Frank screamed. It was deafening. It was so human that it was almost inhuman. Lukas, even though he looked to be near death, kept grinning.
“I thought you said he wasn’t alive,” said Eliza.
“The protocol I started was to load a brainscan into him, you know, in case I died or something,” he said. “His physical brain’s based on mine, so it must’ve taken root pretty quickly.”
“Are you going to be okay?”
“Shotguns are no fun, but, yeah, I’ll live,” coughed Lukas. “Right now, I’m more concerned with Frank. I think he got some of the rudiments - an active amygdala and stuff, but I’m pretty sure that he’s never had a thought before in his life. I doubt he can even speak right now.”
Eliza watched as the pale, well-muscled man tried stepping forward farther, looked around in utter and absolute confusion. What must he be thinking?
He screamed again.
“Yup,” said Lukas. “None of my charming personality. He’s alive; he’s human, and that’s about it.”
