It was past midnight when Celine woke up with a small noise, opening her eyes slowly, her vision falls directly on the window, which revealed only a few blurred shadows due to the thin interior curtain that was closed.
Celine was about to close her eyes again when one of the shadows suddenly moved in the window, but instead of passing her, the figure simply stopped right there, it was an oddly shaped shadow.
Celine completely lost sleep as she stared out the window, feeling the figure staring at her too.
Her heart was beating faster and faster, she was nervous, and what aggravated this feeling, even more, was again a movement from the shadow.
One hand, moving slowly across the glass as if trying to feel what was through it.
Celine unconsciously held her breath, trying to somehow hide her presence from this thing in her window, and in the midst of this suspense, a small noise was heard coming from the next room, it felt like a small stone had fallen, the walls were so thin like this?
That noise was enough to startle the creature, which quickly disappeared, leaving only the blurry emptiness of the window.
Celine found that she had been holding her breath for a long time and soon released the air that was trapped, breathing heavily, and not having time to think about anything, she heard another noise, which was still coming from the room next door.
Facing the wall where the sound was coming from, Celine rose and slowly walked over to it. Pressing her ear, she concentrated on what she was hearing.
There were low noises, it seemed as if the person inside was going through clothes... there was no hurry, maybe someone unpacking. Celine pushed away from the wall and looked again at the window, staring at it for a while.
Celine was afraid that if she got close, the creature would come back and come to her.
Her heart almost falters again when a small, very light knock came from the door, turning nervously towards the door she froze, her mind travels through the darkest corners of her thoughts, imagining all sorts of situations or possible escape options, and she only calms down when she hears a calm voice coming from the other side of the door.
– Miss? I had a weird feeling just now, so I came to check it out and see if you were okay? – Celine soon realized whose voice it was and relaxed a little, not hearing any answer coming from inside, Suna asks – Celine?
She wondered if maybe she had thought too much and probably the lady inside the room was already asleep, she tried to calm down a bit and turned to go back to her own room, but before she could, the door in front of her was quickly opened. Two pairs of eyes stared at each other for a while before Suna finally said something.
– Miss, your face looks pale, is everything alright? – She asks in a worried tone as she touches Celine's forehead to check her temperature.
– I just had a nightmare – Maybe it was just her imagination, but she felt a sense of familiarity with that shadow.
– A nightmare? – Suna asks, and seeing that Celine was just staring at her in silence she didn't ask anymore – Do you need me to stay here until you fall asleep?
– I think... I want to talk a little – Celine was still a little stunned by what happened, maybe a conversation would distract her from what happened.
They were all this time in the hallway, and Suna, worried that someone was going to complain, quickly pushed Celine inside and closed the door, she guided Celine to one of the seats and accompanied her into a conversation.
– My lady, actually, while organizing things out there, I ended up discovering the name of that young master – Suna said, and sure enough to get the attention of the little lady beside her she smiled – His name is Nevra.
Celine stared at Suna for a while, Nevra? Where had she ever heard that name? The Kingdom of Kelet? Thegia? Almalorantia...
– The only son of the Sect Master of the water mages of Almalorantia?
Suna nodded – Exactly, Master Noah's son, Nevra is a pure water mage, I think you've heard of him right?
– Yes... – Celine nodded – Will he also study at Kesla?
– He's already studying there, he's a year ahead of you considering you're going to skip a year, he's a third-period veteran.
Celine nodded again as she thought: There are a lot of important people studying there, so probably Kesla is one of the safest places in the nine realms...I heard that even one of the only night mages out there studies there.
As she thought, Celine once again stared at the window, Suna noticed and walked over to it, looking out before closing the outer curtain, completely obscuring the view.
Turning her gaze back to Celine she said – Okay, are you sleepy already or do you still want to talk a little more?
Celine got up and went to the bed, even though she lay down she was still looking out the window, still a little afraid.
Suna understood that something had happened, but since Celine didn't want to talk she wouldn't make her, she went to a seat by the bed and sat down, taking a book from who knows where, she started reading, Celine, seeing what she was doing, smiled and closed her eyes, falling asleep easily.
The room was silent, both of them, having no idea that the guest in the next room had already opened his window and jumped out, with a simple bag on his back. Looking from side to side, and seeing that no one had to notice his "escape", he disappeared through the streets, moving away into the darkness.
