Chapter 26: Crystal Slime

Minutes pass and the four successfully finished battling the twenty slimes with six of them being Level 3 Creatures

The four were currently kneeling in the ground with most of their energies spent. However, despite the tiredness they are experiencing, smiles can still be seen on their faces

This was the first time that they really went all out. The previous times they killed slimes, they are cooperating with each other. But this time, they battled the slimes in whatever way they want to

Despite the pain from their injuries, the four were still feeling happy. Who knows that fighting on such a freeway would be this thrilling?

Keon stared at the destruction brought by the earlier fight. Just like the other times, the ground was littered with holes, fire, and water. However, the degree of damage this time was on another level

Thinking back at the fifteen years of life that Keon led while being powerless made him a bit emotional. Although the damage in the surrounding was not entirely done because of Keon, he was still a part of it

Keon might not be the strongest being out there but now, he has a bit of the ability to protect himself

"I am only a Level 2 Mystic for now but I already like the feeling of power. I wonder, what do the mystics at the top of the pyramid feel with their own power?" Keon thought inwardly before shaking his head. Now is not the time to be too emotional, there is still a more important thing at hand

"Fill the energy cores, we must leave as soon as possible" Keon forced these words out his throat. It was already a miracle that no slimes were attracted by the earlier fight although it lasted longer than their other fights. They can't continue staying here when they are this exhausted

Fortunately, Keon's teammates are also sensible. In just a few moments, they are already ready to drag their tired body away from the 'crime scene'

"The risk this time is high but it was worth it. We managed to fill three Level 3 Cores. Too bad, if the fight lasted for a bit longer, I might have broken through the next level"

Keon felt that it was really a pity but there is no point thinking too much about it. He survives and he still has the chance to ascend in rank

After the four rested, they immediately embark on another exploration to kill more slimes. Their lives literally became redundant. The only thing they did was to find slimes, kill slimes, fill the energy cores, find a place to rest, and repeat from the top

However, it looks like their boring days will change ...

From the distance, they can see shining lights from the top of a small hill. They can't exactly see what those lights are but their interest was piqued

In a realm, aside from the monsters, there are naturally other important resources too. Too bad that this realm is abundant with slimes but treasures from natures were almost non-existent. Aside from patches of grass and a few trees, they cannot see anything special at all

Now that they are seeing something different from the things they normally saw, all four of them want to investigate it

The four look at each other with a tacit agreement, they changed their walking direction and they head towards the top of that hill

After minutes of walking, they finally reach the top of the small hill to see tens of glowing blobs. These creatures all look like slimes with some differences. Scratch that, these shining blobs are slimes but not the normal ones

In every race, there are naturally some sub-species that are special. These slimes are such an example of the 'special slimes' that Keon had read before. He was really surprised to see these slimes and his eyes glowed as he can see himself earning a lot of money

These slimes look like other slimes but their bodies are not as malleable because their bodies are completely made from crystals. Thus, they were given the name of crystal slime

These slimes can be hunted and sold for a high price but they are even weaker than normal slimes!

Crystal slimes have a different core than other slimes. Their cores contained a dense amount of mystic energy that can be used to make tons of special items

However, because of the huge amount of energy they have, their low intelligence made it impossible for them to control their power easily

It was like other slimes have a cup of water as their mystic energies. It was little but this amount was easier to control. As for the crystal slimes, they have a whole pond. They have more mystic energies but they don't have the ability to use them

As a result, most crystal slimes are weak. Those who can control their huge amount of energy are very little in number

Still, Keon has his team approach the crystal slimes warily. The chances are low but it is still better to be cautious

"You're in luck today, I can feel a slime particularly stronger than the other slimes. Have a great day" Kreon's infuriating words rang in Keon's mind and his face darkened

What bad luck! If there were no crystal slime present that has the ability to control the abundant amount of energy they have, defeating these slimes would be a piece of cake

"Be careful, there is a crystal slime capable of using its innate gift" Keon warned as they slowly approach the slimes to see if they can sneak attacks them

However, the slimes were more alert than they had thought and since there is really no place to hide, the slimes immediately noticed them. Well, that might be the work of the special slime

The glowing chunks of crystal at the top of the hill divided and there are actually around fifty of them. That wasn't a problem though as normal crystal slimes are really too weak, most of the time they are unable to shoot attacks towards their enemy

The only slime they need to be wary of was the biggest slime. It has the size of a small boulder and inside it was a core that is radiating that intense light that made its body glow

These particular slimes are a bit yellowish in color and the area around them was a bit hotter than normal. Keon judged that these crystal slimes got their energies from the sun. Hence, the reason why they are staying at the top of a hill

The crystal slimes have solid bodies and they can't change shape, unlike other slimes. However, the special slime doesn't need to change shape. What it does was making sharp-bladed legs made from its energy along with a tail in its back

It created such a strange sight and the slime showed its skillful control over its energy

Seeing that, Keon frowned. Special crystal slimes are already powerful but this particular one looks as if it was stronger than normal even though this is Keon's first time meeting this kind of slime

"This slime looks too dangerous, should we fight it or not?" Keon asked unsurely. He thought that it would be Nath that will answer immediately but it was actually Gabe

"Fight it" Gabe simply said and Keon narrowed his eyes. Why does he felt like Gabe wants them to encounter danger higher than the group of twenty slimes they fought before?

It gave Keon a feeling that Gabe wants to see him in a desperate situation though he also felt like the man doesn't want him to die. It's like Gabe just wants Keon to push himself farther in a more desperate situation

"Fight! Fight! Let's fight this boss slime!" Nath chimed enthusiastically completely ignoring the level of danger. As for Mady, she just silently nodded her head in agreement

Since the three already agreed, Keon doesn't want to look like a scaredy-cat and despite the growing suspicion in his heart, he still accepted the choice of fighting the slime

"Nath, this might be pushing you too much but do you think you can engage the slime in close combat? Aside from you, most of us are really more suited to range attacks"

Mady can control her fire from the distance and Gabe was the same with just a different element. Needless to say, Keon's cards is also fired from the distance

It was really only Nath that is the most skillful at close combat. However, he is only a Level 2 Mystic, ordering him to fight the slime like that is too dangerous

Despite that, Nath being Nath, he still nodded his head easily in agreement

"Mady, restrain its legs to support Nath while I will boost Gabe's water ability"

The slime was using power from the sun and the temperature of its energy is quite high. It would be best if it was Mady that will restrain it instead of Gabe. Who knows if the slime's energy actually has the ability to evaporate Gabe's water

Keon wasn't able to say anything again as the special slime already charged at them

Nath immediately engaged it in a fight and attracted its aggro while using his sword to fight
