Chapter 37: Lurking

After Runi wrapped the left side of my head with bandages, I rushed toward the mansion’s infirmary where Kendra has been tended with a physician.

I peeped through the door’s crack and saw the General sitting on the chair beside her bed. He was looking forlorn while observing how the physician checked Kendra’s vital signs with his stethoscope.

I could also see the Madam sitting on a lounge at a far end of the room together with her maidservant. They were calm while waiting for the physician’s consultation.

When the physician finished, the three of them, the General, Madam Andrea, and her maidservant, gathered around the physician.

They were speaking indistinctly, so I couldn’t figure what they were talking about although the Madam’s face seemed to crumple every now and then. The General doesn’t seem to react with his blank stares and occasional nodding.

Kendra’s condition must be serious, and it was all because of me.
