Chapter 29: Sword Flash

Sword Flash wasn't the biggest city in Geyron, but it was certainly the wealthiest. You could see it in the gold-tinted houses glittering in the morning son. You could see it in the cobblestone streets, smooth as the day they were built. And you could see it in the people; a languid population, never hurrying anywhere, taking time to enjoy the splendor around them. It was a passive, peaceful place- which would make it a prime target for an attack by the Urts.

Since the threat of the Urts became clear to Geyron, Sword Flash's usually calm atmosphere grew tense. Watches were set on the walls, scouts were sent out, and escape routes were planned in preparation for the worst. A civilian militia was set up, with every able-bodied adult required to enlist. There was talk of rationing food supplies in case they fell under siege. Tension was palpable in the air.
