Food For All!

As the sharp teeth were about to pierce through Mi Lai's tender neck, an iron stick flew past with a hissing sound and penetrated the rot-eating rat's skin accurately and forcefully..

With another loud sound, the iron stick went through the rough hide of the rot-eating rat and nailed it on Mountain Trash.

Panting, Lan Jiao staggered and sat down. She had lost almost all of her remaining strength at that moment because she threw the stick with a lot of force.

Luckily, the result turned out to be okay. The throw saved Mi Lai at a crucial moment.

It was good that she had possessed such strength. This was all because the original body used to have a relatively healthy physique.

After all, the original host had been the offspring of the generals of Mech Warband. It wasn't surprising that her body's fundamentals were good.

But she had ruined her innate quality by doing nothing constructive.

Mi Lai, who had just escaped death, was so frightened that his face turned pale. He collapsed on the trash not far from her.

He turned around stiffly and saw the rot-eating rat. Its flesh had been pierced. But it was still bleeding and trying to crawl away into the trash pile.

Mi Lai's feelings towards Lan Jia got increasingly improved. He had lacked nothing since childhood except for friendship.

In the past one month, ever since his arrival on this planet, he had been saved by Lan Jiao twice already.

The first time was when he had almost starved to death, and Lan Jiao offered him a piece of bread after removing its mold.

And this time… she had really given him a new life! He decided to treat Lan Jiao as his best friend henceforth!

Lan Jiao panted and walked towards the rot-eating rat, which seemed to be on its last breath due to haemorrhage.

She gripped the iron stick and picked up the rat with it, keeping her hand away from the rat's teeth.

Then she smashed it against the stone on the ground.

The rat's brain splattered everywhere with a loud sound. The rot-eating rat's head was hanging on the side. It was finally dead.

Mi Lai was shocked by this series of moves done by Lan Jiao.

He had never expected that a weak and fragile girl like Lan Jiao could have done such a forceful thing.

But Lan Jiao seemed to treat it like it was not a big deal.

She did not care whether there was blood and gore around, especially since they were teetering at the edge of death every single moment in this environment.

This dead rat might look disgusting, but Lan Jiao saw the whole thing through, and looked at it as the first real meal she could get on this planet.

Lan Jiao grabbed the iron stick on which the body of the rat was still impaled, and came up to Mi Lai to help him get up.

"Hurry up! The rot-eating rats must have smelled the blood by now. We would not be able to leave if the whole gang arrives here."

Hearing her words, Mi Lai shivered in panic and started running, following Lan Jiao.

The locals and the exiles, who had been busy seeking food on Mountain Trash, also started to move away following the old routine.

Some rot-eating rats had already appeared there, and more would follow, sweeping away all the remaining food on Mountain Trash.

The camp was safer compared to staying on Mountain Trash.

The dangerous beings on Planet Trash wouldn't invade them since the Alliance Warbands that were in charge of Planet Trash were guarding the camp.

Lan Jiao drew a great deal of attention from the patrolling soldiers and locals on the way to camp because she was holding a rot-eating rat's body on the iron stick.

Many people threw a disgusted look, both towards the rat in her hand as well as Lan Jiao, who brought this annoying thing to the camp.

Mi Lai was confused about Lan Jiao's intention. He had asked Lan Jiao about it on the way and her answer creeped him out.

Lan Jiao had answered in a relaxed manner. "It is food!"

He could not wrap his head around the idea of eating the dead rat, even after they reached the houses which had been arranged for the exiles!

Lan Jiao placed the rat's body in front of the door, and brought out some things from her room.

Under the curious gaze of the soldiers and a few locals, she ripped open the rat with the slightly worn-out fruit blade.

She cleaned up the rat's body quickly, making the spectators speak up among themselves. "Oh god, she is not intending to eat this disgusting and filthy thing, is she?"

"It looks like that…"

"I would rather go and pick dirt from Mountain Trash than eat rot-eating rats…"

Hearing the whispers of the bystanders, Lan Jiao showed a flat expression and remained calm.

At this moment, several patrolling soldiers passed by and looked at what Lan Jiao was doing with an interested expression on their faces.

One experienced-looking soldier in his 40s reminded Lan Jiao kindly. "Some people tried that before, but the flesh seems to be too sour and bitter for people to eat it."

Hearing his words, Lan Jiao shook her head and looked up at the soldier.

"I can make it taste less bitter and sour."

Lan Jiao had been the lady of a noble family but she was not like the normal noble girls.

Her parents had always been busy with their work, and barely each other met throughout the year. So, she was almost never under their charge.

She had an elder brother, so she did not need to be concerned about inheriting the business either. As a result, she had grown up as a free, happy girl.

She could paint and knew a lot about music. She was quite talented, generally speaking.

Apart from possessing these skills, her biggest interest was in food.

So, when every other child of a rich family went abroad for studies and attended prestigious universities, she had enrolled into an oriential cooking school, where she studied diligently for three years.

In her opinion, a qualified foodie needed to be able to cook properly so he could satisfy his desire for food under any circumstances.

Her plan had been to live her life pursuing her hobbies. But after she graduated from the cooking institute, she time travelled to this place.

It was not difficult to remove the bitter and sour taste of the rat. As long as she could find the suitable sauces and seasoning spices, she would definitely be able to turn the rat into a delicacy.

However, the resources on Planet Trash were so limited that she barely had any food to eat. How would she be able to get the expensive seasoning sauces that were only used by the noble families?

On the other hand, she had not spent the past month in vain. When everyone else focused upon looking for food, she had put her energy into something else.

For example, she found a fruit blade, some cooking tools, one small portion of salt as well as some chilli plants that grew wildly around Mountain Trash.

She had sundried a large string of palm-size chilli by hanging it on the door of her room.

On this scorching Planet Trash, one day was enough to almost roast the chilli. After that, she had crushed the dried chilli into powder and hid it well.

Now, the powder was going to come in handy!
