Chapter 37: Return to the island

Neither of them mentioned the early morning incident to David. He'd woken at eight full of energy and plans and was pleased to find them up already.

'Come on, Petros,' he said after breakfast, 'let's get your dad's boat and go off to the island again. Savvas has gone to Athens for a few days, he'll know nothing about it.'

'I'll have to ask Mother for the keys. She'll want to know what we're up to.'

'Well, tell her we want to go sailing the coast or on a trip to Vai or something.'

'You really want to carry on with this mad adventure?' Petros demanded. The meeting with Areti had made him angry. 'You don't think it might be dangerous?'

'How?' said David scornfully. 'What earthly danger can there be? Apart from the tumbledown houses, of course. So yes, we will take care, great care and not break our necks. You're turning chicken, Petros.'
