Chapter 351 - "Kill Bill" Premiere (Part One)

Roy looked at her puzzled expression and sighed softly. He was happy, at least until someone spoke.

He had once said on Oprah's talk show, "When I'm with her, it's like having the whole world." That was true; with her by his side, he was content and didn't care about anything else. It was like holding the entire world in his hands.

He didn't know when she had quietly entered his heart, in a pitiful, slow-burning way. By the time he realized it, there was no escaping it. He had pitied the man who would become her man, but little did he know that man would be him.

It was a maddening irony, but he seemed to find some joy in it.

He had been holding her hand just a moment ago, feeling her cold fingertips warm up in his palm. The sense of accomplishment and contentment made him unable to put it into words.

In his contact with her, he had come to deeply understand what an "electric feeling" was. It was definitely not the damn "static" she mentioned, but a more wonderful sensation. At least for him, he didn't want to let go of her hand unless it was absolutely necessary to drive.

What frustrated him was that this beauty seemed to be something only he could feel. She seemed like an insulator, completely unable to receive the signals he was sending. He thought he had made it clear enough; he kissed the back of her hand and looked at her with love in his eyes. Even the dullest woman should have understood his intentions by now, right?

But Laila shattered his understanding of dullness and made him realize there was a kind of woman who could be as dense as a log. He really wanted to know where that sixth sense women talked about all the time went. What happened to women who were supposed to be more sensitive to emotions? Why did everything change with her?

Maybe he should be more direct.

It was truly unbelievable! He had dated girlfriends before, but he had never been so anxious. What kind of magic had she cast on him?

Suddenly, the car slammed on the brakes and stopped on the side of the road.

Laila instinctively leaned forward before settling back in her seat. "What's wrong? Why did we stop?"

"Laila, I..." Roy looked at her, staring into her clear, pristine ice-blue eyes.

Sometimes, this ice-blue color might seem sharp, cold, and icy to others, but to him, it represented redemption, warmth, and trust.

He would never forget the first time he saw her. Sometimes, he would remember his complaints about her when he was sweating profusely during training, but most of the time, he would remember her kindness. Participating in shoots with other production teams made him realize how important opportunities were in Hollywood. She effortlessly arranged those opportunities for him.

At some point, his gratitude towards her began to change, turning into an unexpected but potentially wonderful feeling.

"Is there something wrong?" Laila tilted her head in confusion, seeing him staring at her.

That "Have you lost your mind again?" expression made Roy forcefully hold back the words that were about to come out of his throat. He had a very depressing premonition that if he spoke the truth, she would probably be shocked and run away.

"Nothing... I just wanted to ask if you're hungry. Do you want something to eat?" He forced a smile, cursing himself in his heart. Roy, you coward!

And so, between their publicized romance and working on the film, the day of May 26 arrived.

It was a day many people were looking forward to because, on this day, Laila's "Kill Bill" and Faiza's "The 13th Warrior"—which she had invested in—were both premiering.

For this premiere and to make a splash for Dragon Soul Entertainment's first production, Laila chose to host the premiere at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. This historic theatre, born half a century ago, had witnessed the entire history of Hollywood, and it was a place one had to see when visiting Hollywood.

For this memorable day, Janet specially brought her team to Hollywood and handed over two sets of dresses she had designed herself to Laila and Roy. She designed their outfits, ensuring that when they appeared in front of the public, their charm would captivate everyone.

"Are you ready?" After the car stopped on the side of the road, Roy smiled and asked Laila.

"Of course." Laila adjusted her dress and nodded at him.

Roy got out of the car first and led Laila out amid the screams and cheers from the crowd.

Every time at a premiere, Laila's loyal fans would come to cheer her on first, and this time was no exception. Looking around, there was a crowd of one or two thousand people. This was a promising number for Laila because it indicated the growth of her fan base.

Directors might be different from actors; they didn't necessarily need their own fan base as long as the actors they selected had one. But if you looked at the world's top directors, those with fan bases were the best, especially the ones who had accompanied her from the beginning.

Laila's eyes started to glisten with tears, and she waved to her fans, receiving deafening screams in return.

"Ah—Laila!"

"You're always the best!"

Of course, there were Roy's fans among them, but now that he was in a "relationship" with Laila, those heartbroken girls could only keep their love for him in their hearts.

"Come on." Roy smiled and raised his arm for her.

Laila smiled and took his arm.

Thanks to Janet, the two of them stole the show as soon as they stepped onto the red carpet. Laila wore a silver-gray fishtail gown that highlighted her slender waist and long legs. The shiny silk threads sparkled under the flashlights, making her look like a mermaid emerging from the water with waves cascading around her.

Roy wore a suit similar to hers, not in the sense that he was wearing a dress, but the collar, cuffs, and bow tie matched the same color as Laila's gown, making them look perfectly coordinated.

Even the most discerning critic couldn't find any flaws in them, at most, they could only mumble a few complaints.

As they walked the red carpet, the atmosphere was electric, with waves of excited screams echoing in the air.

"Let's see who's here!" The host at the event wouldn't let them in easily and stopped them outside the entrance with a smile. "Roy, Laila, you two look perfect together today. How are you feeling right now?"

As he waved to the crowd, Roy smiled and said, "I feel like my heart is about to jump out. You can ask Laila to check if you don't believe me."
