Chapter 10: Need Some Brain Damage?

They visited every hour on the hour. All 3 of them, Alpha Q, Rogue F, and Ultimate Z. Sometimes Ultimate A would come with them too.

Before they entered, my body would jolt with electricity running all over it. I am now sure that they have inserted a taser chip somewhere in my body, probably the stomach since it always hurts first and most. I assume it was so that I was weak enough to be taken down if I was given a chance to escape.

Weaklings. They don't think that they can take me if I was at my usual strength.

I think that shows a lot about who they are as people, as an organization.

The second time they visited, Ultimate Z brought in a syringe, containing blue liquid inside. I assumed that it was what normal people would call 'truth serum', as it did make me want to speak the truth a lot more.

Still, I held it in and refused to say a word, knowing that once I did, they would be able to see everything I knew. And some of that information was too important to let them know about.

They won't kill me, that I am sure of. They want to know what I know, and they want me on their side.

It wasn't hard to tell that they all cared. Still, it seemed as if all of those feelings were repressed.

So much for 'as I always were and always will be'.

Someone opened the door.

Why didn't they weaken me like usual?

"Phoenix X, we have to go, now," I looked up to see Alpha Q, walking in and helping me up.

"No," I whispered, unable to talk any louder.

"We have to go, alright? Come on, we only have a few minutes to get out of the HQ," he started dragging me out, knowing that I am unable to walk on my own.

"No!" I said, pushing him away with all my power, and yet, it could only do so much.

"Please," He whispered, "If Ultimate Z finds me here, I wouldn't be able to help you anymore."

"Go away," I said raspily. My voice came out barely above a whisper.

I dropped to the floor, feeling the pain shoot up my leg. I think I may have sprained my right ankle.

Alpha Q scooped me up and carried me all the way across the empty corridor. I didn't have the power to fight back.

Why is the corridor empty? They never leave it empty.

"We're on lockdown," he said as if reading my thoughts. I was too weak to respond.

Why am I so weak?

"Hey, it's okay. We're getting you out of here, alright? I'm sorry. I'm so fucking sorry," he said, gently setting me on the passenger seat of his car.

It took about 20 seconds for him to close my door, get to his, and start the car. After that, we were off to god knows where.

But I was so tired. And I can trust him.

Can't I?

➰➰➰

The universe has its wonders, and wonders never cease.

Do you know what else makes me wonder?

How I came to wake up in the passenger seat of a luxurious car in the middle of nowhere, wearing nothing but a t-shirt and boxer shorts. I left in a patient gown.

"Ah!" Alpha Q exclaimed, entering the car, "You're awake," he grinned.

I nodded, looking around the unfamiliar surrounding, "Where are we?"

"Uh, just a few hundred miles away from the main HQ," Alpha Q answered.

"Okay," I said, "Explain."

Alpha Q struggled to get in the car, almost dropping everything in his arms. When he finally got in and settled, he pulled the car out of the parking area and began driving.

"Seatbelt, please," Alpha Q said.

I ignored what he said. He's not looking at me.

Why isn't he looking at me?

"Why was the headquarters on lockdown?" I asked again, a different question this time, hoping to build up my answers.

"Intruders," he said vaguely.

"Why were you allowed out?"

Alpha Q sighed, "Are we really going to play twenty-one questions right now, Phoenix X? I just got you out of mental torture. For all I know, you should be thanking me."

"Thanking you?" I scoffed. "You were the one who put me in there in the first place."

"I'm aware of that. But I got you out, didn't I?"

"You were the one who put me in there anyway," I argued. "And besides, I can handle a bit of brain damage, might even think I need some."

I watched his eyes harden as he pulled us over and stopped the car. Only to turn right back to me and point fingers.

"If you aren't going to be the least bit grateful, I can turn this car around whenever I want to," Alpha Q threatened.

"Go ahead, see if I care," I leaned back into my seat, crossing my arms.

Some people just don't understand gratitude. Why the hell would I be grateful to someone who shot me in the stomach, put a taser chip inside me, and I presume a tracking chip too, basically kidnapped me and is threatening to put me back?

Alpha Q scoffed, "Fine."

And now we're going back to RAYA HQ. Intruders, hm?

The last time we were on lockdown was the day that 4 factors of the apocalypse. What if the lockdown was a diversion like last time?

I can feel him constantly glancing at me. It was as if he's watching me, keeping me from doing something that he doesn't think I'm supposed to.

Well, guess what, Alpha Q? I'm Phoenix X and I will always do what I'm not supposed to.

It was as if adrenaline had rushed back into me, making me energized all over again. Or at least enough to grab the wheel and make us crash.

The airbag in front of me inflated and I got out as fast as I can.

But as soon as I stood up, wincing at my ankle, Alpha Q was already pointing a gun at me.

"I didn't want to do this, Phoenix X. We could've gotten back unharmed," he said, loading the gun and placing his finger on the trigger.

I put my hands up, eyeing a sharp glass shard from one of the broken windows.

Alpha Q laughed as if mocking me, "Oh? Now you don't want to die? What was it back there, huh? Need some brain damage? Well, it's your lucky day then, sweetheart. Because this bullet is going straight into that pretty little brain of yours."

I stayed quiet, calculating my moves while he went on and on, teasing me like he was already winning.

What a fool.

"Oh, come on, come closer and I'll show you how much brain damage you can take," he smirked.

I couldn't hold my smile in as I walked closer to him, leaning my forehead onto the barrel of the gun.

"Go on, shoot me," I taunted.

Fun.

I could see him hesitate.

I instantly grabbed the shard of glass and stabbed him on the side of his neck with it, making him lose his grip on the gun, and letting me have it in my hands.

And, unlike him, I didn't hesitate.

I didn't even need to catch a breath before shooting that bullet between his eyes.

And he stared at me, watching me unconsciously smile in accomplishment.

"What? Need some brain damage?" I smirked, putting the gun in the waistband of my shorts and taking his boots.

What? They're cute. And Alpha Q has relatively small feet.

I found a lighter inside the dashboard cabinet and opened the gas tank, making petrol spill out.

"I knew I couldn't trust you," I said, before throwing the lighter inside the car.

In a few seconds, the car exploded while I walked away, covered in ash and blood, wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and combat boots.
