Book: The Era of Change and Chaos.
There have been a few eras within human memory, the Era of the Orvitian Empire and the Era after its collapse.
Most of the men and women in between have lived their lives as peasants, dying in disease and starvation. Only now, in this age of stability, did we have such an abundance of resources and wealth.
So how did we go from a bunch of dying, starving peasants? To be men of learning and progress.
That answer to that would be The Era of Change and Chaos
The Era of Change has, as the name implies, changed everything. The political, societal, economic structure was bent, broken, and rearranged during this era. As men of power pushed forth reforms and burned old institutions.
Along with this, the way we waged war evolved and created the Chaos. The invention of gunpowder and other weapons resulted in world wars and deaths of unimaginable magnitude.
To understand how this era started, we should understand the men and women that stood in front, leaders of humanity changing tides of war and politics—the Children of Miracles.
The year 185 - 190 A.E., the year most of them were born—a decade with great change unknown to those present.
Though, we shall talk concentrate on the western sphere of countries—the backdrop on the countries resulting in their old rivalries and friendship.
Europa was once dominated by a single empire, the Carlingian Empire \. The Carlingian born from the destruction of the Orvitian Empire.
Was formed by the nobles and administrators of the dying Orvitian Empire. They were united under the Carlingian Dynasty by its founder, Joseph Carlingian.
Though despite its stable foundation, the unclear succession resulted in the formation of two nations. Germania and Francia.
With both claiming to be the inheritor of the other, Carlze and Carlois have been in a ten-year war, filled with ceasefire and battles.
Then came the two heirs, Germanian Princess and heir to the throne. Adelaide Carlze, mostly known for her moniker as Germania's Light.
She possesses healing, often found in her peers. The moniker was earned during the last stages of the war.
The casualties and wounded was said to have been reduced by 2,000. With her hand, those of which were on the brink of death were healed enough to survive surgery and medications.
This continued till the end, where her people declared her their beacon of hope.
Though, through all of this was the Prince of Francia, the King in all but name. The young boy had his father die on the battlefield.
Everyone expected the Prince to grieve and mourn. After all, all he has shown was his intense attention to the scientific crafts.
Despite his significant contribution to the creation of the industrial machine. He wasn't known for any political skill and management. The nobility scrambled. The opportunity to wield the power of Francia muddled the mind of the greediest nobles.
That is until the deaths started happening. It was unknown when it started, but almost everyone was sure that anyone who opposed Louis Carlois died the next day.
As a show of force, the peace was signed under his supervision and insistence, and he cowed the regency to submission under pain of death.
All assassinations are presumably done by "The Man with a Hundred Faces." It was unknown to who he really was as his assassination remained legendary.
Especially during the "Week of Red." The deaths done from that week built the foundation of power where Louis sat.
The same week, the regency council emptied, and Prince Louis sat unimpeded in national affairs. So most would agree that he was instrumental in his ascension.
But it would be remiss to undervalue Louis's capability in diplomacy. Despite his less than stellar reputation from his ruthlessness.
Anyone who wasn't under his direct supervision loved his rule and all of its benefits. Most nobility saw him as charismatic and charming. All the while wiping off the suspicion in his involvement from each death.
"The men admired, and the women swooned, as the dagger of the night struck those unprepared." The most famous quote describing the rule of King Louis Carlois.
Next should be the Tzech Union, the major nation within its continent north Soveric. The economy affected by the recent wars of expansionism, stagnated, resulting in major unrest within its populace.
War has weighed heavily on its citizens, resulting in the election of President Fernando Trinidad.
He proclaimed peace and prosperity, winning by a marginal majority. He was sworn in along with his staunch opponent, Vice President Miguel Olivar.
Despite Fernando's great stride in improving his country, his work paled in comparison to Saintess Juliana's impact within the nation.
The healing of veterans she has done gave great joy to the masses. The various generals and officers in great pain healed at her hand garnered the armies' support.
The various churches and hospitals created from her generosity. Inspired a generation dedicated to the medicinal arts.
The schools she supported created artisans, craftsmen, and scholars. That would boost the nation's economy and be the backbone at the start of the Industrial Revolution.
Her first step in politics was widely anticipated, as the poor and disheartened rallied to her support, the same way she supported them.
This increasing influence and support would come to a head as the beginning of the attempted assassinations, intent on ending her life before she ever became a powerful opponent.
This is where the "One man Army." steps in, and the moniker is something most would scoff at. Only If they have never seen Carlos fight.
Despite his size, he was already the head guard of the Trinidad family. He was an orphan found in the street, taken in by Juliana as a friend. He instead chose to be her bodyguard, an offer he made to stay by her side.
During his work, it was said that the men he's killed were in the thousands. A legendary feat that remains unbroken in bodyguarding.
Some say they've seen him catch an arrow mid-flight. At the same time, others say to never blink in his presence because you won't know what he's done while you do.
Despite this, a few could compare with the strength of Ekon Bak. The young man capable of destroying mountains.
The boy of such power that a few could compare to his strength. Capable of changing weather with a punch at the tender age of ten.
With strength like this, it was inevitable that he would be the Sulean symbol of Freedom as he and his band freed slaves and wreaked havoc across the region.
As you can see, the Children of Miracles are numerous, the amount of change and chaos, from having these men and women fight for supremacy in a world of ever-evolving standards.
Unfortunately, we haven't even talked about the other nations such as both the Western and Eastern Ifritian Empire, the Inzilian Empire, and its vassal states, Ifritian Confederation, the Orbritush Kingdom. and lastly
the Revolutionaries.
