Terror was clawing from behind her eyes. A nightmare? The pain came dull, constant, and inescapable. She had been lain down on this hard flat surface – whatever it was. There was no recollection of her having done it. The blackness of unconsciousness turned to the red of light through her eyelids. The girl opened her eyes. But, as they took in the world around her, the floor fell away and the terror was replaced with something akin to madness. Her eyes took in information, people around her, dim light, and a noise. None of it made any sense. What was happening? Was the noise coming from the people? Who were they? Why was she there?
