Chapter 26: My Past

I watch as Bea dodges blasts and circles around the bread counter in the back of the market, just missing a blast.

"Come on Bea hold on." I mutter under my breath. I can tell she is getting tired from holding her morphed form. Sliding across a large broken vase, reach her.

Just as I reach her she takes a blow to her right wing, and tumbles back, out of sight.

"Conn and Honey get the back door! Nicholas get the box! Bea's down!"

"Roger!" they adknowledge.

I fly over to where I saw her fall. She is a few feet away in a torn canopy, unmoving. I rush over to her limp body.

"Bea! Bea? Come on, this is no time for games. We need you." I prop her head on my knee and look over to the battle, only half a soccer field away.

She mumbles something and turns her head. Her eyes are closed and her face looks pale. Her right shoulder has a bullet wound but I can't tell if it penetrated or just grazed. Either way she is bleeding pretty bad.

I was astounded these bullets were stronger than the suits! How was this possible? They are Vibranium!

I deactivate my suit and take my shirt underneath off and tear it into strips, then use it to compress the wound.

"Эй, ты! Там!"

A tall, important looking guy comes around the corner and yells for them to come over to us.

He talks on his radio "We have two of them here on the south end, one is severely wounded. What do you want done with them?"

"Take them to the oven." Is the response. I raise my arm to fire my blaster but suddenly bound and gagged from behind. Bea is done the same way despite her injuries. We are taken to another part of the warehouse and thrown into the oven. I hear a lock click.

Fortunately they didn't think my gloves or boots were worth taking. So, using them I cut the bonds and release both Bea and me. I use what power is left in my gloves to illuminate the big, dark oven. Bea begins to regain consciousness. I try the comms.

"Conn were trapped in an oven on the west side of the warehouse and need assistance."

I wait for a few seconds.

"Conn we need assistance!"

I wait.

"Conn?"

Nothing.

"Conn come in!"

Drat! The walls are keeping the radio waves from reaching the others. As I keep trying Bea regains full consciousness.

"It hurts!"

"I know it does. We're gonna get out in just a minute. Just give me a minute!" I try the oven door but the latch was locked.

"Tony, I have to tell you something." Bea grunts through the pain.

"Please tell me it is you have a mini transistor radio."

My fingers begin searching the walls for an opening while trying to keep Bea calm. I don't want her to go into shock from losing so much blood so I keep talking to her.

"What is it you want to tell me?"

I find a crack in the oven with my fingers. The only question is, what is this oven made out of and can I break it?

"I read your file."

I stop and spin around to face her.

"W-what? How?" I feel my face turn pale.

""L-last night before the mission, I h-hacked S.P.E.A.R.'s s-server."

"Your losing too much blood Bea, hold on!" I rip off another piece of shirt and bandage her more tightly, this time applying a tourniquet above the wound to help stop the bleeding until we can get out of here and get some help.

"Y-you are adopted."

I drop the the tourniquet halfway through tying it. She smiles and continues

"Your the s-son of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. And m-my twin brother."

I am speechless. Me? The son of a superhero? An adopted child? My mind is whirring as fast as a computer, my previous, adopted life flashes before my eyes. How did I get here?
