Chapter 44. Assignment

Charles' Pov

I groan as once again, I have finished my new prototype. I wear my goggles, which I ordered yesterday due to Trial 54 getting too close to the face.

I look in anticipation as I once more wear the necklace, one which has a formula of magic designed into it.

I gulp in anticipation as I wear the magicbag and the flyboot, I feel the connection flow through me until I feel the wind pick up and air flowing through my boots pushing me upwards.

I feel a smile escaping my lips until I feel laughter flow through me "HAHAHAHA." I hold my face as tears drip of my eyes.

"I FUCKING DID IT." I raise both my arms in excitement, I did a little lap around the room floating,

Once I cut the power and with my feet firmly on land, I started jumping in happiness and the intense feeling of success. reducing me to tears. The amount of effort paid off.

I laugh a few more times until I hear clapping, "Congratulations," The voice of Viktor speaking behind me makes me turn to him.

He claps slowly as he walks, eliciting a glare filled with anger from me. Remembering the vivid nightmare he put me through.

He chuckles as he walked, dismissively waving at my glare, He spoke "Now, now. no need to get that angry,"

He started circling me, watching the equipment I currently wore. "It seems you've completed your little experiment."

He claps in excitement as he gave me a wide smile, "Though your programmed magic seems to be a little weak." He looks at my boots.

I sigh at his antics and return back the equipment to the table, perhaps adding offensive magic is the right call. A flying magic isn't exactly the most terrifying something like this can create.

I continued to work and spoke to him, "I am aware of its lack in offensive capabilities," I weld another piece, "But since I have already learned the way to do it, programming offensive magic will be easy."

Viktor nods in excitement watching each of my movements. I glare at him in annoyance "Do you mind?" he smiles at me, looking amused "No? I don't think I do."

Before I could retort in irritation a knock echoed from the door. The voice, probably Faye spoke. "Lord Charles, His Majesty requires you to his office."

I jolt in shock, as I immediately went for the door, looking back to see Viktor gone. I open it to see Faye holding onto a lamp. I smile at her and spoke, "Lead the way then."

Faye smiles back and ruffles my hair, she looks around the room. "You seem to have been busy," she chuckles at me as she presents me with her hand.

I take it as we leave the room and walk up the stairs. As we walk through the hallway, I regaled her of my recent exploits.

Faye nodded while she listened to me. I spoke, "I was even able to float without thinking about it." She proudly smiles at me and I smile back in satisfaction.

She ruffles my hair and replied in a sad expression. "Lady Annabel would be excited to see you achieve this much."

I softly smile, dejected from the reminder of my mother's condition. I shake my head and smile to Faye, "It's fine, she'll see it once she wakes up."

Faye smiles back at me, looking apologetic from her reminder. We stop in front of the door, Faye knocks upon it and opened it after a reply.

I enter as Faye bows and leaves, I look to the occupants. Their eyes baring down onto me. I swallow dryly, a bit afraid of the unknown occupants.

The sudden voice loudly speaking captures my attention, "HAHA, the little kid certainly looks like little Ann."

I look at Father's awry smile as he spoke to me, "Are you aware of the reason you were called?" Huh, I haven't really heard much of the outside world since my birthday.

I shake my head and he nods. "Very well then, you were called here to make the decision for the assignment of Caedebrad lands," I freeze, as a hundred thoughts flashed through my head.

I spoke in trepidation and anxiously spoke to him. "But, I don't know where to start." Where the hell do I even begin?

He flashes me a smile and spoke with a proud expression, "Don't worry, you'll be having advisors in your management of these lands."

A question came in thought, "Do i have to leave Siegcas?" Fathers downcast face as he answers, elicits a disappointed sigh from me, "Unfortunately, we would need you stationed in Caehal."

He intertwines his fingers, "The recent agreement with Germania would require someone of significant rank to manage." I nod in disappointment, knowing that my days here are numbered.

A laugh interrupts me before I could reply as another voice spoke, the voice filled with cheer. "Haha boy, cmon don't look this sad, you're making this old man dejected."

I look to the voice to see a redhead with greying hair. He holds onto a small cane as he smiles at me. "Cmon im sure youll be enjoying your time there, with that cute princess."

He winks at me as he spoke, making me redden. The three men with me looking with varying reaction. Lord John breathing through his nose, to what I could assume be a laugh.

Father though shakes his head, "Lord Alex, please don't tease the boy," He looks at me in the eye and continued, "But yes, Princess Adelaide will go with you as a Germanian envoy, to ensure the trade and transition will go smoothly."

I nod in affirmation as I ask another question, "When am I supposed to leave." Father's sour expression is all the answer I need. "Tomorrow" He replies as he looked down.

I nod as I try to leave, Father looks at me as I turned my back, "You can decline if you wish," He spoke in a hurry.

"May I leave to prepare for tomorrows trip?" He looks at me and carefully nods, "You may." I bow as I open the door and leave. I walk down the hallway, as the thought consumes me.

At least I'll be having someone with me there, I can't really leave mother alone. I'm sure she'll be happy to have Faye with her when she wakes up.

I sigh to myself, I'm just glad magic could help in sustaining her life. I continue to walk taking in the view of Siegcas, knowing tomorrow ill be returning to Caehal.

The coming worries, frightening as I shake "I'm just gonna have to make sure I'm powerful enough for anything that might happen." I clench my fist and breath deeply.

"After all, power is everything."
