Chapter 41: Petros follows the boat

Petros awoke with a sense of great urgency and anxiety. He sat up and looked at the clock. It was about eight thirty. He seldom lay in so late and his head ached a little. He could hear his grandmother's piping voice as she chatted to his mother in the kitchen. He lay back again for a moment and wondered why his heart was beating so fast, why he felt so troubled. Recalling the previous day's adventures, the worry over the boat, the terrible experience of stumbling across that ancient dead woman – no wonder he felt disturbed.
