Chapter 41: The Perfect Dress or the Perfect Date?

“Aren’t you excited for tonight?” Chris was uncharacteristically giggling.

School just ended and everyone started rushing back and forth to open and close their lockers.

Everyone’s hurrying up for tonight. The boys have to pick up their ironed tailored suits from the laundry shops, check their cars, and pick up their corsages.

The girls have to fit their dresses all over again, perm their hair, put on their eye shadows, get their lipstick right, walk on their heels, paint their kneels, and giggle over the phone with their friends about their dates for tonight.

Everyone is going abuzz with their whirlwind conversations of red roses and spring dance kisses, except for me.

Most of the girls have been asked by the guys they wanted. I barely was even asked out by anyone. Probably, I was Terence’s last choice when the other girls he asked ahead of me rejected him.
