Chapter 43: First Kiss
It was almost eleven o’clock, and the party was ending.
I had a memorable night of picture-taking along with Elaine, Christine, and our classmates; dancing along to the guys who never talked to me in classes; and sharing champagne with Terence each time I went back to the table.
Ms. Adele, who always wants to speak with the microphone, reminded everyone again about going home straight and how the school isn’t responsible for lost cellphones. She called for the school leaders. Susan and Dana head to the front right away along with their subordinates.
“Let’s go,” Terence said, holding my hand. I tried looking for Stephen, but I can’t find him. Terence lead me out of the auditorium. Terence and I drove in silence until we’ve arrived at my house. He didn’t ask if I was alright or how many guys I’ve danced with that night.
He didn’t bother to turn on the music either, so it was a long and awkward silent drive of about forty minutes.
