bam!!*

However, before he could move any further, he ended up receiving a kick right into his chin from me. Which sent him flying against the wall, and made him dizzy enough so that he couldn't move for a few seconds.

After that, I started sprinting at full speed and left behind the group of elves while doing some Zigzag movement to avoid any possible arrow from hitting me.

Now, all I need to do is to drink an invisibility potion while no one sees me, and then go back to my room while storing the Hermes boots in my inventory so that no one finds them while checking my pertinence.

It took a while, but after some seconds of sprinting later I finally managed to see the exit of the museum.

However, like every time in this life, nothing goes perfect for me as there's always a catch.

A man wearing a long coat made of black leather, stood there alone in the middle of the exit while watching me approach with a serious face.

His eyes, unlike the average elf, had a more yellowish tone to their color, and his blond hair was tied into a very long ponytail.

"I came here to see what was happening, however, I didn't thought I could see the chosen one being only a petty thief... Very well, I, the great mage of Frost, Colyem Airen, shall capture you and bring you to the king to be judged"

Meeting the king doesn't sound like a good idea... what could they do when they discover I'm a human...?

I don't really want to risk my own safety just for the sake of discovering it...

°°°

°[Imperial mage: Colyem Airen]°

Title: Great mage of Frost

[HP: 310 / 310]

°°°

So this is one of those strong elves Alyem meant? He has 60 more max HP than the average elf...

Good grief, I guess I'll have to defeat this sub-boss if I want to escape safely...

"Very well, don't come crying later when I beat you up" I muttered while frowning sightly behind my helmet.

This was a good opportunity to use the new spells I learned on combat anyways...
