Chapter 42: Duke of Kent

I didn’t want to flash fake smiles to the people at the luncheon. I evaded everyone including Runi or heaven forbid, Auntie Andrea.

The Phoenix Pavilion is swarming of people who are waiting to be invited to the wedding of the General. They would be the first to gossip about me withdrawing the engagement.

The safest I could go was behind the secluded bushes at the back of the Phoenix Pavilion. I slipped there from the crowd and successfully evaded the General’s men and the inquisitive guests.

I then sprawled all across the ground. I didn’t care if my dress was already contaminated with dust, grime, and rubble.

Kendra was right when she told me that I’ll know how the General feels for me when he’ll learned of my withdrawal.

It was too easy for him to tell me to pack my things and to go home.

I started crying so hard without a sound because I didn’t want to startle any guest who might be walking nearby.
