Chapter thirty-nine :)

What?!

Harry got up and left the room without another word after she finished talking. Staring at the ground. All those years she knew? It was like everything around him broke into pieces, the whole past years based on a lie. He had suffered so much just because he thought Anne didn't believe him.

His first instinct was to look for Louis, he wasn't in the waiting room anymore. Also, the halls were empty except for a woman behind a counter. She typed something onto a keyboard focused on the light screen in front of her. "Uhm, excuse me. Did you see a guy about this height," Harry showed her and carried on "brown hair, eyes blue and-"

"Down the hall last door right." She explained pointing to the left with a pencil, not looking away from the screen. "O- okay thank you." He was already halfway through the hall before he ended his sentence. His head was pounding. It felt like a thousand knife stabs, stabbing him over and over again. He tried helping it by massaging his temples, it helped. Just a little but it did.

As Harry reached the door a woman came towards him, holding a tray full of bandages. "He is fine." She assured him smiling slightly. "Thank you." Harry mouthed and stepped in. Thank god, he was sitting on what looked like a bench a white bandage wrapped around his hand and the cuts at his lips were clean as well.

"Haz? What happened?" Louis was worried "You're shaking." Louis' hand surrounded his own, warm and strong. His eyes filled with concern. "We need to go." Was all he could choke out staring into the olders' eyes. "What? Why? Tell me what is going on."

"Please." His voice just a breathe. Louis nodded. Harry will tell him but first, he needed to get out of there. The whole department smelled strongly like fresh paint and coffee. The clock was ticking loudly, the telephone ringing, there were so many details it was too much for Harry's head it was pounding badly again.

Louis insisted on telling the woman behind the counter before they left. He also gave her his number just in case they need them for any further of the case. Then she allowed them to go. The night had already started that's how long they had spent at the department. A million stars shining bright above them. Even though it was summer the nights were still cold sometimes.

Like today the slight wind let Harry's skin shiver. Fresh air streaming through his lungs as he took a deep breath, solving the lump in his throat and relieving the pain in his chest a little. He stayed there a few seconds just trying to sort his thoughts and get himself back together. But they always went back to the question of why the hell Anne said she didn't believe him when she knew exactly what happened and how Harry suffered all this time.

"She knew." The words just slipped out of his mouth, he heard Louis stop abruptly. "Wait, who what?" Harry didn't saw him, eyes closed, but knew the exact impression on Louis' face at the moment. "She accused me of being a liar even though she knew I was telling the truth." The weird thing was he wasn't even mad at her.

He had spent the last two years being mat at her, all he wanted was an answer, why. What made her do that to him? It wasn't fair. This whole thing wasn't fair. Harry deserved better than that. He opened his eyes, Louis standing in front of him shocked. "Why?" Harry asked him quietly as if he would have the perfect answer.

Louis didn't say anything he seemed paralyzed, eyebrows lifted and his mouth slightly open. "I want to go home." All he wanted at the moment was to fall into his warm cosy bed, bury himself underneath the blanket and stay there for the rest of his life. His eyes burning, lids heavy as he watched the glowing traffic lights and cars passing by.

It made him tired, as well did the slow music from the radio. The ride home felt endless even though it were just fifteen minutes. And twenty until he could finally let himself fall into Louis'.....his bed. But he couldn't fall asleep, his headache was bothering him. None of the sleeping positions he tried helped.

Harry let out a sigh, trying to help the pain go away by massaging his temples again, it helped but every time he was about to fall asleep the thoughts came back and it started again. Ugh. Louis noticed. "What are you doin'" He murmured sleepy, voice deep and scratchy.

"Headache." Was all Harry said it was an unbearable pain that didn't let him rest. Louis moved a little laying his arm at Harry's waist, his chest tight against Harry's back. With the other hand, he gently massaged Harry's scalp. His slow breaths against his neck. Harry listened to Louis slow heartbeat until his eyes closed and he finally fell asleep.

****

The police officers hadn't called in days, Harry was dying to know what happened to Charly now. The fear of him being out there grew with every day. Anne had tried to call a few times, Harry didn't pick up. "Was it her again?" Louis was making breakfast. "Yes." On the one hand, he really wanted to know how she was about to explain it all to him but on the other, he didn't want to see her.

He couldn't look her into the eyes. The eyes that had told him he was fantasising or just trying to hurt somebody else by accusing Charly that he had abused him. What bullshit why should someone do that. They had been friends a long time and Anne knew that. It didn't make sense.

He was breaking his head over the question of why. He needed to do something and forget about all this, maybe then the headaches would go away. They weren't as strong and exhausting anymore but still there. Since a few days already.

"Eat something you need energy for the day." Harry dropped his head on his hands and eyed the egg and bacon in front of him. "Why?"

"That's a surprise." Harry wasn't hungry, and to be honest, his eating habit got pretty bad through the last few days. His hipbones started showing that way again they did when he was starving himself. It was hideous to look at. And he knew that Louis wouldn't let him leave the room without eating so he did as told. "I don't like surprises."

That was a lie but his mood was pretty down since the police office, how could Anne do that to him? No, don't think about it. Harry reminded himself as his head started pounding harder. "Oh, I know you do," Louis mumbled chewing on a piece of bacon while Harry tried to get rid of the headache by rubbing his temples. "Fine." But he definitely needed some painkillers before they leave.

-

"You're kidding me right?" Louis looked seriously shocked. One hand at the starring wheel the other holding a spoon.

"No, seriously, I have never eaten one of those."

"Ever?!"

"Ever."

"But they taste really good," Harry admitted. It was an... Mc Furry, he believed its name was, anyways Louis insisted on buying ice cream so they made a quick stop at Mc Donalds. The windows down and music blasting through the boxes. It was the perfect road trip feeling. "We're almost there." It didn't look like it, the street they were following was surrounded by fields, nothing else.

They had been driving for about two hours now and Harry had absolutely no clue where they were. "In the middle of nowhere? Are you some sort of a serial killer?" Harry asked sarcastically while trying to get another chocolate lens out of the cup. Louis giggled at Harry, he was so concentrated he put his tongue out a little.

"What?"

"Nothing, it's just, you look cute when you stick your tongue out like that." Harry felt his cheeks burn a little, ugh he was always blushing so easily. "I can't believe it." Harry looked up in confusion a little smile on his face as their eyes met. "Is that a smile?!" Louis carried on. Louis' horrible acting made Harry smile even wider until they both break into a laugh.

"So there we are." Louis stopped the car in a parking lot between a lot of other cars. Children were running and chasing each other all around. The place turned out to be a huge Aquarium. "Wow," It looked amazing all those fishes swimming on both sides next to them and even above. Harry felt like a child that was seeing all this for the first time in his life.

It was overwhelming. Behind the huge wall made of glass in front of him was swimming a whale it made Harry feel so small like he was just a little rice grain next to it. "Right?" Louis whispered, his hand holding Harry's. The whole tour through the building took about two hours and Harry didn't spend a single second of it thinking about life outside.

It was good to get on other thoughts for once and just do something. Something not related to the police to Charly or his mom, just with Louis. After the tour was over they bought some food and ate it on the rooftop. Sitting on the edge, watching the sunset until the stars were glowing down on them. And of course, Louis had put on some music. Like always.

The chilly night wind flowing under Harry's loose hanging shirt felt fresh against his skin. It was the perfect cool down after this hot day. "God how I love this."

"I know no one loves eating more than you."

"Except for Niall." They laughed. It was true Niall was eating without a break. Harry was wondering how he could possibly stay in shape. Like seriously, he was eating more than the rest of them together. "No, I mean doing stuff like this-" His phone started ringing

"Speak of the devil, what's up Nialler?"

"Alright, okay calm down." Louis look got confused and he pt the boy on speaker.

"Can you hear me too Harry?"

"Loud and clear."

"The police just called" Niall started

"Sabrina didn't know I was listening but she was talking about the case,"

"Wait, how do you know about the case?" Louis asked staring at the phone in his hand.

"I'm not stupid. anyways this is important. I heard her trying to tell them it was all just a misunderstanding and shit like that."

"What?!" The words burst out of Harry's mouth pretty loud. It made perfect sense that the Police hadn't called them so far when she really managed to make them believe what she told them.

"Yes, and she talked weirdly familiar to them. Something is definitely off bout all this."

Fuck.

Sabrina had always been good at manipulating people. She did it to Harry as well, when Charly started mocking him she used to say it was just fun and he seriously believed her. Or when it went further, Charly got drunk and started hurting him physically, she made him keep it secret from his mom and anyone else. He just did that because he was drunk, she said. It wouldn't happen again.

It did. Multiple times. And now she was trying it again. And if the whole thing wasn't enough Harry saw a familiar car driving up the driveway. Louis gave him a worried look after he had spotted the car as well.

No.
